How to Paint Cute Colorful Cats for Beginners | Easy Tutorial to Master Loose Watercolor Painting

Today’s project is a two-in-one. We’re going to practice our wet-in-wet technique, and at the same time create a cute greetings card we can use for anyone and for any occasion.
It’s a simple design of three stylised cats, and I’m using the lovely A. Gallo paints to create this, on a piece of Arches 140lb watercolor paper, cold pressed.

Hi Diane! I cannot thank you enough for sharing your gift with the world! I could NEVER imagine me, holding onto a brush and painting ANYTHING other tba my walls or my nails 💅. I've started to learn the art of Lettering. It was while I was looking for a specific video when I "Stumbled" on to your Lil slice of heaven right here in RU-vid! What a gift IS youtube, right? Learning his to paint with a fabulous artist like you and my Lettering coaches, I'm having the best time. Favorite ever!!! They are so cute. My mind is racing with variations. You know you can easily remove that bottom flap with no damage to the palette whatsoever. I use a tiny screwdriver to insert in end of the flap where it joins the palette and push out the small metal rod that holds it. I save mine. Keep thinking I will use them-but haven't so far. Tip courtesy of Miranda Watkins.

Thanks so much for your support Beth! When you see the latest dragonfly video you'll notice that by then I'd figured that out, with the help of my daughter (who's an engineer by trade!) I might put the lids back on at some point so I've slotted the rods back into the hinge edges where they stay without any problem. Thanks for mentioning this though! Happy painting!!

1st time my blobs looked catty, yes!!! sidebar... this (Tues, 7/25/23) morning (8 am, cst) a friend's cat came to visit me...had met him, Milo, only once abt 3 weeks ago....ii knew he needed a vet visit then but had no info since....the only other time this occurred was April, 1981, 4 am, pst, when my family's beloved 14 yr old cat in NYC with the parental units, came to visit me in San Francisco...to say telepathically, 'I love you, and I've got to go.'...ii still tear up ...and this morning ii knew what milo's visit meant....my friend confirmed it an hour later... don't consider this self a cat whisperer, but my heart knows Connection beyond time/space constructs...much like art, music, words that inspire & videos like these that color outside the lines. ty.

I said I was going to make my own this year, I did xmas cards for all of my family using the birds and I was really surprised how much they were enjoyed. Hi Diane, I’m from Rochester New York. There is a cat that is blue, it’s called a blue Russian. It has grey mixed with the blue. In the sun light you can see the blue.

Oh!!! I love your animals!!! First those cute little birds w/ the sassy tails ( it had me thinking- I love birds but photos & drawings show no personality bc they have no ability express emotion on their faces. But your birds tails say it all!🤣 And now these adorable cats!! I have too many but they were all homeless, some just showed up...(dropped off most likely) and I couldn't turn them away. And now I can learn to draw& paint them! Thanks so much for your comment, we have five rescues - one from Spain when we were there on holiday, two who we adopted from our vet when they had been abandoned by the garbage bins, one we found tucked behind the chimney outside the house and another one who just arrived! They do keep us entertained!
