Great tip with the eyes on tracing paper. I just painted 2 of these. They came together so quickly and so much fun. Added a few embellishments with metallic watercolours. Definitely making one into a mother's day card. Loved this tutorial. Thanks so much for sharing Diane.

I just painted these as well. Turned out cute! Good idea on the metallic watercolor accents. I just bought some and haven't used them yet. I will paint these birds again and have fun with metallic accents! :-)

I agree about the tracing paper…great idea. I am not a painter but I make birds from another medium and the eyes are always a problem. I think the paper would work for that too. The whole thing comes alive with the minor details.

this video has made watercolor painting look so easy. I have the 140 lb paper and ordered some tubes of watercolor paint, but I don't know what kind of brushes to get. I am a little intimidated i have to say and don't want to invest a lot until i see that I am going to have fun and enjoy it. but, here goes !!!

Late to this vid…but I love birds…and your little birds are so sweet…I think I must try them. I’m exploring other media now…oils, pastels, etc., etc., but I think watercolor will always be my painting first love. And heaven knows, it’s so much “cleaner” and simpler than other painting media. Need it to be even more transparent or thinner than it already is? Add water. Clean up time? The cheapest and easiest cleanup with soap & water at the sink. And that’s it. And it’s very portable. Couldn’t be simpler. Thanks!

I totally agree. Pastels are messy and dry my skin. Oils are smelly and give me a headache, not to mention the faff of cleanup. Acrylics are hell-bent on destroying every brush you own. I love watercolor!
