Thanks Craig - great demo - answered all my questions on the door frame/door two colours - I notice after cleaning you didn’t sand door - big relief! I have same doors and want to paint with Blackjack hall/stairs and landing. Here goes …
This is the exact thing I have been trying to figure out. We have a feature wall on one side of the room which leads to an office and bathroom within an alcove. I painted all mouldings the same colour as wall just in pearl finish but could not figure out what to do with the doors. Painting them the dark feature wall colour would be gorgeous but that colour is not going to continue into the rooms it connects to. I was thinking of painting it partially - just the trim, but then the doors would stick out oddly. I did not know if this is something people actually do or if that's too odd to paint the door two different colours. Thank you for answering my question!
i have similar door, MDF with grain effect, which means there are fine grooves on the surface and not flat. It would be impratical to sand this surface, but is this why you didn't sand where normally you would?
