Hello War Gamer. I love the work you do and the paint job is amazing. I am going for a winter theme for my Sylvaneth and I was wondering if you could give some suggestions on colors you might use? For example, I am thinking of making the green vines an icy blue, but am unsure of which Citadel paints to use to really achieve it. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for your time!

Sick painting once again! I really love the look of this model. One question, how do you attach the arms and legs to those wine corks?
@PeteTheWargamer
@PeteTheWargamer 8 лет назад
I drilled small holes into the pieces, where the joins would be, and added in a some wire that is roughly the same diameter as my drill bit. I used a small amount of super glue to keep them both in place.

Hope the whole Sylvaneth army will follow. Thank for the tutorial. And special thank for the rhythm of your videos. It's a pleasure to come here and see new videos very often. Just one question. What brushes do you use? They look very sharp
@PeteTheWargamer
@PeteTheWargamer 8 лет назад
I mostly use some Kolinsky Sable brushes in my videos that come from a UK site called Element Games. If you keep them well cleaned and conditioned they last a very long time.
@mikenewberry6377

Great tutorial, thorough and very easy to follow. Just a comment about the camera you are using, I find the paints your using look slightly different in real life. Games Workshop may have changed the paints since the video was published but I don't seem to be getting the same bright green affect as shown in your video. Otherwise its a spot on video and I'll be building my Sylvaneth army using this paint scheme :)

I also use a wet palette (it's changed my life) and was curious as to whether you mix your lahmian medium/paint on it or a dry palette. I typically don't but I'm always up for learning.
@PeteTheWargamer
@PeteTheWargamer 8 лет назад
Yes I do keep it separate from my wet palette as I find it can impact the consistency of the glaze if it mixes with too much water.

Great video! I have a question though, what's the thought behind using Nuln oil to darken the wood, rather than Agrax Earthshade? thanks :)

Agrax Earthshade could also be used however it wasn't quite strong enough to darken the colour down as much as I wanted :)

Maybe any tips or some advice? Absolutely GORGEOUS paint job!
@PeteTheWargamer
@PeteTheWargamer Год назад
You could probably do very well by using a combination of light tan and white paints to tackle the bark and then get some really vibrant pinks from Contrast Paints. Volupus Pink would you look great over a Rakarth Flesh > White Scar basecoat

Does painting the parts separately not making glueing the parts together not work? I was under the impression the glue needed to be plastic to plastic

Hello, is it possible for you to maybe to do a tutorial for a kurnoth hunter in a Weirwood theme? Like in Game of Thrones? I ask because I want to paint a sylvaneth army in that theme, but I'm not sure what sort of color I should paint the soft wood areas and the weapons. Think you might be able to do a video tutorial for it?

Very cool paint job, really like the way this miniature came out. Regarding the sword; if one were using paints other than Citadel, in this case Vallejo, what colors would you recommend as suitable substitutes to get a similar look?
@PeteTheWargamer
@PeteTheWargamer 8 лет назад
It's tricky to get an exact match but you could use a glaze of Ghost Grey mixed with just a small amount of Foul Green and apply that over a White base coat. It might not be the exact same but it would give your a suitably ethereal look.
@TheRunesmythe
@TheRunesmythe 8 лет назад

Amazing tutorial as always, my silver tower set looks stunning because of you. I was wondering, what colors would you use in this color scheme to make the Glowing Bits Blue instead of green (Including the Sword). As well as More Wintry-Evergreen Colors for the vines and leaves? I only ask because of the success I've had with the silver tower minis because of your tutorials, and wanting to replicate that with my army.
@PeteTheWargamer
@PeteTheWargamer 8 лет назад
For glowing blue bits, start with some Caledor Sky, followed by Teclis Blue, before finally using some Baharroth Blue. For an evergreen you will want a darker, less olive, green. So start with Caliban Green, followed by a Warboss Green highlight with a final highlight of the leaf/vine tips of Snarsnik. Hope that helps!
@AnangeredMouse

What would you use for a cherry blossom tree colour scheme
@PeteTheWargamer
@PeteTheWargamer 8 лет назад
Hmmm, I would probably keep the inner wood sections on the arms and legs the same. The bark would start of the same but I would apply some darker highlights instead, such as Skavenblight Dinge and Stormvermin Fur. For the green areas I would start off with a Mephiston Red and build up a glaze of Mephiston Red + Fulgrim Pink on the raised areas before finishing of with Fulgrim Pink highlights on the leaves.
