Hi Cheryl! I have a general question for you. Do you gesso (prime) every canvas? And when you gesso the canvas -what brand and type do you use?

I do NOT, but many artists do!! When I do, I use Liquitex I wanted to mention that I NOW have a subscription on my instagram where I will be drilling into processes deeper. Wonderful painting technique, so much fun! Question: do you gesso the paper first, or how do you deal with the white paper where you don't put paint? Just leave the raw paper? Thanks!

Yes, exactly. I loving leaving white (quiet) space. If I no not gesso, i love the natural look. It might be a personal preference of what you like. I love organic and natural messy things in general!!

Thats really beautiful Cheryl! What i noticed, you know when to stop ! I always seem to overwork my paintings.....adding more and more. I use to do watercolor, and there i knew when to stop. But with acrylics I find it difficult. Did you have the same experience when you started acrylics? Thanks much for sharing!

YES. I used to cover my entire canvas with paint. Having an area where there is white space was difficult until I "got it" and it came easier. One thing I do is walk back and look at the painting from further away and then I see the space and not the paint....... it helps with seeing the darks and lights too.
