@Chris Caliente has this been resolved buddy as this is putting me off getting the packtalk edge. I currently don't have a Bluetooth intercom so do you think the edge is worth the extra money over the bold?
I've been riding with two other buddies. We all had the BOLDs and they were connected. I recently upgraded to the EDGE. After making sure that all units were on the latest firmware, the pairing was easy-peasy through the app. Apparently the reason why you were not able to achieve this could have been because of the older firmware at the time of taping this video. Just thought I'd post in case someone wanted to bring in the BOLDs in his/her EDGE instead of doing it the other way around. Thanks for the video.
Cardo needs to fix this……. $400 and it’s a PITA to join others groups. People don’t have time to sit there all day doing this….. I’m not buying it until they fix it!
To turn on, press and hold the forward media only. You do not need to press two buttons for the start-up. Only for the shutdown. To turn the unit off, press the two buttons simultaneously.
Can you add more Bold Or Edge later in a group which you made earlier? Like you made a group of 3 riders on 1st January, and later you wish to add 3 more riders in the same group on 3rd January?
Unbelievable. Edge can’t join a group. It only can create a group so if you’re trying to join a big group everyone has to join the Edge group which will take half the day.
Yes, it’s supposed to be fixed now, but I just tried pairing an edge into an existing group where my bold is admin & it created a new group with just us two in it & the edge is now admin! I can not make an edge join our existing group! My Bold & the Edge are fully updated
@@dp4racingYup we had that problem. Couldn’t bring an edge in to a bold group just using button press. But edge bold one on one no problem but made a new group. 😢
When you do music share, both of your unit is sharing under DMC? I have both Edge but can not share unless one is in Bluetooth intercom. And I am also having a hard time with that, your video has given me 2-time luck for music share. But I keep on redoing process and my 3rd time, I am not getting lucky.
@@tnt570 Yes and edge will be host and bold will connect to the party. In general if you press intercom button (the one on top) for five seconds it will automatically connect to existing party😁
By group, do you mean the actual group inside the app? Because I’ve been using my slim for two years and I’ve never had the app, but I’ve paired with other slim and other bold. But can’t seem to connect some friends with the new edge.
This is happening to me with two Packtalk BOLD Duo units. Both do not appear in the list. Sometimes it wont find them. When I finally pair them, the second unit takes over the music.
Just randomly hit all the buttons and at some point 10-15 or 30 minutes into pushing buttons you MAY be able to talk to someone else. The amount of fuckery involved with ALL intercoms is unbelievable. You need a pre-ride coffe/tea/beer session that could take from 30 minutes to 5 hours to get everyone paired, then, you shut everything off and in te morning you have 20% chances that you will be able to talk to anyone in the group. Rant off. 😂
You are correct that if you randomly hit buttons the chances of it working are remote. So don’t do that. Just follow the very simple instructions and it will work. It takes seconds only if you do it correctly.
Hi! If the Edge is group leader can it share music to a Freecom 4+ or any other intercom ? I think I read it can’t be done which means I can’t upgrade to a edge. Can you or anyone confirm thanks!
Hey Chris, when we create group we need Edeg as a admin but when we ride next time .suppose the rider with Edeg not came so remening bolds group which created as Edeg admin will work or we have to create a new group ?
I have an Edge and my friend has a bold. The video is titled Pack talk Bold. But the narrator keeps saying pack talk black. I never used a PT black or PT bold. The information is helpful!
I don’t think this is a MASSIVE bug, i think what this is, is the Edge is backwards compatible, but the Bold is not forward compatible, which is obvious. The unit that is taking control has to change to the protocol of the other units. The Edge can down change, but the Bold can’t up change, that’s my take on it anyway.
@@michaelwilliams3861 was talking about the bug with having to shut down and restart the unit after adding a device. This is a legit bug, it’s not reasonable to assume I can restart the com after every added group member
@@michaelwilliams3861 it “fails” immediately and even sometimes after restart if you add or fail to add an older Cardo. You have to restart the edge a few times and it goes away. Makes pairing take 10-30 minutes depending on how many friends you’re riding with. I ride with a big group of all older packtalks and the Edge has been a pain since I got it.
@@michaelwilliams3861 As this is not listed in the owner manual as a limitation, from my perspective this is a bug. They stipulates the Edge CAN join any DMC Groups, which the Bold do. The difference with DMC 2.0 is the range, not the protocol. More than that, there is no JOIN button in the Cardo App as we see in the Bold or ScalaRider Packtalk.
This is over-complicated, Chris. I like you lots but you spend way too much time talking. Get rid of the phones on Cardo Connect and simply show the two units, Bold and Edge. Simply momentarily push the top button on the Edge and then the top button on the Bold and they will automatically pair. Push the top button on the Edge a final time to take it out of pairing and go on down the road.
