It won't connect for me. I plugged in a DUALSHOCK3 and then tried connecting to it through Bluetooth, but it says it failed. The LEDs are blinking, so I'm not sure what I did wrong. The battery wasn't full, but I'm not sure if that's a factor in this.
Larry Sigman did you do everything like i did in the video? The Battery does not have to be full at all, just not dead. Also try connecting via Bluetooth first with the Cable still attached. Let me know if that helps.
I have a similar issue. It is working when plugged in and I can see this through the gamepad API. I then enable bluetooth (while plugged in), click once on the ps3 controller and it pops up a dialogue box that says "Failed to connect to "Playstation(R)3 Controller". I click okay in this box and unplug the USB connection. I click the playstation button on the controller and it begins flashing (this is where you said the lights shouldn't come on and the chrombook should show that it is connected to the controller). Thoughts?
THIS IS NOT WORK it works fine over usb BUT whenever i unplug and hit connect button it does not connect. it says in my bluetooth list that it is connection, but it works with no games I try.
hey so i did everything you said to do in the video and it actually works when i plug it in because the emulater i use is definley picking all the buttons but when itry to pair via bluetooth it doest even show up in my bluetooth pairing screen does this work with chrome OS?
the hell is an API tester? How do I get one? Is there a specific way? how do i map my controller or program the or whatever? this was a vague video on what to do as far as making he controller actually work. Just thought you should know
Okay. So let's start at the beginning. An API (Application programming interface) is a method of a program that can be used by other programs to interact with each other. Chrome (and thereby ChromeOS) added the Gamepad API a long time ago, so that other programs (e.g. games) can take advantage of input methods other than keyboards (e.g. Playstation controllers). This Video demonstrates how to pair said Playstation controller to the Chromebook (mind you this was posted 5 years ago - so things might have changed in the meantime). There were (and stil are) (browser-)games that you can play on a Chromebook using this gamepad API. As this was all pretty new at the time i thought i might demonstrate how the not so intuitive way of pairing a bluetooth controller (or even multiple) to a Chromebook works. Hope that helps, if you have any questions - let me know. EDIT: forgot to answer the question what an API tester is. This is a program that uses said API to demonstrate to you that it actually works (therefore you see my hardware movements of the sticks represented on the screen)
BEWARE.. I lost control of my wireless keyboard and was unable to disconnect the PS3 controller under settings when the PS3 controller was connected.. #confused
i tried this and my controller with bluetooth connection has 4 lights blinking always on until i disconnect the bluetooth for it. if i use a ds4 as gamepad 1 and connect the ds3 to gamepad 2 by usb the ds3 shows up as second controller on its own light. once i connect to bluetooth all lights keep blinking
did you do everything i did in the video in the same order? as you have seen i can connect more than 1 controller at the same time. However i did not have a PS4 controller. Did the PS4 controller the same way as the PS3 controller did? If you have any other questions, let me know!
Nils Jakobi i connect the ds4 without connecting the wire. the blinking lights problem exists for more than one ds3 pad and i have black and white versions.
Nils Jakobi yes all the inputs work. i somehow managed to get one of my ds3 to connect and only have one light on. when i tried to do it on another ds3 pad the light appears on player 1 as well though while connected by wire, and reverts to blinking lights when connected by bluetooth
Hi, this don't work for me is there a new way to connect a DS3? btw.. this is what i get from the website : Oops!! We didn't find any HTML5 resources for ya.
i was sitting in my bed while doing this lol but it did not work it showed up in my bluetooth section for a second then it went away do you know why it would do that
I did a video on how to pair #ps3controller to #chromebooks via #bluetooth . Check out my video down below and leave a comment or questions if you have some.
can i play games with the paired ps3 controller on my chromebook, or control the mouse with the control? please explin ho if i can. thanks for the video, real helpfull, but i still dont know how to play games or contro the mouse with the ps3 controller
You can play games that use the gamepad API. So no for now you can't control the mouse with it. As android and chrome os will merge more and more expect more games to support game pad input. There are some in the appstore like tank rider.
Haven't checked lately but you can play generally some games from the web store or some other games online that have controller support, I know this is not a specific answer but i haven't used it very much in the meantime.
I haven't tested a ps4 controller but I guess they should work as well. The website is www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/doodles/gamepad/gamepad-tester/tester.html
+BlueUmbreonPlayz as this video is 3 years old, it might very well be that this method doesn't work anymore. I will however test it next days if it works for me.
Shitaki Mooshrooms you can test if your controllers work on, say a Chromebook. On Windows you have the gamepad settings but you lack those on Chromebooks. You can use the controller for anything that uses the gamepad API. I for instance controlled a robot with it.
