In this video Paul will be walking through the steps to pair your Fritz!Fon C6 DECT Phone to the FritzBox 7530 to use with your digital voice service.

The "purr" confused me too. I thought that this may be referring to the dial tone. Where a house has several DECT phones, does each need to be paired individually? How do you get the DECT 'pone to the point that it is ready to pair?

My digital voice works well with my analogue phone, but I have now bought a dect phone and can’t get it to work. It gives a message “check phone line “ but if I ring a number it doesn’t get through.

Hello i have just got my fritz box i have a Panasonic phone i have been trying to pair it for about 3 hours and still cannot get it paired

Had a similar issue today which got sorted with a quick call to Zen Support. Some config needed pushing out to the Fritzbox which support did manually for me

All you have to do is get your phone to the point it wants to pair (purr): WTF does that mean? This is the sort of helpful video that makes me want to throw technology at the wall

The video was excellent in explaining exactly what one had to do to connect an analogue phone...BUT it mentioned a black adaptor with out saying how one could obtain one of these. I think it would be much more helpful if this video were to be sent out BEFORE the digital connection had been made at the other end to give elderly (ancient) people who are not very technically minded to find out what they needed to do. I emailed Zen who kindly sent me an adaptor, but I also phoned and after a 40 minute wait a splendid lady told me that I could find the black adaptor in the box in which my router came. I've had the router at least 6 years, but I still had the box....and the black adaptor. I was needlessly without my landline for over a week which was difficult.

so i pay a voip company for service ,it comes with adapter to make calls can i do away with adapter by connecting it to dect port?

A little basic, this video - effectively repeating what's in the leaflet that comes with the fritz!box. Ironically Zen have just rung us to tell us the change has been made to sogea, and yet we can't use the same phone after following the stated steps! Is there nothing in the router that needs configuration - under telephony?

I'm still struggling a bit with setting up my phone. I have set up my analog phone using the cable already ( that is a base station and a second handset. ) If i use DECT pairing... do I just have to pair to the base station... and the second handset will work ok?

Hi Hazel, Could you please clarify if the DECT phone you are using is one that originally worked with the Analogue line or is it one that is specifically designed to work with a digital signal? Thanks Paul

@@howtobyzen They are both analogue phones that have a DECT connection. I think I've managed to get one phone to pair with the router, but the phone handset asks for date and time?

What if your Dect phone has a different telephone number to the your broadband line to your router? I have 2 lines from Zen.

What do you do if you don't use a Fritz box, but have your own router? I have an Orbi router. Also, similar to a previous comment, my landline and router are in different rooms (on different floors) in the house.

When I paired my Panasonic handset - all functions other than making and receiving calls were lost. i.e. the address book emptied and is unusable, speed dial, caller id no longer work. I'm not paring the other sets until I can resolve the lack of address book in particular.

My conclusion is ... if you have the original DECT base station don't pair your handset to the Fritz!Box as the handset loses it's address book, and you cannot access the one on the Fritz!Box. You also lose Caller ID on the handset. It becomes a very basic phone that can just make/receive calls. Instead just plug the base station into the Fritz!Box and you keep all of its original functionality, including Caller ID. (I re-paired my handset to the base station and the address book was still there.)

After two days of messing about with my DECT phones I have discovered that Vonage VOIP services will not work with the router's FON setup. I suppose it would be simpler to buy a VOIP package from ZEN but I'm not going to buy into BT style "price by minute" nonsense. Vonage is considerably cheaper and in my case, unlimited with calls to 60+ countries. I would use 1000 minutes up very quickly and I'm not going to pay for, "out of bundle" charges then the BT game of "setup charges". What's to set up? It's VOIP. This offering is astonishingly similar to BT's VOIP service.

"All you have to do is get your phone to the point where it wants to pair" - quite possibly the most useless "guide" to doing something I've ever heard. It's up there with "How to cure the world of diseases - find a cure". "Press this button" is virtually pointless "help". I expect way more than this from Zen.

Unfortunately this video did not help me. My phone keeps telling me to check the telephone connection. This DECT thing is terribly complicated. I wished they invented simple old-people friendly stuff..

Totally useless video. Wasted about 20-30 minuites thinking that "purr" meant the dialtone and trying/retrying to get my phone to "connect" to the Fritz box. Realising the speaker actually meant "pair" did not help. Get your phone to the point where it wants to purr/ pair - how does that happen? Do I nudge the phone up to the Fritz box and miraculously it desires to pair with the box? And how does it tell me? Not looking forward to yet another expensive support call to Zen :-(

It didn't explain what a purr was - it would have been so easy to include an audio example - and it didn't explain whether you need to reconnect the phone physically in some way. So I now have a landline on which I can't even make a 999 call. 0/10 marks.
