Absolutely does not work - while connected to internet via my Fritz!box 7490, I tried numerous times to enter my Fritz account using PW on back of router - all failed. If you are connected to your own internet, why on earth can you NOT access your own account to change a password!!
Hi Terry, Thanks for the message and I'm sorry that you've not been able to access the Fritzbox like the video shows. We test all the steps before we film and post the videos so it should work. I would recommend contacting us via out chat team www.zen.co.uk/live-chat and we'll have a closer look at this for you. Thanks, Chris
We have had a new service installed. We hooked up our router today but it is not connecting. The issue we are having (which is not covered in the video) is a flashing green PON light. According to the document that came with the video it says "Flashing green if it's making a connection". We have an engineer visiting tomorrow to look at it. Just wanted to ask if anyone else has had this issue either on a new provide or as a fault that has occured on working service and what a flashing green PON means? Does is mean a connection issue with the ISP (Zen in this case) or with the OpenReach network? Is it a software or hardware issue?
There are five buttons on the top of my 7530 router so which one do I press? What is the point of a video when this is not shown! Why am I wasting my time fixing this problem when the switch to digital is being effectively forced on me whether I like it or not?
There are five buttons on the top of my 7530 router so which one do I press? What is the point of a video if you do not show the button which is to be pressed! That said why should I be wasting my time sorting out a fault which this ultimately compulsory switch to digital has caused?
Hi SouLess4L, this particular set-up guide for the DGA4134 to Full Fibre won't require a phone/landline. It sounds like a non-Zen set-up you've got so it may be best to speak to your ISP to confirm the requirements for this! -Danny
we got a (BT Decor 2200 V2) phone with a RJ11 pluged in from the phone to the (EX230v Router) but no tone or anything when I listen to the reciver - but the little green light with the phone icon is on solid & green - but not sure if its all done migrating over to the new sytem yet as we want to keep our old number but the internet part is working just no functional phone use yet don't even know if our phone is even compatible - not sure how long I should leave it before ringing my ISP to ask why its not working or if its working
I have BT8500 phones and same issue. See David Billington comment below - I think I have same issue i.e. my phone number is not configured in my FritzBox 7530 Telephony Menu and its not clear how to add it. Ive just sent them a web message so hope its as straightforward as Davids fix. Crazy how little info there is on what to do if "plug and play" doesnt work for you.

I'm super dissapointed with Zen after being with them for several years. Should be getting 300 mbps but only getting under 100 mbps for 50% of the time. Emailed their customer services who were not at all helpful. Will be switching to another ISP.
It would be useful if you could add close-up shots of the adapter fitting and socket - can't see what's what from this distance. Otherwise useful video, thanks.
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear you're having issues getting on the router page. When connecting please ensure you're connected to the fritzbox wifi or through an ethernet cable, as if you're connected via mobile data or through another type of router this page won't load at all. If the "fritz.box" doesn't work, please use the 192.168.178.1 as the web address - I hope this helps! - Alex P
My digital voice service didn't work after the phone was connected as shown and assumed it was because no phone number was configured in the Fritzbox. The box came preconfigured to connect to Zen but no phone number was configured, whether this was an oversight at Zen I don't know but the broadband upgrade and digital voice were ordered at the same time. I couldn't find any information online about how to configure it so contacted Zen by email and got a fairly quick reply and verified the phone was connected as per video, subsequently got another email to say the VOIP settings had been sent to the router which I could see and after rebooting the router all was working as intended. I would say a fairly quick resolution at about 1.5 hours, thanks Zen. I presume from the video that the Fritzbox should have come with the number configured but in my case it didn't.
Sounds exactly like my situation. Also tried pairing my BT DECT phones with the Fritzbox with DECT base station enabled which works but still no dial tone - assume same issue ie telephone number missing. I tried adding it but wont accept without a load of Account Information fields being empty (Registrar, Proxy Server etc). Just messaged Zen so hopefully its the same quick fix. I'm fairly tech savvy but the lack of guidance on this process (yeah just connected your phone to FON port and it will all work) is outstanding. God forbid my 80yr old dad had to do this.
If I've previously had cityfibre from a different company, do I have to wait for the old provider to confirm the switch or can I just plug the new router in as soon as I get it?
Paul, many thanks for your very clear and concise tutorials, as a new Fritz user they are invaluable. i find the wireless cover in my bungalow is poor and have a "old" router that i wish to use as an extender. but as with many things "it dont work" or more accurately i do not appear to be able to get it to work, could you add a tutorial covering this? many thanks B
All you have to do is get your phone to the point it wants to pair (purr): WTF does that mean? This is the sort of helpful video that makes me want to throw technology at the wall
Do I have to have a landline to do this? The current Fritzbox menus are a little different to this video and I thought I might be able to use fritz fon to make wifi calls via my mobile provider to get around having poor mobile signal in my area.
@@howtobyzen You didn't caused any trouble, just your video doesn't have any setup instructions. Settings of the modem are quite challenging for the first time.
We completely understand that setting up a new device can be tricky, however for this particular MiFi the steps in the video are all you'd need to power this on and use the data from it, Jovan. Do you have a different modem at all we can assist with that isn't in this video?
If you have the BT master socket 5C with the filtered faceplate (the dual sockets @ 2:32) - you won't be able to pop the DSL cable directly into the test socket. Once the face plate is off attach the 'ADSL micro filter' which came with your router, into the test socket, then your DSL cable. You won't have needed this part previously as the faceplate was already filtered
I was informed by an engineer to avoid switching the power off on the open reach box, I had to have my wiring refitted as it was too much wiring the person that did this looped it outside my front door the service worked okay, since the the wire was cut and refitted there is an intermittent clicking sound, I do not know where it's coming from, and BT claim they have never heard of other complaints, load of tosh, as I have seen other customers complain of the same issue, I do have an engineer coming to check this.
I just joined Zen broadband. Received excellent customer service. Just received my router and my installation is 5th February. Not long now!!! I had a terrible experience trying to place an order with virgin. They cancelled both orders one day before installation then would give me many excuses or hung up on me. Zen are brilliant. I also applied for a job with Zen and have a assessment on 28th February. Free broadband for Zen employees. A bad experience led me to something amazing
Why my open reach ont is not giving internet when i conect to my ubiquiti udm pro directly and when i conect to sky provided modem its gives internet .? My question is. Is it possible to get rid of the sky router .. and conect from ont to my udm pro se
All I get is The internet connection check failed. The internet service provider is not responding to PPPoE packets. Repeat the test at a later point in time. Addition: They deleted the configuration for my username on their side and readded it. No issues last 2 months. Edited to include my resolution ...
Just a guess, as I'm preparing to change over to ZEN . . . Try using DYNAMIC IP and not anything that says PPPOE . This way the connection will be to anything that comes along - and not anything specific, that you can't connect to.
@@anorganlover6281 Cheers! It turned out to be something at Zen's end, they had to delete the configuration for my username and re-add it. I'd tried a second router and had the same issues, so I was guessing it was something they had to fix. And it was. Now sorted...!
Hello Archie, thank you for reaching out to us. If you have turned the WiFi off you can turn it on by pressing the 'WLAN' button on the router, this will start flashing and shortly after go solid, once it does the WiFi will be back on. Any issues, please let us know! 😊
Startling balance of patronising (can't imagine many people find the sink joke clever or funny) but still managing to use terminology most people won't know.
Your phone is brand new for your landline You pick up the phone it has a dead nothing no dial tone no nothing and when you call it from another phone the phone you can't hear the phone does not ring landline but if you wait there's a separate answering machine and that will come on but you never hear it through the actual telephone of the landline through the landline phone. And this is a brand new phone it's never moved from its area is not a cordless phone don't cordless phones are not good and.. it's just a regular phone that has the you know the other phones it's and it has a long cord and it just stays over there and has not been barely barely used throughout the years so it should be nothing wrong with it people don't use it like had to plug up a new phone that had for some years and it worked fine but happened to check it and all the sudden it's doing it again where it's all the sudden and doesn't have a doesn't have a dial tone so what is the you know this is ridiculous...... And it did the same thing they never gave me credit for that time when the phone was out cuz they lied and said that there was a problem with one of the phone lines and they said they will let you know when it comes back on they never let you know what happened to check one week and it was on okay now this particular time the phone is not it's just dead The phone itself but the answer machine comes on it's how do you fix it
Your service is awful at CityFibre! I have the ONT in place, all green lights, just need the green. Signed up to Zen, all their hardware is connected. However, getting the two talking is all on your and, just now, you say it takes two weeks to do that! I am in the queue behind all those who need the road dug up! Terrible service but, as you refuse to engage with customers, we just have to wait.
