Hey bart, I'm so glad youre making these videos! Fish can be confusing for many people to cook so its nice that youre showing people more in depth how to cook seafood 8) please do a video on how to perfect scallops when you have the time, they're kind of tricky and I want to be sure how to work with them before I try to cook them.

I like how Bart uses different types of oil to cook his food with. Vegetable oil, Coconut Oil, etc. He doesnt use Olive Oil on every single dish like most other chefs do. :D

That is an absolutely beautiful piece of cod. We're going fishing this weekend and hope to catch some of our own. Then it'll be off to the saute pan with oil and butter basting!

We are certainly eating more fish now, and looking and trying different varieties. I'm glad you made this video, I'd have probably put more oil in and basted the fish with that, much prefer your way.We have recently planted a variety of herbs near our kitchen and have been experimenting with flavour combinations mainly in scrambled eggs, I know dill is the most common herb to use with fish, but can you get the flavour from this and other herbs in the short time it takes to cook the fish. Thank You Bart.

Great to hear you are trying a lot of fish species! I also like to combine my seafood with fresh herbs but I always try to balance it and to not let the herbs overpower the taste of the fish, that is really important to me! We've just recorded a nice little recipe with salmon fish cakes which contain some herbs, so that is a nice one for you to look out for! Thanks Gary

is it really safe/ready to eat in that short amount of time? (i'm just a nervous first time fish cooker lol) ive never dealt with cooking fish until now. i am afraid of screwing it up loll
@ltravis4156
@ltravis4156 4 года назад
It just takes a few minutes on each side. If your fish is an inch thick I'd say 3-4 minutes on the first side and 3 on the other, while basting the butter the entire side. Throw it back in the pan for 2 minutes if it's not done enough for you. Easy peasy.

Exactly what Travis said! Also, most fish (and especially cod) has been pre-frozen at sea, so there's absolutely no risk at all. Enjoy!

I went through over a dozen videos before I found this one and every other one ruined the fish by coating it in flour and other condiments besides just the salt and pepper, thank you, it's what I was after and took over half an hour of wasted time as all said how to perfectly cook fish fillets and none did, may as well go to a Fish and chip shop if you are going to cover it in batter or crumbs.
