I'm Stephanie a twenty-something MTF Transgender RU-vidr.
Possibly my most requested video to date. Hello lovelies in this weeks video I am finally talking about my advice, tips and tricks on how to pass! PSA: Do not come for me. This video is for people who want to or have a desire to pass and there is NOTHING wrong with that so please refrain from being hateful towards any individuals who want or choose to pass. This video is a chance to share my advice from someone who’s been doing it for over a decade. There is nothing wrong with passing or wanting to pass so please refrain from being overly self righteous in the comments. I hope you guys enjoy this and for those who don’t? I don’t care 🤷🏻‍♀️ #MTF #Passing #Transgender

"Stand proud and be tall and just own it because confidence is key" THIS!!!
@RachelAllcock
@RachelAllcock 2 года назад
For me, one turning point and revelation was when my electrologist told me what the next client had said to her about me after my previous session: "She's very tall". (I'm 5'10“). Yet I hadn't been trying to pass! No makeup, no boobs or hips, just a somewhat androgynous look of jeggings, flat knee boots, hoodie with my hair down. But I'd provably passed. And I realised I'd been worrying too much about my height. That if I passed, people would see me as a tall woman BECAUSE THEY HAD ALREADY SUBCONSCIOUSLY MADE THEIR MADE UP ABOUT MY GENDER. Tallness may be an extra strike if you're already setting off "something's not quite right here" perceptions, but if you pass, you pass... I work hard to pass when I present female - I'm ambigender and have both male and female guises, though I now present female full-time at work. When I've asked if I pass, my (wonderful) boss has said "It doesn't matter, you don't need to pass to dress as you wish". But *I* want to pass, and so I wear hip pads, and dress to de-emphasise my shoulders (vee-necks, plus a little cleavage always helps!) and always wear makeup basics and epilate a lot and work on body language and voice and all the rest. Because it makes *me* feel good. And because it makes even those who know the truth not just treat me as a woman but over time come to genuinely *think* of me as one. No, we shouldn't have to pass, and many never will. I know one otherwise reasonably passable transwoman who has simply given up on her voice and stopped worrying about it. Another local regularly goes out dressed very femme but with a very obvious beard. But many of us do want to, and I hate to think of the stick you must have been getting to be so defensive throughout this video. There are enough people who hate us in this world without hating amongst ourselves.

For now I'm around 5.6 (I'm 14) and from what I have calculated, I will grow around 6ft. I'm not really happy about it but for now, my height doesn't feel complete. Probably because I can't transition and my only ways are mint tea and sneaking soymilk. I do come from a bloodline of tall, receding hairline, long masc nose and all of that kind of men. But yeah, I'm quite feminine (maybe except of my fucking back hair and chest hair starting to grow, what the fuck ew I hate it) but maybe it won't be bad until I move out and start E. Btw I love the vid Stephanie ❤

I think for me, the idea of passing means that I am never accidentally misgendered (intentional misgendering will always happen from transphobes). To that point, though, my goal is to pass in that way but I also am open about being trans in places where it is safe to do so (or where it is pertinent to any given discussion). So, I guess my goal is to be passing, but not necessarily stealth

Trans women as a rule have smaller hips and butt. Finding clothes that. present a more female figure is difficult. Not having hair is easy - buy and wear a wig. Finding clothes to enhance your feminine looks for day to day living is not so easy.

@@n1kogrindraws447 then you probably shouldn’t be watching videos on how to pass as a certain gender…. I’m sure there are plenty of “how to look androgynous” videos out there. Unfortunately the judgment and perception of others is something we have no control over.

The concept of passing and fitting into boxes is a futile one. As much as we want to pass why should we? We can't live if we're confined by boxes and labels.
@stephanielynnette

We don’t have to. But if you want to then that’s totally okay, and if you don’t want too? Also totally okay. This video was just for people who ask me how to pass from my perspective, thanks for watching!
@carlosmorris4510
@carlosmorris4510 3 года назад
I kinda agree... I think that the other side of it becomes about other people; about other people's willingness to accept people as they are. Obviously, being able to pass is great from a sociological standpoint - but I accept all kinds, personally; just like all of the different kinds of animals and creatures in the world. Variety is the spice of life; we don't all have to be the same.
@TruckerReena
@TruckerReena 3 года назад
I don't know, maybe I was a little too forward in my original thoughts. Early on in transition I used to put so much emphasis on passing, that my life couldn't exist at the level I wanted it to unless I both looked and sounded female. Maybe I set my pedestal too high, maybe high enough that I could fall off again. Personally my day to day life is fine, visually I pass 90+% of the time but that's purely down to confidence gained over the years. That all changes though as soon as I speak to someone and their focus on me changes? Do I care what they think about me? Of course I do, I just dont care about what they think as much as I used to. I think that's probably the true art of passing. Not really giving a damn anymore, or at least not to the point that it has a negative effect on our lives.
@stephanielynnette
@stephanielynnette 3 года назад
@@TruckerReena Do you know I completely agree. I think so much of passing comes from confidence and a disregard for others opinions.

What I wish for is a video by a 30-40 year old trans woman who transitioned after 30 to make a video on how to pass, because if you had puberty-blockers or started transitioning before 20, passing is generally fairly easy if you've been on HRT for a while. The other type of videos on passing I see are those who have had FFS and been on HRT for a very long time who lucked out genetically. There is very little you can do as a trans woman to pass if you haven't been on HRT for a long time, done FFS or already look like a woman. And all of these three things are something many trans women have to wait for ages for, or pretty much will never have access to. It hurts to say, but as a transwoman who started transitioning after 30 who is stuck in a year long queue to get HRT in a country with no informed consent, I will probably never pass. It is simply not an option for me. The best I can probably hope for is androgynous if I lose a lot of weight and wear a lot of makeup. It also doesn't help that the healthcare system of my country doesn't believe in optimal treatment, but minimal treatment. This means that injectionables, which have been proven to work more effectively, give more stable levels, and are way more convenient in everyday life, are completely out of the question. Am I envious? Of course I am. Many of us are robbed of the best years of our lives because of the society we live in that force us to be in a very secure and independent position to even consider transitioning. I say this as someone living in Norway, the supposedly most progressive, happiest and richest country in the world. It is also the country in Europe with the lousiest trans healthcare in Europe, with medical guidelines from the 1960s that still treat gender incongruence as a mental illness. You will get as little support as possible, and as little medical aid as possible, because "you might change your mind." FFS is seen as non-essential procedure, which means trans people who need it in Norway need to pay 50-60 000 dollars out of pocket in a country with supposed free healthcare. There are no health-insurances in Norway that would in any way cover FFS. But FFS is in fact perhaps the most essential procedure possible for transpeople, especially trans women's, quality of life. Your face establishes how people interact with you and see you. If you have a masculine face, they see a man in a dress, if you have a feminine face, they see a woman. That is the reality of it. Especially in these hypervigilant times where 40 year old wine moms and midlife crisis macho men run much of the discourse, and will both offer you violence if they spot you in the "wrong" bathroom. Not that I don't appreciate this video being made. It is important that all perspectives for trans women are covered. But, I see 10 videos like this to one video for women who don't automatically pass.
