How to PASS the British Army Fitness Assessment | 20 meter Bleep Test 

I’m 54 & had to do 8.8 to get into UK fire service. 5 weeks before test I twisted my ankle so couldn’t do anything much to prepare. The week before my test I did a practice & managed 6.7. Was advised to test anyway as even if I didn’t get 8.8 it would be good practice for the next training intake. Anyway, on the day I did 8.8! The other candidates were all 30+ years younger than me & this spurred me on and the adrenaline on the day did the rest. I smashed beep test and then all of the other tests on the day. I wouldn’t recommend twisting your ankle so close to the test though 😂.

smashed mine 1 day ago, only had to go for 6.6 ended up getting 11.6 which opened up paras for me :) very unexpected

I found beep test 2x week then varying my runs. Long recovery run x1 then 2km run at fast pace

Have you got any advice for mental barriers, I’ve got to my level for my role and above it but sometimes I just get this barrier which fails me in training

Hey mate is eight on the 20m beep yes okay ? I did it a while again so I’m hoping that in a couple of weeks when I have my assessment centre I will do better

Re-enlisting toward the end of next year back into the ADF RAANC and I will be 50 by that stage. Was a bit worried about that bleeping shuttle run...starting it a later level is a great idea and seems to be great way to accustom yourself to when it starts to get a little harder, thanks mate 🤙🍻

I run my 2k in about 8min 20 and need 11.6 on a beep test but heard the beep is way harder so really nervous has anyone had a go at both and could give me any advice many thanks

What happens if you fail fitness? Can you go again? Is there a cut off date?

I’m pretty fit but tried it for the first time today and only got 6.2 🤦‍♂️ and I need a 8.7, give me burpees and I can do them all day but beep test 😭😭😭
