Hi Kyle, great video, I've had a medical rejection from clear history of chronic Back pain and anxiety, the description is very detailed and doesn't relate to what I've experienced, for example: the back pain was from the construction industry, muscular but fixed from private treatment recommended by the doctor, the anxiety descriptions weren't close and don't even feel those symptoms anymore, I'm collecting the evidence with a supporting letter, could you shed any light on this at all? Thank you Kyle your videos are really good.
I imagine you may not see this as the video has been up for so long. I have a history of self harm and mental health issues from what i would consider a past life at this point. Its been years since ive struggled with anything mentally. Im currently focusing on finishing my degree (should be done by september) and then have been told to apply for the exemption once thats complete. My doctor has agreed to write a letter as soon as its required but ive decided it be best to get my degree finished and focus on improving my health. (Lost 4.5 stone in 4 weeks over christmas and maintained a healthy weight since) My main worry is sending the exemption and them still saying no . Would it be recommended to get a letter from a mental health nurse practitioner too as extra supporting evidence?
Hello mate, I’m currently in the application process for the parachute regiment have they binned the 2km best effort and the 4 miler from PRAC, the fitness standards I got from the AFCO just says 11.6 bleep test which seems too easy. Ps great content keep it up.
That’s just for the the army assessment centre mate, you will still have to do PRAC after completing the assessment centre. You can only attend PRAC once assessment centre is complete.
Hi Kyle, is this process their existing one please? On the form I handed into my doctors, it’s said “we need to see a copy of your full medical records kept by your gp to see if you are fit”… so I’m unsure what they’re exactly receiving at this stage (this is the last step before ac). Is it the full report? Or just the checklist please? :)
My doctor just today sent off my medical records, alongside a letter outlining a medical condition that might affect me joining (1 case of depression and anxiety) - he basically confirmed that they were linked together, explained in the letter how long ago it was (3 years) , how it is a one off, how there was a clear trigger and how he has no concerns about me joining as it isnt an existing medical condition. I'm hoping that this proves useful to save the hassle later down the line! Your videos helped me explain the template to him, so thank you and fingers crossed!
I'm going to take you to task on this, the Difference between Regular and Reserve, ok I am going to refer to the TA as I spent most of the 90s in the TA. The first thing is the Regular Army spent a lot of time in barracks getting really bored, especially those that were based in BFG. During Ex Rhino Replen 94 I watched a complete farse of a regular demonstration company that couldn't work with basic equipment, one Sgt managed to set his Mk 2 stove on fire, and it ended up being kicked into the River Wesser! Regular Army instructors actually liked training the TA because of their outlook, training was seen as fun, so the TA had bags of enthusiasm. The Regular Army spent weeks making recruits march up and down corridors to break them so they could try and mold them, the TA at the same Training barracks may have only been there for two weeks but because the TA squaddie is older and wiser they didn't need to do as much BS, yes we had kit inspections, quick change inspections but we dealt with them so we could crack on for battle skill skills week. What did I get out of the TA, two brilliant weeks at Catterick for basic training, travelled all over north-west Europe on exercises, 6 months in BFG backfilling for Bosnia, went parachuting with JSPC, and sailing with JSASTC, the social side was something else as well, I'm still mates with people from the units I served with, I can honestly say I was never bored in the TA
You can ask, it might push your start date back cause it depends on if they have any spaces for the role you want. Likewise if you choose a role they are in desperate need of you may find you get in quicker
Mate wanted to let you know i had my interview & assessment today and ive been watching a lot of videos on RU-vid but your videos has really helped me. I’ve passed my all my tests with higher grade and got a start date in two weeks 🎉. Thank you.
Think most infantry regiments do an element of it. When you’ve got some rank you can also volunteer to do a JWIC course (jungle warfare instructor course). There is not soloey a unit that only operates in the jungle unfortunately. Special forces also do a lot of jungle warfare 👍
Take a break, don’t constantly do the bleep test, mix up other methods of training. Strength training (legs) Running (interval sessions, tempo runs and long easy runs)
hello Kyle, i have got my assessment centre (Joining the Household Cavalry) in just over 3 weeks. Is there any last minute workouts/runs that i should do to get a good fitness score? Thanks.
For the next two weeks do 3 runs a week and some strength session. 1x slow easy run 3-5 miles depending on ability 1x speed session - find a track or a decent loop you can repeat. Run it about 80% of your max sprint. And rest the time it takes you to run so, for example if you run your loop in 2 mins rest for 2 mins. 5-10 loops depending on ability. Make sure you warm up and cool down 10 minutes of jogging to prevent injury. 1x long run 6+ miles, slow steady and enjoy. Try not to walk on these runs, if thag means slow it right down then do that but don’t stop! 👍
Wow so much has changed since i went through 22 years ago. We had the fitness test every 2 weeks. That was brutal. Anyone joining soon. Stick with it and keep pushing yourself. Good look!
Thanks for this looking to join rmp reserves (yes I am unloved and bullied (ps this is sarcasm)) just hate the fact I’m going to have to absolutely smash the cognitive test. Is there any tips on this or how to make sure your score is of a really high level?
Hello Kyle thank you for the video my son has been medically defered 2 weeks ago,we have tried to get a face to face appointment with GP but its virtually impossible at our surgery unless its an emergency, can we put that in the letter or is it a waste of time
I’d say it’s a waste of time, the medical team at army selection are on gonna take notice if you’ve got medical evidence from your doctor to overturn the deferral
I went to our recruitment office had my aptitude test, maths English etc, and then the same day off for a medical, passed no problem, and that was it, I was offered various positions I opted for an Infantry Regiment The Sherwood Foresters Regt that was at age 15 1/2 I went in Sept 1969, left in 1983 great days. Now it takes forever because it's mainly a civilian company doing it, there are some military advisors but it takes far, far too long. high time it was given back to our own military and sack the civvies.
Does the TA still have Non Regular Permanent Staff? I did that with 4RGJ before joining the regular army. This was mainly making sure kit was ready for use and general dogs body (GD'S ). With the TA, I asked to work with a few regular regiments so I was able to travel to Canada, Germany and a few more places. But as a regular soldier, there was even more travel
Hey mate hope you're doing great. Am humbled just i was inquiring from for i already submit my application a month ago and every information was clear and successful but in a few days later they sent to me a letter telling about my application that its unsuccessful due they are not taking commonwealth please what am i supposed to do can i wait for the feedback agen from them or can i reapply agen.??
For those who join his/her Royal Majesty's military, keep in mind that 9.10 is the minimum requirement that has to be sustained. Doing higher levels can grant you more time between tests but it's important to keep up that minimum level throughout your service whilst also not neglecting the other requirements of 20 Press ups and 35 situps a minute (For males of age 17-29 in any RAF Trade, unsure of Requirements of the British Army or Royal Navy but wouldn'tbe surprised if they had this requirement too. Female requirements as of current differ but full effort is encouraged and respected no matter what gender nor trade)
