I watch this before I change the oil every time to make sure I get the right torque each time. Thank you so much for taking the time to do these videos.
Great videos! As a woman of a “certain age,” I really appreciate seeing a woman mechanic do these things. It increases my confidence that I can do these things, too, even though I wasn’t taught to do them like the men in my family were. Well done!
You can add, How to reset your oil change needed in the dash.. Turn your switch on accessories without start it, press gas pedal to the floor 3 times in less than 10 seconds, remove your key.. Restart your jeep and go to look at your oil life percentage to see 100% ✌😁
Nice clear video! One thing is some mechanics have told me when torquing only click "once" as each time you click, you're actually going beyond the torque by moving it slightly. Now I must say I almost always click 2-3 times, but I've heard not to do that. Just curious your thoughts. Might not matter much and as we all know, shops often go over by a good 10-20 ft-lbs on things like drain plugs, and even more sometimes on lug nuts unfortunately. So I assume on a decent size bolt, going over 4 to 6 ft lbs isn't much.
Jeep Wrangler without the oil reset button: Turn key to the on position, press accelerator down to floor 3 times within 10 seconds. Turn key to off position and you're good to go.
Great vid, thank you. I'm wondering if like with other cars you can prevent it from "running dry" by pre-filling the filter with oil. I'm assuming this can't be done since the filter for this vehicle is at the top pointing down, but wanted to confirm that, thanks.
Should there be a spring in the oil filter cap somewhere? I took the cap off to replace it with an aluminum one and a spring went flying out. I cant see how the spring would do anything on the new one.
Another question - if we don't have ramps to angle the drain plug to fully drain, then is it a big deal or is letting it drain while perfectly horizontal just fine?
Good job having a hard time finding 5-20 Conventional oil. I have seen full synthetic for my jeep 2017 but not sure if I want to use it. What do you think I should use full synthetic, blend or conventional oil.
Hi.... Madam you did oil change perfect 👍 but I had a question for you can I use engine oil like 20w50 or 10w40 in Jeep Wrangler it's ok or not okay please reply......
It really depends. We always recommend following the vehicle specs, but if depending on the climate you live in, it may be beneficial using a different weight, but too extreme will be harmful to your engine. Check out our channel. We just did a video on oil changes and answer a lot of these questions. Thanks.
Anyone know if it’s ok for the stem in the oil cooler shifts and angles? When I put the filter on I knife of knocked it out of place but then I moved it back centered. Is that ok or did I break it or does it need to be replaced?
I would love to save this video is good, but I can’t help but notice that your engine bay looks totally different from mine despite the fact that mines a 2011 and should be included in your 2006 in Forward video
I got distracted during my oil change and poured my oil down where the filter goes...panicked when I saw oil pouring out from behind (towards the rear of the vehicle) the oil pan. Not sure why that happened since I learned oil still goes to the pan just might take a few minutes longer. Everyone assure me it’s fine. Just need to spray the undercarriage down real good with high pressure sprayer. Next time I won’t get distracted and fill it the correct way. Lesson learned.
That oil filter is horrendous! No way is this a better replacement for the traditional oil filter. Everything from the labor to the chemicals cleaning the housing is pathetic. I have a 2011 jeep wrangler and it's fun but the 5w20 oil is like water....not good, just like this stupid oil filter design. I'm going back to doing oil changes myself to keep my jeep away from mechanics as I did years ago...I'm here checking to see if things have changed and in this case it has for the worse. Checking my 2011 now in hopes it's the better design.
It's designed that way to prevent water ingress and also knocking a hole in a conventional filter if you hit a rock or something off road. For what the Jeep is designed for this is a brilliant design of filter. For the mall crawlers out there I can see where it wouldn't be such a good idea.
