How to Permanent RV Septic Pipe Install. Even though our big RV stays stationary, our sewer hoses were having to be replaced every year. By building a more permanent sewer connection we found that it is cheaper than buying new hoses and PVC Pipe will last a lot longer than any sewer hose. See what we used and how we did it.

I can get some video and show you how it was built. A good friend built it for me and he did a fantastic job. The cove has 6x6 columns and it 16 foot tall. it is 25 foot wide by 5 foot long. Keep an eye out and I will get a quick video on how it was built. Thanks for the comment and have a great week.

Hi there, great video. quick question. I have installed permanent connection to my RV to my sewer line beside the house that leads to the city line. I have installed sewer pump to pump it better, my question is, should keep the black and gray valve ON all the time, if not why not? thanks

When we got our first RV, it was a HitchHiker and I asked the service manager the same question of why can't I keep both the black and gray tanks open while connected to sewer. Here is what he told me: When you are hooked to sewer, you can leave your gray tank open but you need to keep your black tank closed. I asked him why? He said that you need to try and keep as much liquids in the black tank as you can so that the solids will flow and not build up. He told me that he would have at least 3 customers a month that would come in because their black tanks were clogged because of solids and the toilets would not flush. He told me to always use as much water as you can when you flush the toilet that water is a black tanks friend. Here is what I do. I keep the Black tank closed and make sure I have plenty of water in the tank. About every 3 to 4 days I flush and Drain the black tank. With the Gray tank, I keep it open until the night before I flush and drain the black tank. The night before I close the gray tank and capture the water from the evening showers and activities. This way when I drain and flush the black tank, I have Gray water to clear our the drain lines. Hope I answered your question. Thanks for the comment and have a great rest of your week!

Wonder if you could’ve heated and bent the pipe? Thinking about doing this also and thanks for sharing.

Richard, I would think you could as long as you got enough heat to it. The rubber joints so far have done great and give that little bit of flex I needed. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Do you leave the valves open on the tanks once it's connected permanently to the main sewer? Or is it still necessary to close the tanks and drain them periodically?
@TheWFarmstead
@TheWFarmstead Месяц назад
I never leave the Black tank open. Only the Gray tanks. When the Black Tank gets full, I will shut the Gray Tanks and collect water to flush down the lines after emptying the Black Tanks. Hope that helps and have a great week!

I'd be afraid of the trailer shifting and breaking off the connection at the tank. I'd use a 6" piece of sewer hose to make the connection at the tank end to allow for trailer movement. Depending on the county where you are located the fixed pipe all the way down could be considered a perm connection and may need to be inspected with that can of worms...
@TheWFarmstead
@TheWFarmstead 3 месяца назад
That is a great idea about the 6" sewer hose, could be easily done. The Fernco 1056-33 rubber Flexible Pipe Coupling does allow for movement of the trailer. Thanks for the response and have a great week!

How does this do in winter? Does it freeze?
@TheWFarmstead
@TheWFarmstead 4 месяца назад
Usually by the first of November we winterize the RV. On the below freezing nights until that time, we have had no issues. This is all I can tell you with our experience over the last 2 years. This setup is far superior to the regular sewer hoses we used in the past. Sorry I can't give you a better answer. Thank you for the comment and have a great weekend!

@@TheWFarmstead we heard you say "Jeff" and wondered if it was our Jeff or not. It has been nearly 3 years since we sold the rig and moved into this apartment in Richland, WA. Yeah, we do miss the traveling but miss, more than anything, seeing and visiting with the many friends like Tonia that we met while on the road. Take care and let us know if you are in the area.
