One mechanic that I think gets overlooked is keeping an extra card in your opening hand to skipe two nectar turn one. Can really accelerate play and block nectar from opponents. You can also dc nectar to cyle the tray vs drawing blind and hoping for a two cost bird to play. Also, also I looooooove peaceful dove. Forest is for sure the new meta and anyway to get eggs in the forest is where it's at, imo.
Since the ruff requires you to have at least 3 cards in hand at the end of the game to get the round 4 tucks, you probably should have taken the visionary leader bonus card, since having an excess of bird cards is something you want anyway.
I loooove a peaceful or mourning dove in my forest, esp with a tuck n draw. Just let’s you gain tons of nectar and play huge point bombs and bonus cards the whole game. You avoid gathering too much food bc you can discard extra seeds for eggs as you go along I’ll try to make the red wing parrot work outside of forest, but it never seems to have a nectar handy at the beginning of the round when I need to draw from the tray. It’s best as an egg layer in the forest imo. Finally, I love the eastern Rosella as a pseudo raven in the grasslands to get lots of food and eggs together
14:40 I would definitely have kept the puffin too. Keep the parrot, nutcracker and puffin. Play parrot instantly in the forest, use the power to lay eggs (or food since you get the eggs from opponents pileated), play nutcracker, grab food again and use the power to gain 2 food and play the puffin. Create a nice air sandow from there
