Bill, thank you for doing these videos for folks just starting out. I’ve learned so much and wanted to thank you profusely. I got my first audio book narration job after just five auditions! I credit the techniques you’re teaching and sharing. Many thanks and best wishes!

I like the fact that you talk about tenacity and work ethic and doing the things you don’t want to do, but you do it daily. I watched your vid on the book sales when you were in college so we must be the same age. Back in 92 they had the encyclopedia’s recruiting teams that came thru UK campus and and some how they recruited me. They told me I Would live with a family in Nebraska and that it would be from sun up to sun down. I asked my dad if I should do it, and he said, “ Go.. you need to get out of here.” At the lat hour I auditioned for Summer Stock theatre and lived in cabins with no air conditioning and by the end of the summer, I finally went home, when it was over, and my dad opened the bedroom door that I had when in Highschool before he went to work and said “ I thought I heard you creep in here at 3am…did it suck?” I said “ no comment”. He said “ Good.. it doesn’t get easier”

Sony Sound Forge is what I use. As for functionality it works for me. What I like the most is how I am able to make precise cuts. As you mention, if i make a mistake I can keep rolling and edit later. This works well especially if the read happens to be a long one. Sometimes while editing I find that a pause would sound better. This is easily done because of the functionality of being able to enlarge the audio file wavelengths allowing me to insert the exact length of the pause.

Hi Bill! Thank you so much. I've been an avid reader since I was a kid and have recently been thinking about doing this for part time work and seeing if it will turn into something more. I'll be fifty this year, so am looking for something that I would enjoy and maybe not be as physically demanding as past work has been. Just found your channel and looking forward to exploring your videos. Again, thanks so much! I have a lot to learn.

Hay Coach, enjoyed the video, you sound great. I'm so glad you made this video. One, it confirms my conclusion that your editing program has little to do with "sound quality". It's a matter of functionality, how many functions do you know how to use in your editing program and how many do you actually use. Learning how to record and edit your voice is a basic function. Graphic Equalization is another basic function you usually find under effect category and it has pre-set. Adding compressor is another basic function. Normalization is another basic function. I know I'm a student of Bill DeWees because you don't get to perform behind the mic if you don't know how to record your voice. Tech, Performance and Business. If you don't have the first two you have no business. Thank you Coach for always showing us the way. A guiding light that shines in the night. God bless you and your family. Go Bengals.

Soooo daunted about learning the software! Currently wobbling between Audacity and Reaper, leaning toward the latter

I get inspired every time I watch a video! Then I go look at P2P & all my auditions are done. I need to start direct marketing… I am not sure how!

Sorry to hear that. It’s difficult for me to know exactly what’s going on without hearing your demo/reads (sorry I only do that for my Blueprint members), but let me ask you some questions. Which platforms are you on currently and do you have a DIY demo?
