@@Tony_Jeffries can u make a video on taking your opponents strengths. For example taking away their jab. How to make a fast fighter slower & how to tire out brawlers. Salute I’m from Philly
Hey m8. Awhile back you had everyone leave a comment and you picked two winners that received a lifetime membership to your boxing academy. I was one of those winners. I had lost my mom a little bit before that contest and lost my last fight as well. I was down and out. We never got in contact and I never made it into the academy. I'm reaching out now in hopes to get that chance because im ready to get back in the ring.
Obviously...as a champ turned coach and influencer. But JT Van V and Fran Sands are a couple of the original YT coaches, and nobody does POV padwork like JT (Precision Striking)
Twenty years ago I went to a boxing gym regularly. Did not do much sports in the last years. Now, since a couple of months I am doing calisthenics and shadow boxing again, mostly re-learning how to move, footwork and the basic combinations. Yesterday I got approached aggressivly by a guy one head taller than me. He pushed me. I shouted at him, if you push me again, I will defend myself and that I don´t wanna fight. He doubted, took a step back and the altercation was over. Without thinking I moved into the boxing stance and showed confidence. I was ready to fight. It worked for de-escalation. Thanks Tony for your great work!
hey sir i am in 10th standard and i would like to thank u 4 teaching me this wonderful art u r a great coach and now i am confident to say that i can dominate people 4 my defence u r the great sir
Tony, I direct all of our amateur lads to your channel. I tell them to practice your footwork/combo techniques and shadow tf out of them. Keep it the same. You've a top drawer boxing channel for everyone who wants to learn how to box! 👌🏻 🥊 🇬🇧
Every video is spot on, every time. Thank you for all your hard work and positivity that you put into your material. These boxing videos are among the best on here. Salute.
Great video Coach! I’m currently enrolled in your program, about 40% through it with no chance of giving up!!!💪💪 you really are an amazing coach, thank you so much man! 🙏🙌
Different system, but I was taught for the most part just to make sure you lead foot is pointed at your enemy when you plant it and the body will follow. That, of course takes a lot of practice, but it’s decent starting advice. If you’re balanced, your punches are gonna impact perpendicular to your lead toe, so keeping it pointed at your target is the only way to ensure you can attack and defend yourself at all times. Rant to void complete. Great video.
All we need is just learn how to avoid getting macheted or get home without getting stabbed in back-neck nowadays. And here we are learning the boxing. Thank you sir, stay safe.
Tony, loved seeing your detailed description of % of weight distribution from ball to heel when in boxing stance. Would love to continue to see that kind of granular detail of weight distribution % and shifting on all videos for technique. Knowing the percentage of weight and when to shift in the movement makes practice so much more actionable. Could you do the same for lead and rear hooks? You're a boxer and an educator in my book! Thanks so much for all you post out of genuine love of the sport.
Fabulous video Tony. I tore the meniscus in my knee down to bad pivoting (the very stuff you highlighted here). Luckily I've healed up and won't be making the same mistake again. Cheers!
Very well explained, the step with pivot hook is really a thing of beauty but is very advanced move, but very effective, especially in real sparring, needs perfect timing but is really a lovely shot if you can master it, just shadow boxing the pivot over and over is a good way to drill it into muscle memory, Tyson used it a lot very nice
Very nice and detailed video 👌 good explanation of what to focus on while moving your feet. And that's so important, so one can understand and feel the actual benefit of doing it.
I actually saw the pivot hook in a manga years ago. A streetfighting manga... And the guy who used it, a former amateur boxer, was the strongest guy in town (enough that when he "graduated" from the streets he quickly became a kickboxing champion).
Another quality video, thanks for another drill for me to work on. I have to ask Tony, are you sporting a black eye? ...Maybe it's just the lighting????
Hey Tony, random question, for the past 6-7 months I've been training and practicing boxing for about every day. I spar with me brother sometimes and you've been a great help with your teaching, ive tried convincing my mum and dad but they aren't moving on this. I understand boxing isn't a great move for a kid like me at my age(14)but it's something I really want to persue. If there's any advice you could give me, or anything I could say to them to convince them, it would be well appreciated. Thanks for the adivice mate.
My advice is refine your technique through light sparring and working the bag and shadowboxing, and while you're at it try and find a boxing gym or opportunities to go to a boxing gym and introduce yourself yk
amazing man, i'm almost 30, is too late for me to start practicing boxing? I want it for self defence, nothing too crazy like becoming a champion or anything like that.
Hi Tony, could you do a vid on overly leaning forward when throwing shots and moving around please? I have a tendency to have 80/20 split of weight on my front leg
Question Mr. Jeffries. You showed a point where your back foot was planted "the same time" as your hook was connecting, but the video shows your hook landing way before your back foot plants. From the laws of physics and energy transference it seems as though the back foot would really need to be planted to apply proper or at least intended force from that punch, which would necessitate the back foot being planted BEFORE the hook lands. Was that an error of demonstration or is there a principle I am overlooking?
@Tony_Jeffries I dont try to be a hater or whatever but you clearly land pivot hook while your back foot is still traveling. You did it multiple times here. As they sould land at the exact time to maximize power, using this momentum swing.
How do you move if you are older and don't have as much bounce and stamina as you used to? I'm 55-y-o, 6' 1" and 250 and footwork is something I'm working on.
I’m 15 and 4’11 and 116 pounds. i don’t know how to box but i want to start, I’m trying to find a pace but want to have some background knowledge. How do I start?
Trying my best on how to learn everything I can so I am able to protect my 3 children and myself as their father is no longer with us and as a mother and a woman I need to learn everything I can to protect my children and myself
Sir I have a loss streak of 2 I have given my best but lost the game... I am leaving the game cauz I have sacrificed many things for the match but I lose
Yeah Tony I didn't renew my membership on you and what he did you take me to the Philippine Islands you're out there educating a bunch of bunch of s*** heads for free I'm not going to pay money for that Tony
