@Humble & Deadly i like how you backed up your statement with a good arguement but i dont think conor deserves to be up there even though they have a similar style for their respective arts conor has no class or respect doesnt have an ounce of humility some of the things that were huge in ali yeah he talked shit but he was humble he wasnt speaking out his ass he wasnt being a piece of shit outside of the ring there's so many things that make it wrong to put conor up there with a legend like ali but at the same time i cant say much bad about his fighting ability so you make a very good arguement but imo would just be impossible for me to have conor on the same picture as ali

@@jplcashi don't agree with conor has no class or respect. He was always respectful towards his opponents after the fight regardless of the results. You see his press conference after the Aldo win and after loss to nate diaz proves it. But by the time of Eddie alvarez fight guy went on a dark path and lost his way.. But he's a changed man now. Getting better and being respectful. That loss to khabib was necessary.

The Cus D'Amato taught peekaboo style wasn't about taking impact from punches on your gloves it was about weaving and slipping punches in a defensive scream (almost moving in a pendulum like motion) in a way that would position you for a counter punch or a combination of counter punches. The guard Cus taught Patterson and Tyson was also lower than you demonstrated, Tyson placed his gloves on his cheekbones so vision wouldn't have been impaired. Probably the most difficult style to master out of every one including Philly shell.
@thinkb4uspeak643
@thinkb4uspeak643 2 года назад
True but I think alot of it had to do with Tysons build ,speed n power that stlye perfectly fit him ..I think cus would've trained everyone slightly differently depending on the person's strengths and weaknesses..no doubt one the very best trainers to do it..
@joemama6544
@joemama6544 2 года назад
@@thinkb4uspeak643 yeah, you can see how Floyd Patterson doesn't keep to a tight guard like mike tyson for long periods of time, as mike tyson was looking for knockout/damaging punches whether Patterson was looking to take advantage of the speed he had. If you watch his fight against Muhammad Ali, (in my opinion) you can really tell that the style didn't suit Patterson

The reason why the peekaboo style worked so well for Tyson (at least when he used it) was his speed. He was quick, and when he trained before the fights it was ridiculously hard to hit him and stop him from coming in. If you use peekaboo and don't find a way to close the gap you are basically standing there waiting to get your ass kicked.

Spot on Chris. It's a hard style and dam you need to be super fit to use it right. I'm also a short fighter and wished I was taught it in my younger days. But sadly there is not many out there who can teach this style correctly in most areas and also you need different exercises for your muscles in this style as you really don't stop moving lol.

Peek a boo is undeniably one of the best style in boxing packs alot of power and defended like a turtle in its shell. However the technique takes years to master and it's not a joke it's all about positioning if you can't close the distance then you'll just eat a long range punches . Not recommended for newbies you need to master it 100% ,it's not going to be easy but trust me once you you're one of the most deadliest boxers.

@@The.panthera., No, not exactly, some stances are are ideal for novices. The Philly Shell is a style you should NOT implement in a fight until you’ve trained that style for a long time. Reason being is, the Philly Shell requires too many components for it to be successful, ie Good reflexes, great boxing IQ, great vision, and a lot of speed. If you lack just one of those components, the Philly Shell is easily compromised, whereas, other styles give more error room for a fighter who’s not well honed. The Philly Shell is the best boxing stance if you master it, hence the reason all of the greatest defensive fighters were practicioners of the style.

@born_supreme 3 года назад
@@landon7453 Yes it would lol. The Philly Shell relies less on the gloves than the other styles mentioned except the hand down stance. The Philly Shell’s strength is the tight narrow target it presents. If you’re good at it, you’ll be nearly impossible hit clean, glove or no gloves.

@@landon7453 Bounce off of the shoulder? Do you box, my friend? A blow is a blow. If you slip a punch, you slip a punch, it doesn’t matter if you have on gloves or not. 1st of all thank you for all you share with us, this is by far one of my favorites when it comes to learning things online when it comes to boxing. Also I would like to request a future video on Baiting and forcing counters/ setting traps. More ideas for me. Sometimes I feel like I run out of tricks or ideas in the later rounds and I don't want to keep doing the same things over and over and have my opponent catching onto all my tricks. Again thank you for all you do, and I hope to learn as much as possible from your videos I truly appreciate them

I use all of them, depending on the situation, I'm a tall, strong and heavy mixed with my agility, fast punches and high mind respons. I use the peek a boo technique when versus heavy and slow attacks, the classic one when versus fast opponents, the "Phily" one when I'm waiting for the movement of the enemy to use my main attack: the counter attack.

i love learning new techniques and styles and most importantly the weaknesses of each. During my MMA training the majority of people there do mostly boxing punching and some that are more experienced than me use a difficult style which i haven't been able to find a way to beat and so I've been experimenting with different movements, fighting styles, and techniques to try to bait him out and i finally managed to do so today and change it so that instead of him having the control over the fight the whole time, i finally have it which felt incredible because i was able to slip, duck, and dodge out of the way of all his strikes and get some good clean counters in as well and because im still new it feels soooo incredible to be good at sparring and btw he doesn't go easy on me either, he is a good mate of mine but ever since i started training with him if I messed up and he got an opportunity then he would knock me on my ass without a second thought which since i come from a taekwondo background where most people have never actually been punched i was the same and so he has taught me not to be scared of getting hit and to loosen up and now id like to think im getting to his level just after a year!

There's no way to guess how good Ali might have been if MMA had existed back then, or how good a pure boxer MacGregor might have been. We end up with "imaginary hypothetical Ali" and "imaginary hypothetical MacGregor", which is so made-up that we might as well argue whether Thanos could beat Mr. Spock at Texas Hold-Em.

Nice, you should talk about the Crossed Arms Guard George Foreman used in his late years, that shit was mental. Of course he had THE CHIN and received alot of shots, but legends like Archie Moore used it also and it was very effective, it's really interesting but very rarely implemented nowadays, i wonder why.

Spar with an open gaurd (hands low) with an experienced, trustworthy partner. Get used to simply moving, bobbing and weaving out of his way, plus throw the odd light counter. Neither of you are attempting to hurt each other. Active footwork and head movement is what your working towards. Once the movement is natural, stiffness will cease.
