I just got back today from Acadia Bar & Harbor. I was also saying I wish we had walkie talkies. I think that is extremely important especially with large groups Iike ours was. I was also thankful that I had good hiking boots. 😊

A great video guys. You covered a lot of the best parts of the main area of the park. All the tips were fantastic. Interestingly enough I've found my phone does work on the mountain tops lol. Nothing to block signal up there. Fall is phenomenal up here. First week of October is usually peak color season. Also for Bass Harbor headlight. If you're not adverse to a bit of a walk you can find spots to park in the town. It's about a 35-40 minute walk but, it's another option.

Hello, and welcome to our Go Travel On The Cheap community! 😃 You are welcome; it is our pleasure! When are you visiting Acadia? We stayed kind of far out from the national park: Brooklin, Hampden (this was a rainy, work online day), Belfast and Gouldsboro... But we did not mind the drives plus we needed the better prices since we are always trying to travel on the cheap! 😁 (We explored the northern Maine coast the next day when we stayed in Gouldsboro after leaving the park...) The B & B we stayed at in Brooklin was a bit of a splurge for us, but we loved it--caught the most amazing sunrises and enjoyed the best blueberry pancakes there! Feel free to ask us any more questions you may have... 😊

@@GoTravelOnTheCheap Are those 4 different towns (Brooklin, Hampden, Belfast, Gouldsboro)? Where exactly did you stay in those towns? If you were there only 3 days and can get around the whole island easily, why did you stay in those different locations?

@@scottw4202 Those are 4 different towns, yes... As we said above, we stayed in Hampden for a rainy, work online day. And if we recall correctly, Belfast was our stay on our way back from exploring northern Maine, heading south again on our road trip. Gouldsboro was a stay after finishing up our time at Acadia, on our way to explore northern Maine. Our main "camp" while visiting Acadia was in Brooklin. These stays were all through Airbnb--we use them the most. Perhaps if we had looked elsewhere, we could have found "Go Travel On The Cheap friendly" accommodations on the island, but through Airbnb, it made sense to stay farther away from Acadia. 😉 Also, when possible, we typically wait to book our lodging less than 7 days in advance. This gives us the freedom to discover new things & places without being locked into reservations in certain places. All of these stays for our time in Acadia and northern Maine were probably booked only 5 days or less in advance. Thanks for watching & commenting!

The great thing about Maine is that it's cheap compared to others. We have some pretty incredible sightings here. Also though please stay away, summer traffic sucks.

Hello and thanks for the real life videos. We retired and enjoying traveling .Did our first trip to Zion and Horshoe Bend and Antelope. Headed back out there from Georgia. Want to do Bryce and can you suggest others. Will make it a week trip. Where to fly in to. Where to stay.

We stayed at a terrific B&B in Brooklin... A bit of a drive but worth it to us for the savings and the beauty of both the drive and where we stayed 🙂

@@GoTravelOnTheCheap yes, we went couple of weeks ago. Wonderful place! Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to do everything we wanted to. Another reason to go back I guess. 😉 As far as seeing sunrise from Cadillac, we could not do it. Parking was hard to reserve. It was literally gone in minutes of being available. We went to Otter cliff and that was amazing by itself. We ran into one group that parked on park loop road and hiked to the mountain to see the sunrise. We had a five year old with us so that wasn’t an option. We had a great time.

@@GoTravelOnTheCheap it is the section of park loop road where road splits for few yards and joins again after the curve. One part of the road is more raised than the other. Along the road, it is the next big stop after thunder hole I think.

you mentioned you couldn't get a parking ticket for the sunrise at Cadillac Mountain... were they that difficult to get?

We would suggest you call Recreation.gov to find out how soon in advance you can purchase a Cadillac Mountain reservation. You might have hold time, but it went much more smoothly via the phone than online for us for the Sand Beach reservation we obtained. Unfortunately so very many of our national parks have gotten quite busy...but it is nice to know people want to get out and explore our beautiful country. Perhaps you can visit Acadia on the off or shoulder season?

We go first week in June every year, not too bad. Need to be flexible and have back up plans of things to do. Carriage Roads are awesome. Our raining day plans are to go for ice cream.
