It's time for me to take my amaryllis bulbs out of dormancy and to get them planted so that I can enjoy their blooms during the winter months.
Here is a general timeline to follow:
January - May: Remove spent blooms; keep on a bright windowsill; water; fertilize
May - June: Plant outside after frost (in ground or in pots; fertilize.
August - September: Lift bulbs, place in cool and dry location for 6-10 weeks; do not water; 50-55 Fahrenheit
November - December: Clean bulbs; plant in pots with fresh potting mix; start watering; Place on a bright windowsill; 70-75 Fahrenheit; bulbs should bloom in about 8 weeks
