Mirkwood is actually rendering right now and should be uploaded tonight. After that, we will just see what people vote for the most. And yes, we will be doing every army in the game! :)
Thanks Devin for this, I really do appreciatethe time and effort you guys put in to teh channel. After finishing my all mounted Gondor I think I may have to paint up my 500pt Isengard army. One problem with teh pike phalanx, I am told, is that if tyou lose the fight and you are 3 ranks deep your front modal counts as trapped as only one model is aloowed to move out of the way (but you have two behind)! By the way, what does DC stand for? I know, a lame question. :)
You are absolutely correct that a Phalanx will trap you. That is why I like the idea of Heroes or Berserkers in the front so that they will rarely lose the fight. Though it is true that if you do lose, your front rank warrior will most likely die. However most armies would be very afraid to take an Isengard Pike Block head on. I imagine that many of our viewers from the U.K. might not know what D.C. means, so it is not a lame question. D.C. stands for District of Columbia. It is the capital of the United States and our primary location.
warg riders are not so bad, compare them to riders of rohan, they got 2 attacks (warg + rider) while rohan got 1, also they use the strength of the warg (4) and when the rider is killed, the warg can still fight when a courage test is passed. btw, i bought the normal ukruk-hai (pike + sword) second-hand and payed 13 euro (about 15 dollar) and got 3 mordor uruk-hai, and 3 uruk-hai commanders for 4 dollar (that last one i was VERY luck with) so it is not even so expensive if you don't care about bad painting. (you can always get the old paint of and paint it yourself)
I also saw on GBHL's podcast that they might be up for a skyping special guest, I did see that you told them how to contact you but I think that they don't check the comment until the next speak friend and question- just incase you wanted to let them know ASAP for next week it might be to late. Just somthing I think it's somthing you should or already are aware of- I'm very much excited for the idea of you staring on a speak friend and question
William Merrix Awesome news to hear! We always welcome new players in our league! Also great to have another Isengard player. We will be doing a battle of Helms Deep really soon.
Mauhúr is one of the more widely contested names as far as pronouncing it goes since it is generally seen as unwieldy to say. I believe you said it right though. Keep up the nice work.
What are the Uruk-Hai scouts archers shooting stats? And can they also move 8 inches too? Ive bought this set and didnt come with their stats pretty bummed i dont know how to play them right.
This largely depends on what tournaments you go to. Games Workshop and GBHL tournaments often go by WYSIWYG. So in those it would be sometimes a no, but you have to ask the T.O. But in DCHL tournaments, we allow all proxies and thus Arnorian Rangers would be perfectly fine.
GreenskinHolland Unfortunately, games workshop seems to be in the process of updating thier rulebooks and therefore there really is no place to buy them. However, we can send a scanned copy to an email address if you would would like so that you can play the game. Send an email to dchobbitleague@gmail.com and we will let you know when we can give it to you
DC HobbitLeague Also if your feeling really ambitious, you can use the PDFs provided on the dchobbitleague.com website and the army builder from lonely knight. Using the combination of the two will give you all the rules in the game besides core rules. You can find all this on www.dchobbitleague.com
Hey Devin what's your main army? And how do you play it? Mines dwarves and I just charge in, denie them passage and grind them down before my defence and fight value wins out
Actually, as you might notice as time goes on, I play every army in the game. However, I think the Dwarves are awesome to use and I have lots of them. I typically like to abuse the Multiple Heroic Fights they can do with Thorin and Sheildbearers
Dwarves are great- although when trying to use fluffy armies for them I do find myself low on might, with sometime Floi, always kings champion and usually a shield bearer- I find myself ineed of a fluffy solution that allows me to bump up my heroics
Acthon39 Unfortunately there are very little fluffy ways to increase your might when you overload on Combat Heroes. The best way would probably be the new Ori, Champion of Erebor and use you combat Heroes like Dwalin, Balin, and Thorin. Though really you must just learn how to chain-link Heroic Fights to get the most use of them. If you don't know what I mean by this, I can certainly show you in a tactics video.
When u said something about putying beserkers in front, I thought spears and pikes cant support warriors wielding a 2 handed weapon. Or is that just old rules?
there haven't been any price increases... The prices you show in the video are in Canadian dollars :) A good start to Isengard IMO would be: 2x boxes of uruk warriors Uruk Scouts Ugluk and Vrasku Mauhur And that comes to $110.75. So slightly over budget but it tallies in at 496 points and gives you all the basic troops you need to get going. Warband 1 Vrasku 10 uruks (5 shield, 5 pikes) Warband 2 Ugluk (or proxy as uruk caprain with heavy armour and shield) 10 Uruks (5 shields, 5 pikes) Warband 3 Mauhur 12 Marauders (4shields, 4 bows)
Oh no! How did I get on the Canadian site!? Good Catch! That makes my job a lot easier then! I think your list is perfect and most likely something I would have recommended had I known the true prices. Great job on that!
It's cool. I got scared and checked the prices here in the UK and realised they where the same as they'd been. So I did some snooping for ya :) Just be thankful you didn't get the Australian prices... Poor guys!
