Robert hosts this episode of how to play Minas Tirith. He gives the breakdown of strengths and weaknesses, as well as general tactics. Also, Devin talks about how to buy the faction for under $100
It's all about the fountain court guard. Problem with the tips on starting the army for under $100 is that you're well out of your bow limit when you add in the Rangers.
Ah you are correct! I forgot that the rangers force you to take bows for each of them. I suppose the Gondor Archers could be modeled to remove their bows to correct this, but we will release a follow-up on this. Thanks for letting us know
Good video, I especially like the how to buy for under$100 idea. While you would have to be careful with the bow limit with the rangers there are some great ideas there. Also I wish that when I starting playing Gondor I knew to buy the Faramir Damrod first! haha I also wanted to mention about Beregond that he is not actually ever a captain. First he is one of the guards of the citadel and then he is banished from the white tower to become part of the White Company who are Feramir's guard in Emyn Arnen. You could make the case that he became a captain of the White Company. Secondly.. Saruman really? lol I'd say it fits into the "not themed" category. But good list.
Hi guys, thanks very much for this as I am a) collecting Gondor as my main army, and b) using it in April at a tournament. But I'm going out on a limb with my 600pt force as it will be all mounted! One of the things you didn't mention, was that Citadel Guard can be mounted which gives you a skirmishing mobile bow force. Now I know this would make them expensive, points wise, but, if you give them a spear as well, they again can support Knights of Minas Tirith and give that F4 to the duel. Of course converting Minas Tirith Knights to Mounted Citadel Guard can be expensive money wise, but i'll just be using plastics in order to do that. But, I have yet to play a game against anyone (apart from the Escape From Goblin Town scenarios) and so I expect to not be very competitive both with this army and my lack of experience. But, to put 28 mounted Gondor figures on the table and re-enact the charge at Osgiliath (and we all know what happened there) is the theme and fun of my army. Thanks again for the content I will definitely watch and comment on more. Regards Al
Hello Al, thanks for your support on our video! We actually did consider the fact that Citadel Guard can be mounted and at first we thought they should be added in, however we soon agreed that they probably are too expensive for what they are offering if mounted. If they are mobile then they will regularly be at shoot value 5+ which is terrible for the points you would pay (mobile cavalry should have base 3+ to be effective on the move). They do have the nice addition of bodyguard would guarantees a charge on terrifying models but they lack hitting power due to no lances..... However, you have brought up a very interesting point about them supporting knights of Minas Tirith since no where does it say you cant support while mounted. This is something to consider and we certainly thank you for bringing this up. We will mention it in a future followup video.
15andersh We are really glad you like it! We are trying to use these videos as a showcase as well as an instructional. We will try our best to show only the best painted armies we have if possible
DC HobbitLeague Oh i'm glad. Ive actually got a collection of all the main armies except Isengard which im building now. Would appreciate you guys doing one for them - but I look forward to watching them all :)
Thanks for the instructive video; but you forgot to mention the Osgiliath Veterans and their synergy with Faramir and Boromir. Your heroes are very well painted, especially their faces!
1GoodRiddance Ah you are correct! However, we personally do not recommend them. Fountain Court Guard are far superior for their points and have at base value what the Osgiliath veterans have only when 3" from thier two leaders. The only advantage of the Osgiliath Vets is that they can carry bows, which is of much less importance in todays gameplay
Epic video,I am collecting gondor as my personal main army, mainly minas tirith with some Doo amroth extras, thanks for the helpful tips and strategies,in a future video could you talk about the siege weapons?
Actually I have done an entire video on siege weapons if you would like to check it out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rpw-CZXmqcg.html Though I will bring up siege weapons more when I do the How to Play videos
@Tom Turtle: Actually yes we have heard of the GBHL. In fact, our group is inspired from them. We plan to work closely with the GBHL in the future and even join them in tournaments. We consider ourselves basically a sister organization to their group. Our website also credits them quite a bit. Feel free to check it out at www.dchobbitleague.com
Bald Eagle Absolutely! We will record that one tonight. Though I may just do the new Mirkwood Elves rather than the old ones. I'll leave the old ones for a separate video
DC HobbitLeague Thank you very much, it means a lot to me that you took the time to read my comment, thank you so much and by the way me and my friends love the content on this channel. Thanks again!
Bald Eagle You're very welcome! We try to respond to everyone on this channel as much as possible. The goal is to create a sense of community like the GBHL does. And we are really glad you like the content. If there is anything you would like to see more of, please let us know.
Hey guys, love the channel! Great to see the hobbit hobby is going strong in the US and has some great support. Awesome content indeed! Have have you heard ofThe GBHL RU-vid channel?. They have been going for quite a while now and have lots of similar content. In their latest weekly Q&A ( speak friend and question ) they asked us to spread the word about the channel so I guess that's what I'm doing. I'm sure youd love the channel and I would recommend it to anyone else who likes the DCHL channel to check out the GBHL RU-vid channel! keep up the good work guys :)
Yes we just didnt wanted to play quite a few games before giving our advice on the factions. We will be posting more videos very soon on all the factions
17:15 if you can use Saruman in your Gondor army then I get to create alternate versions of him and Radagast to resemble the Two Blue Wizards in my Easterling Army: tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Blue_wizards
Back when we made this video, we werent making pure lists. However we have changed that standard for this style of video. Expect this video to be redone in the future with no allied models.
This video is a bit older and unfortunately we couldnt comment on models we hadnt played. But now that I have far more experience with the game, I would certainly recommend a few Mounted Citadel guard to capture objectives and charge Fell Beasts. Its the Body Guard rule that really makes them worth taking
No there is not unfortunately. The only Hobbit Leagues in America are in the D.C. area, Boston, Colorado and Chicago. Though we do have players from Indiana come to NOVA Open. So we can connect them with you
