I have a question. When you show the fingering for 2 notes, like E flat and Dsharp you play those notes with the same fingering. Right?

Absolutely! No flipping around in a book, whilst the sax has to be taken down, and the flow - and the previous note - completely lost. Well done indeed.

Fantastic video. I have a question: I have been self-teaching saxophone for about two weeks now using nothing but RU-vid and just messing around by myself. I am really getting the hang of it now and this video is perfect to help me understand the way the saxophone works. My question is are there any situations in which any of the alternative fingerings shown in this video are preferable? Or is it simply a matter of choosing the most comfortable fingering for you, or choosing the fingering which is easiest to change to after the previous note? Thanks :)
@Gojoseba

It depends on the notes in the measures that use a fingering that is hard to get to using normal fingerings

Pleased to see the enharmonic naming of the notes , as used in notated music for reading saxophone parts in bands/ orchestras ,. There can be a tendency to play the higher notes too sharp , sometimes because of tightening the embouchure unnecessarily and not correcting the pitch by hearing the pitch in one’s head and using steady diaphragm breath control.

Thank you very much for teaching me the alternative fingerings. I wasn't sure what all the keys were supposed to do and it was too hard on the ears to find out by trial and error. This has spared me the trouble with the neighbors, given me a peace of mind and new and convenient options for playing. Thank you once more. I've liked and subscribed. :-)

I enjoy your methodical videos. You explain things very well. The charts you put up are crucial. My concern: fingering alterations between the B-flat clarinet and the alto sax gets confusing. Any words of wisdom to go from one to the other, outside of lots of practice? Dr. Bill
