Hey Peter, great lesson!! You really teach the song which is amazing. I never realized how much chord work went into a song like this. Billy Gibbons makes it sound so easy and you teach it very well. I 've always admired good guitarists. Jimmy Page and Eddie Van Halen come to mind as well. Great job....
Very cool. Great job friend. You're the first and only guy I've found playing this right. There's a bunch of knuckleheads on here teaching it incorrectly. Thanks
I was impressed with the way you taught the song. I had looked at two or three others and was a little unsure until I saw how you made it so clear. I need to work on it a little but am obsessed with the song and will get it. Thanks, Chris
ushachris10 Thank you Chris! I tried to explain as best I could and glad you liked my take on it. All the best to you! Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already :-)
@@PeterDunbar the bass in that song. I can't figure out how it's so big in the song. You only hear those low bass frequencies in 90s hip hop. Guess zz was ahead of their time. Never heard anyone cover it live get that sound. This is a great video for guitar and the tone sounds exact. Thanks for uploading this.
When scrolling through my search for a good lesson on this I recognized you from another song I learned from you. I immediately clicked you, and again you didn't disappoint. Txs.
Grab a second hand Dimension C pedal, hit button 4 and the sound is right there. I was playing along using mine and it's Billy in a box. :) Good instructional vid fig bella!
Thank you for sharing your great ears for the nuances of the tune(s). Very generous of you. Hope to support your lessons and talent as much as possible. Subscribing doesn't feel like enough in return for the knowledge. If I catch onto any new and snappy changes, I will definitely share. Like digging doobiz's cool walking up by octaves revelation. Great job, thanks again.
Dude I loved your lesson! Was a little bummed to see there were only two but they are both songs I love. I subscribed anyway You obviously have great talent and great ears, lol. Thank you so much. If I could ask anything PLEASE do more lessons, especially Rev. Billy!
Nice, one thought, I’ve always played that chromatic walk up at the start from F, not E as you have it, I’ll have to have another listen to the record.
Hey Peter, nice instruction on oneof my fave ZZ Top songs. Howabout doing one on another underappreciated classic from the El Loco album: "Don't Tease Me".
It must be difficult to pull off and hammer on after the double stop in the solo. I've never heard anyone play it exactly the same as it sounds on the album. Love that solo
That one part is actually alternate picking octaves,skipping the 5th string,not power chords. E 6th string open ,then it's F 6th string 1st fret, F 4th string 3rd fret,F# 6th string 2nd fret, F# 4th string 4th fret ,G 6th string 3rd fret G 4th string 5th fret.
actually give a shout out to the colonel Steve cropper duck Dunn Booker T & the late Al.. especially Steve cropper because Sam & Dave of course recorded but they were the ones powering the sound.. this whole guitar creation is the brainchild Steve cropper back in the day
Love the way you teach this, nice relaxed style. One thing though, at the end of the intro you have the run up from E to A as barre chords, I guess as power chords, I think the way Billy Gibbons plays it is actually as octaves from F up to A, if that makes sense. Check out the video of him playing it at Daryl's House and I think you can see what I mean. Keep up the good work!
Peter Dunbar I thought locking tuners were for the back of the headstock, where the, erm, tuners are located. I was wondering about the strap lock..for the strap.
Nice lesson, but not entirely accurate. In the intro the shapes are major triads barred across the D, G, and B strings ((C major - 5th fret, D major - 7th fret, G major - open, A major - 2nd fret), not double stops. Also, instead of E7 play Em7 (low E sting open with a D shape triad at the 7th fret, gives you E, D, G, and B, or just play the whole Em7 barre chord at the 7th fret with the low E string). Cheers!
