I was in a Arena and there was this Young Link kicking everyone's ass including mines so I decided to pick a random character for fun so I went with Inkling. I almost 3-0'd him. And I never played inkling before. So now I'm here lol
Inkling was planned to be a pocket character of mine. But I never really got into that character. But thanks for this video and the guide - now I'm thinking about trying him/her out again. Great work, Dan - as always 👍
A good one i tend to find is after a full jab, if your opponent has a tendency to roll in right away if they dont tech, a fully charged splat bomb catches them right away. Which can then lead a tech chase roller, followed by a smash. I've had multiple, down throw -> jab -> unteched roll in -> splat bomb -> roller -> forward/upsmash for a good 80-90% in all of 15 seconds.
A cool thing I do is that if the bomb explodes I will dash into the center of it mid explosion and hit them with any attack mainly dash this is awesome when u get the chance to do it coz the ink covers the screen a bit covering Ur character so yeh If u get what I mean
lilDan596 i would but now after 2 months i’ve got used to it so i’m gonna keep the controls how they are. in fact, sometimes when i play splatoon i press a by accident haha
A good way to land a roller is when you hit someone who ends up lying on the ground, Immediately follow up with a roll. 5 times out of 10, they’ll end up rolling backwards and the second they stand their in the ground.
Nice video, as an inkling main I'm always looking for more insight and as you say, most videos are over a year old and don't account for all the nerfs the character has had. Here's a quick combo I came up with (not true and only works against taller characters, but a good mixup anyway): Dash -> nair -> cross-up -> nair -> back tilt (should lead to a tech chase if landed) -> dash -> down tilt/dash attack -> fair / uair. After the second dash you can mix it up with a quick back dash to bait their recovery / roll and punish with roller, or you can read and punish with a grab that leads to booyah.
There are a not a lot of good inkling guide on you tube, thank you a lot for this video there's almost zero good video of combos and tech chases and on how to get opponent with roller just thank you for a amazing video :)
Inkling needs to run some extra ink saver main, stacking 69 pures of sub saver wasn't the best use of gear because of diminishing returns on all gear abilities
I really wish I could main Isabelle but I played inkling and something just clicked for me. Thanks for making this to improve my skill even more with this character
I started getting into diddy Kong but then I heard that inkling is basically smash 4 diddy so I tried him and am rlly surprised on how much I like him. I like learning combos myself but I rlly needed those tips on how to cancel roller and stuff like that lol, ty
I'm not super good at inkling, but down throw into back air is also true at about 15% percent and can lead to a kill off stage if you back air again, catching opponent's jump. I use this a lot
I was just playing around in adventure mode trying new characters and I kinda groaned when I got to inkling because I thought she sucked. Turns out, she's a ton of fun
Here is a good method, (Note: Don't abuse the roller lol) Try to roller somone around 50%, jump cancel out of side b, then do quick bair, covert on your opponent and use rapid jab. Try to dash dance and sneak a grab when shield, up throw, jump on a plaform and use up air to finish him/her off. Method simplified: Side B (Roller around 50%) ---> Jump Cancel then Bair ---> Rapid Jab ---> Sneak a Grab (Hit 3 times) ---> Up-Throw ---> (Using a platform extension) Uair ---> Success!
you can drop jump splattershot from the ledge and drift in. let go and get either u-smash or jab (they can air dodge bur jab will cover it unless the air dodge away
Hey quick question because I don't seem to get it right: at 12:53 you explain some crazy air moves to move underneath the stage, what exactly are you doing there? you say "roller" do you mean side+b in mid air -> double jump -> up+b?
The roller is one of the main reasons I use the inklings it is decently overpowered and it triggers a pitfall if you Hit someone leaving them vulnerable
Wait can you gather ink without a full tank like pretend I kill somebody and my ink tank is at 50 percent can I refill it without wasting my ink if so how?
I’m having a lot of trouble with that combo at 5:18 every time I press the right stick down after doing the two jabs, it just does the splattershot third jab, is a GameCube controller needed to pull off this combo, or will joycons or a pro controller work?
