There are a lot of great guitar players on utube and some pretty good teachers as well and I've learned from all of them but Shane I gotta tell ya that all of those little tips and insights you give and the encouraging words about making mistakes being o.k. and best of all the real time play along sections that put together all the pieces put you at the top of the list. Always a great place to learn a new song. Thank you for what you do here!
A big thank you Kirk - I really appreciate your kind words. Great to have you with us on Patreon too - let me know if you have any questions. All the best to you! Shane
Hi Shane. Firstly, welcome back ‘Master’, you have been sorely missed my Friend. Pleased to hear/see that you have recovered from your surgical procedure. Secondly, this is unbelievable, ‘In to the Great Wide Open’ is my favourite TP track ( closely followed by ‘You and I will meet again”) was a request that I made some time ago. Yesterday, I sent you an email hoping to find you well and because I ,like many, many others have missed not having you with us! Then,Hey Presto, as they say the rest is History. Your tutorials are second to none Shane please keep them coming! Stay safe. Kind regards. Alan.
A big thank you Alan - always great to hear from you and I really appreciate all of your encouragement. I always have fun doing these videos and hearing from people who enjoy them. My best to you and hope you are kicking guitar butt. Cheers! Shane
Really love the way you play the song in its entirety.. Not leaving us hanging on how to put it together.. Great technique.. Thank you so much for the lesson...
So glad to hear that Mike - big thank you for that. Always super to get that kind of feedback - hope all is well as can be and that you tear right through this one. Cheers! Shane
Teaching is such a skill, these lessons totally draw you in and engage you. This lesson gave me distraction and focus after losing a dear friend to Corona virus last week. Thanks Shane buddy.
A big thank you Arielle - Greatly appreciated. I had eye surgery not too long ago and have been a bit wobbly ever since. Good to go now and looking forward to making more videos. Best to you and stay safe and well. Shane
Guitar At Work Glad you’re alright now. Anytime you get wobbly, shout out...your army of fans are here for you. We’d come running! We love you! Thanks again!

Once again, you bring a great lesson! GROWL!!! Just a great way of demonstrating how to make this song even better for players. THanks for the great lesson!
Thanks for that K - really appreciate the encouragement. Always fun to make these videos and to hear from people who are enjoying them. Best to you! Shane
Hi Shane glad to see your back this one is pretty easy so far got a bit off track timing the punches, I was comparing your chords to a website as you know everyone has there own ways of doing songs but I find that like this song in particular, the site I am looking at had some added chords that were not necessary, this is why I like coming to your channel simple and direct no added BS. Thanks again love your videos
Great to see you back on here Shane, good to know that the eye surgery has gone well. Love this song, the punches remind me of something similar in Willin’ - another great video of yours. Thanks for posting man! Also, a big shout out from the UK to all your followers - stay safe folks!
Thanks Nick! Always fun to hear from you and to jam with you over Skype. You're doing great - and always so enthusiastic - hope all is well as can be and see you soon! Shane
Thanks Bob - fabulous to get such a great comment - really appreciate it. Hope you have a ton of fun with it and that you are enjoying your guitar. Cheers! Shane
For that F chord, if you listen closely to the recording, they actually play an F (add9) chord, adding the ‘G’ note on the third fret of the high ‘E’ string. It’s easy to play, just play a regular F chord and put your pinky on that third fret of the E string. Your pinky’s already there if you play the ‘G’ chord like he tells you to.
Also, for the ‘G’ to ‘C’ part, when you play the ‘C’ chord, keep your pinky where it is. That makes it easier to quickly transition between the two chords. It also just sounds nice!
Hey Shane! Love the videos! You’re helping me so much. Any chance you can do a how to of Have you ever seen the rain by Creedence? Again thank you so much for all your help!
When you play that F-chord you need to leave your pinky on the 3rd fret of the 1st string. Slow down the recording and listen... you can clearly hear the G note ringing out. Other than that, pretty good lesson
Thanks Dirk - a couple of guitars in there for sure and one is keeping pinky on and the other isn't. You can freely go from one to the other for sure. Hope you're having fun. Cheers, Shane
