2:36 I have never had a teacher tell me how to get a better positioning like this. No doubt he has more tricks to learn, where has he been all my life?
This is the best video that I've found so far, big thumbs up :D I've never been able to play this song, I always get stuck doing the B flat, but this was really encouraging I might revisit this song once again
Rob! A big thank you for that and hope you're doing well. I miss our group classes - Argh! Someday all will be well again. My best to you this New Year! Shane
Hello Shane, just subscribed to your website and enjoying learning to play Layla, great tune, really like your teaching style, fast, informative,no nonsense.Best regards,Frank 'G' Manchester England U .K
I really enjoy your videos! They are easy to follow and you have a calm, reassuring manner! Thanks!! I would love to learn Poor Pitiful Me by Linda Ronstadt if you have time to fit it in. 👍😎
About that change to the B flat: Instead of holding the Dm form and using the middle finger for C on the 5th string, try jumping to the B flat and use the ring finger for C on the 5th string. Then drop the ring finger to bar the 4th, 3rd and 2nd strings. A little less hectic.
Sorry for a slow reply Jennie - Sept is crazy here. If you email me directly from my website we can talk further about it - shanesimpson.com Cheers! Shane
nice one Shane I enjoyed this one nice take on it..although I'm still much more partial to the Derek version every now and then I do like the laid-back version although radio did kill it for me I'm afraid Bud.. and I love Slowhand..been playing a lot of tunes from the money and cigarettes album I got back into that 1981 classic and I'm really digging the tunage on that one.. and I'm hoping to score some tickets this year to his new crossroads concert that he is bringing out again which is all star awesome. just like the original one in Dallas the one in Chicago I'm proud to own my both DVDs are those. have a good weekend hope you're getting some warmer weather up there in Canada.
I’ve been a slow learner all my life . Thank You Greatly for teaching this song slowly and easy to see and understand. I would like to buy a Taylor some day . Could You Do a Robin Trower Song , live version of Fine Day . Winterland Concert 1975 ? Great 👍 Lessons. Take Care
Great breakdown. Have to work at it a little with my short fingers but you've explained it so neatly it's already becoming fun and when that happens I know I'll get it at some point. Many thanks for sharing and helping.
Could you make a video of how you EQ and set up your acoustic guitar line in Logic for your videos! As it sounds amazing and I can never get my acoustic guitar sounding any good when plugged in.
Hi Ronnie - yes, the BeatBuddy connects to an amp or a mixer. The 1/4’’ cable is not provided (standard guitar cable…). It does not have a looper onboard - it connects to a looper that has a midi connection (like the Aeros looper).
I always found it easier to play the entire chorus/riff around the 5th fret using all barre chords. Personal preference is good - and I’ve usually found people cheering by the time Ikve hit the 2nd beat of the Dm…. Shame it took me almost 5 decades to learn how to play it!
Shane ... Nicely done! You're one of the best on the tube! Trying to sign up to your patreon site .. Finding it awkward to do? Anybody have suggestions ? Thx
Thank you Gord - very glad to have you with us - what sort of trouble are you having on Patreon - I am pretty sure you just go to the guitaratwork page and 'Become A Patron' - If that's not the case I'd be super grateful to know what troubles are out there as I am new at this. Big thank you! Shane
Thank you Michael - hope you have fun with it. Glad to have you with us. It's a Taylor 814CE. You are hearing it plugged straight into the mixer with a bit of reverb and compression mixed in. Cheers! Shane
Hi Dave - a lot of people ask for sure....it depends on what I have going on. If I need them to sound fresh. But just day to day playing/teaching etc I change them every couple of weeks. But realize I am on a guitar 8 hours a day 6 days a week! Shane
Guitar At Work , yeah you’re playing a lot more then myself, an acoustic guitar is the only thing I know that sounds brand new when you put new strings on it...magic
Lol ,😂, we MUST be brothers from a different mother 😅, cause I love all the songs you choose for your tutorials 🤗🤗✅ and you communicate them so well ! thanks so much 🥰 !
I wish you and your families a very different year ahead ,thanks for sharing your work .I play a larrivee DR3 dreadnought, I was interested in a Taylor cutway in future.can I ask your advice on an acoustic amp (AER?) or a good microphone? Thanks you so much
Hi Dan - sure thing. It's tricky but it can be done. You'll have to invert your knuckle on the ring finger in order to pick up the high E string. It means you'll also need to barre with your first finger. Cheers! Shane
Great work, Shane! I love the songs you've selected, so I decided to subscribe. I think you'd be the right person to show me how to play "Blackbird"... What do you think? Thanks so much!
Unfortunately my digits are the opposite ' short / stubby , if they weren’t might have been a geeetar player instead of jobbing MD as you guys in the USA call us
