I watched this guy when I started playing guitar 10 years ago. Now I'm a teacher. A student asked me for lonely day and now I'm here re-learning. I'm glad the page is still up.
1. In my early videos, I had the string order backwards, but I fixed that a while ago. 2. Drop Db is exactly the same and "C#" 3.You are just repeating what I already said. I'm just saying what the chord shapes are. It would only confuse people if I said "play a G#", then proceed to play an Am shape 4. See #1
He only played an SG for Mezmerize/Hypnotize and some live shows for about a year and a half. Then he switched back to Ibanez and got a custom shop Iceman that he plays now
I've noticed a lot of hate in the comments about this guys playing and teaching and shit. Honestly who gives a fuck? When I first started playing guitar over 2 years ago now this guys videos taught me how to play my guitar and how to play the songs I loved. If not for this guy I might not have been as dedicated towards learning as I was. And it sucks cause I've been subbed to him since then and noticed he doesn't make shit for videos anymore probably cause you all comment some demeaning ass shit. Fuck man music is supposed go be fun
Here's an easy way to fix that. Turn on the amp on a clean setting. Turn off the chorus and delay. Now hold down the button for the clean channel until it flashes. Now the next time you turn on the amp, your settings will be saved and the chorus/delay will be off
Double check the effects are turned off on the amp. Sometimes on that amp they get stuck, so you have to turn the effects knobs all the way on and then off again
@Aturn3d thank you for uploading these tutorials, it's hard to find tutorials with people that actually explain clearly how to play a song like you did. thank you
Ok lets get this straight: 1. You have got the String wrong, the 1st string is the thinnest, and the 6th string is the thickest. 2. Tuning is Drop C#, from 1st to 6th: D#, A#, F#, C#, G#, C# (6th string is C#, thats why its called drop, because you can do 1 finger powerchords ) 3. Chords are: G# (Am shaped in Standard Tune), E (you can just play the root note and keep the shape), A# (C shaped) and D# EXCEPT for the second chorus where it goes E, D#, F# and G# 4. Stop mixing frets and strings.
It might help to play a C chord with the standard fingering (the 3rd chord in the intro) rather than the more complex one he taught. Just a little help for the beginners!
Ok, so the tabs say to let go of the third string at one point during the beginning but he does not do so. Should I keep it pressed or follow the tabs? Sorry, I'm a noob. Really trying to learn how to play guitar.
I don't like this method. What I do is strum the strings in the same pattern that you did of the "Am", "Fmaj7", "C", and "E" chords (in that order). Way easier for transitions and sounds the same.
@Aturn3d Deftones has a drop b flat tuning in their earlier albums, as well. Speaking of Deftones, you should do a tutorial of "My Own Summer" by Deftones.
I'm playing with a Line 6 Spider 3 amp. It's pretty new but I still can't figure out why it always sounds like the phaser setting is on when I put it on clean. Anybody know how to fix this?
dickish comments....... I say good job man i go to you every time i need to figure out a song i want to play......can you play Chic N Stu by System of a Down? i want to learn that for my guitar class to impress my teacher and the girls ;D haha
the only thing that annoys me is how he names the string, it's supposed to bet from bottom to top not top to bottom. 1st string is called the High e or top e string, the thinnest string closest to the ground, 6th string is called the bottom E or Low E, the fattest string closest to you.
Raging Gamer go watch his chop suey tutorial lol. if you already know how to play chop suey, youd cringe at his tutorial. I mean that in the most respectful way possible
Drop D flat, like he say in the video, also know as Drop C sharp. You should be able to tune your guitar with the online version of Pro Guitar Tuner, or use the premium trial on phone. Or you can just find another online tuner of your choice. Hope I helped!
