Since the sgs3 and nexus 7 seem to have sub audio out and have already been shown on RU-vid to work with usb audio devices, you could use the device you showed in the video and use the usb port on that to connect devices like the sgs3 and nexus 7 for gettin lossless output to car stereo if your present car does not have usb input. Great way to make the nexus 7 into a car infotainment device plus you could use the torque app to get car management info on the nexus 7 when paired with other device

Nice & quick change between folders too, a shame Xlink dont do an adaptor for my Jag! Slightly surprising seeing as its an Alpine based setup (with a standard BMW/Merc type 6 disc changer in the boot), with Ford type connections. Nice video though mate, well presented & explained.

The current price of this gadget is US$35 (with a port for Blue Tooth option) directly with XCar Link. I just got one. It is good solution for those intending to keep the old original head unit but getting rid of CDs.

I'd like one of these in my Renault Espace mk4. As it has a hidden amp/radio and separate 6-disc cd changer, the head unit cant be changed. If I could swap the changer for this gizmo, I could quadruple the amount of tracks I can play in my car and still use the car's stereo controls. Perfect.

£85 for that or about the same for a nice new head unit with better looks, internals and features, i could understand if it was something you could fit without having to rip the head unit out because a lot of people can't do things like that or if you had a car that has a non std bezel like a ford focus (only one i can think of ) but this makes no sence

To people saying " buy a new head unit " , for instance in my Citroen, my original head unit , a blaupunkt rd4 , is linked to the board computer and to the volume buttons located on my steering wheel. So changing the head unit would've meant being deprived of wheel controls, and fucking up the date and time, and the whole board computer. So this x car link was my only solution and its awesome. In this video however, well yes a new head unit, maybe more expensive would've been ok I guess but everyone makes their own choice !

for $85 you can get one with a 10 inch touchscreen Blu ray. but I didn't even spend nearly as much for my deck mind plays only one type of USB and its a Sony marine deck I got it on Craigslist for $60.

Really excited about this solution! Will it work for my RCD 300 (volkswagen golf 5)? I have the ipod docking station in the armrest, but have no ipod, and heard a lot of problems with this system. So What are my possibilities if I install the XcarLink USB SD?

they even sell bluetooth ones that plugin for RCA jacks the back of your head unit for less than $20.

Hey. I have Audi gamma radio. But it doesn't have CD changer slot. Well it does have it, but there is no pins in there. So I don't think it will work. Any ideas how I could connect AUX cable, or adapter like yours? Thanks in advance.

Hi, so I installed the same Xcar on the same radio Beta. But it seems as if it doesn't even try to read from the USB (no blinking on the drive itself). The flash drive is a 4GB formatted to FAT32. The folders are named CD01 to 06 and each has less than a 100 songs in it. I haven't tried SD or AUX inputs. Do you know what could be the problem

I got this option. But sometimes when I play music, it shows error on radio "no cd changer " and then I need to stop and turn off car and turn on again and it works again. Do you know what's the problem?

I have this same gadget and it goes up to CD10 folder maximum with 99 songs in each one. My head unit only supports 6 CD's but i think near enough 600 tracks is enough for me. If i want more than that then i just pull out my USB stick and put another one in - simples Peace

It is meant to replace a CD changer unit that is normally kept in the boot of the car. If yours doesn't support a CD changer then it won't have the socket on the back of your unit to plug this in. Peace

so this will only work if my stereo is capable to change multiple cd's so in this case be a cd changer? as i have bought a Astra the stereo is 'cd30' which has no aux port and not able to connect one and dont want to change the stock unit. could i still install the XCar Link?

creating folders CD 01 CD 02 that's ridiculous dude. that's why I went out and bought a deck that when you plug the USB in you don't have to label in folders. and it also will display what you're listening to.

I think its limited to 6 folders and 199 tracks on each folder

you said to keep the cost minimum and the device you istall is 80GBP... you can buy a better car stereo with USB and SDcard reader for that money!!

Do people still use CDs in cars? I see you're using a cassette so you have nothing to talk about. Besides, 85$?? You can get a great head unit for that money and it will be way better in every way possible. This is hardly "keeping your cost down". More like "let's waste our money". What you did there makes no sense what so ever. You can also take that head unit out and put it in any car you want. Not to mention that you have another thing rattling around your car and taking space. Rather pointless and wasteful as far as money and space goes. Which in turn defeats the entire purpose of this video.
