Thanks MrMario, great tutorial as always. I just wanted to note something that occurred with me, to help anyone else that also has this issue. I did the HDDX partition and copied the compatibility folder there, but once I started an OG Xbox game via Aurora, it showed the Xbox logo, signed me out, and then just started Aurora back. The issue is that I had another launch.ini on my external HDD. Once I set the launch.ini file to be at HDD1, and deleted the one on the external HDD, it all worked fine. Just letting you guys know in case someone comes accross this :p

Ok so I'm seeing some people here are having problems with their console rebooting once they launch a game. The solution I found was that I needed to go into DashLaunch and disable all of the plugins I had running. This would work in the case that you have a trinity or corona model console. But if you're on a phat 360 like I am, you actually don't have to do this at all. In the situation that you have a wifi adapter or ethernet connected, all you have to do is disconnect that cable and your games should load. Hope this helps! :)

Huge thanks to your guides. I just got a Kronos RGH3'd a few days back (sent in for modding on Friday, picked it up on Monday this week) and it's absolutely bliss. I do have to get some time to slap a TB drive in that HDD adapter heh, the 500GB I used doesn't sound much too healthy. Also did a few "mods" (if you can name 'em that) like using a Elite case (as the white one was beaten beyond salvation, thankfully the HW was still intact), adding a 500GB WD Blue for now (until I can get a 1TB drive) and replacing the Xenon-styled GPU heatsink with a Falcon one - the last one shaved me about 10*C off the GPU after a solid NFS Hot Pursuit session (which would be like around a quarter of the game). I'll be keeping an eye on what else can be done, now that I have a nice Kronos RGH'd system. BTW, it rarely ever seems to take longer to glitch (about once in a while it'll keep cycling for a very little bit).
Have fun with it! Although I remember you saying you were getting that sent off. Would definitely recommend RGH 1.2 over RGH 3.0 for Phat systems, at one point down the line it could just stop glitching.
@@MrMario2011 Unfortunately 1.2s seem to have gone extinct in my country - I've been looking for one myself as I have a Falcon I'd love to RGH as well, with no success in finding any 1.2. The only route was getting RGH3... The install does look good enough so I doubt it'll stop glitching - at best I only get a black screen once or twice, with fans constantly twitching, though most of the time it boots up successfully with no issues whatsoever. I will keep an eye on the glitching evolution, though, and maybe have it updated (either by me or the modder who did the install) once there's any update on RGH3 and phats.
@@MrMario2011 I can +1 to that. I've done a few RGH3's for PHAT consoles and they just aren't stable. RGH3 should be reserved specifically for slim consoles. I did RGH3 on my trinity and it instant boots, RGH3 for the PHAT's I've done either don't boot at all or they do very inconsistently.
I followed the steps to a T, but when I go to play the disc screen goes black and into a freeze. Any ideas on what went wrong or what I need to do? Any help would be great!
The main drawback of this all is that Xbox 360 backwards compatibility with OG games is so very messy, framerates regularly drop in many games, making them barely playable. PS3 hacked BC with PS2 titles is so much better because there're many custom config files for different games which makes them run better. I've always wondered why people never bothered with 360 OG emulator and didn't make some custom configs. Oh well
My PS3 BC experience was straight up worse than the 360 lol. I tried Silent Hill 2, all Tony Hawk releases and Shaolin Monks. Shaolin Monks was the ONLY playable game, WITH custom configs.
I love the original Project Gotham racing and want to be able to play it on a 360, but the inconsistent frame rate and the extra darkness make it basically unplayable.
Urgh. Nothing but problems for me. Games will freeze on boot, some don't get passed the original Xbox logo, and some crash my console and force it to reboot. None have worked so far.
That hacked compability seems interesting. I already have original xbox but getting change run blacklisted games on rgh 360 seems interesting to try even if it wont work on all
Disable plugins before running Xbox original games. Using AvaLaunch to launch the Xbox games seems to improve stuttering and frame rate. There is a workaround to run 720p games. I’m working on this to provide back to the community.
you seem to be the best current Xbox 360 RGH resource on the internet! I was wondering if you know if there were any developments in Retroarch, XBMC, Dreamcast emulation? I really want to expand and flesh out this 360.
Ive done everything imaginable, my RGH 360 REFUSES Xbox original games no matter what. Ive checked plugins, a fresh hard drive, there is sadly always the dreaded black screen issue, its mind numbing.
Hello! I followed every step that you explained, my XBOX recognises the original XBOX game BUT when I am want to boot it it just restarts my console. I mention that I have an XBOX 360 Slim, RGH modded with an internal HDD of 256 GBs. I have read befor the compatibility list and the game itself is from that list (Destroy all Humans, more precisely). Could you please help me? Thanks a lot!
super late but remove ur stealth plugins like tethered or nfinite or xbonline i just did that and my console doesnt restart anymore still having fatal errors though
If you have black screen change resolution in xbox settings. I change from 1360x768 to 1080p and now i dont have black screen in Forza Motorsport anymore.
I've got the Compatibility stuff running, no problem at all. But ALL of my OG Xbox games are running at PAL refresh rate 50Hz/FPS. Any fix or workaround for that? That introduces some other issues - I guess -, that is stuttering, slow playing cut scenes, slow, laggy (25 FPS instead of 30 FPS titles) gameplay and maybe more.
I have 2 question: Do I need an original xbox HDD? and, can I insert any OG Xbox game DVD after installing the emulator and expect them to play or do I need to rip them onto the HDD first?

Thank you for such detailed videos! Have you tried the 64/128 ram enabled experimental version that allows aurora plugins such as using xlink from the guide? I can't seem to get either to work with the Nova plugin enabled in Aurora.

Anyone know where to buy a RGH? Because where I was going to buy mine (console warehouse) it won’t let me buy it keeps telling ‘Invalid payment method.’
Anyone who still can’t play them after doing everything. The only option left is to open the disc drive before selecting the game. If the problem was it freezing on the Lego or black scream that’s what did it for me.
@MrMario2011 Hello if you have a black screen and the games are not running. Check your display settings. There must be 1080p and not 1680x1050 etc. Otherwise it won't work.

This warning in the black screen that says deletes yhr compatibility... I dont understand what EXACTLY is in Danger here? Does it mean it could format my Xbox 360 ability to run pirate JTAG Rgh games with GOD and XEX Format? Am i putting my consoles primary system in jeopardy? I'm only using Freestyle Dash 3 and unfortunately don't know much about aurora or other managers. I really want to play old games. So could u please. when i press and hold x to play, it takes me to a screen that says "this is an original xbox game, to play this, insert this into your xbox console", did i do something wrong??
Games will black screen if you have a server loaded. I prefer to run no plugins at all preferably. I'm assuming because the files are xbe instead of the usual xex. So that screws it up if it's loaded while launching the default xbe.

It doesn't work for me. After the Classic Xbox logo it takes me back to the nxe. I have tried other Compatibility patches, multiple games and none worked. Im on the latest dash btw.
there's a problem with the disc you're using. it may be dirty or damaged xbox . . This message just appears when I launch the Xbox original games only and the console being freezing how I can fix it? 😭💔 The games has putting in the internal hdd.. And thanks for all your amazing helpfully videos ❤❤
hi mr mario, i able to run the OG xbox games, but each time i press the home button to get the 360 menu, the console is going shuts down by it self. do you know how to fix that ? my dashboard is fsd v.3
I just wanted to say thank you....your tutorial worked perfectly for me. Two questions if I may? I loaded that data onto the main HDD of my 360 and loaded the rom to the HDD...the game plays well. I can only access that game via going into file manager and then clicking it to load from there. How can I give it an icon so I can see it in "my games". Lastly, I also have a portable HDD plugged in via the front usb port, which appears in the menu's as USB0,and I have most of my games stored there, rather than the original HDD. Will compatability games only be able to be loaded in via the HDD or can they be put on the portable USB0 drive and still play, without also putting the compatability data onto the USB0 drive as well? I want to download the Xbox original games but the ones that are actually on the 360 store, I bought a few back in the day but I don’t want to install a separate emulator of the og Xbox but only the games that already are prepared to run of the 360

hi Mr Mario, i have an issue, i did everything you said and i have a copy of midtown madness 3 copied onto my HDD1, the game appears on my aurora dash complete with the cover, but when i run the game it freezes at the OG xbox logo intro. i cannot quit or do anything all i can do is hard shut down the 360. do you know how to solve this?
