DangerMan's 5 Forms of Field Awareness laid out in simple to understand language. It's an advanced paintball tip for beginner paintballers too. It's a woodsball video everyone should share.
My son turns 12 next month and has decided that he wants to get into paintball. Seeing how I have been playing for 10 years and said ok. Since he decided to play we have been watching your videos and I have to say "Thank you." Your videos are great and very easy for beginners to understand. I tried explaining some of the things you talk about to him but he couldn't really follow. He would then watch your video and he quickly could understand what I was saying. Once again, thank you.
I played at 29 years old for the first time last month. Shot a kid in the face through a tiny crack at 50 metres. It was exhilarating. Not sure if you've done a video on it yet but you could elaborate on playing styles as they suit your level of fitness? Some older guys might have bad joints, etc.
Get a really good pair of knee pads and try to use bunkers that will allow you to stand up or at least squat. I'm also 29 and have been playing every weekend for about 6 months now, knee pads made a world of difference. Also, your joints will toughen up after a few weeks of acclimation
In order of importance. Knee pads, Mask, Paintball pants, Elbow pads, Jersey, Marker/Air. Play pump, helps keep costs in line and develops marksmanship and movement. Pump markers also have a stronger resale market.
As others have mentioned... the obvious - knee pads. But for me they are important because I slide a lot in the woods.Having said that, I've seen all sizes and shapes in the game. I think the most genuine answer I can give is play to your strengths. If you no longer have speed, you can't be an upman off the break. Play a supporting role as a midman. Be a reliable midman that communicates to upmen helping them by being both a shooter that clears and feeds them info so they can move. Perhaps concentrate on a long-ball game. Or even a pounder when (rope of paint on a bunker) so that an upman can make their next move. In either case you still have plenty opportunity to take players out. It's not as if you are minimized. It's a matter of playing to the strengths you have. And you can still be an upman, just not immediately or off the break. I may also be more of an edge player. That will allow me to punch up the lines and still be a line breaker that plays on point. In theory, staying on your feet is best if you have any mobility issues. But that seems more common sense than tactical. Knee pads without a doubt though. I've used them all my life for many sports and watched others tear their knees up for decades. Knee pads with a hard outer shell and deep padding if you can get it. I've been using airsoft pants recently but you have to buy them large as I blow out the seats when I goto my knees. They are built very shapely and while they look good, can be impractical in harsh combat situations. As I've mentioned in vids. Please share! Likes and comments. Don't assume someone else will. Visit my sponsors too. This is how you can support me, if you support me. Peace!
Your tips here are all spot on, I use most of them already, but now I can fine tune the rest of it lol. I also played at Northeast adventure the other day, pretty solid field and setup. Much smaller than skirmish but still fun. Did some small 3v4 private matches, first time with my X7 and TipX. I used taking the 50 quick and shadow walking, dominated most matches. They asked me to turn my full auto off after the second match. Thanks dangerman, your tips have really helped 👍🏻
Just played today for the first time, for my brothers bachelor party. Most fun I’ve had in YEARS. Seriously considering getting into the sport. Wish I watched this video before I played, lol.
Summer time is great for paintball anytime (unless it is 120°F down the southern coast of California!!!). These tips will help friends incoming to the sport in order to sharpen the experience. Thank you!
great tips indeed.. feild foresite too is key. walking the feild before game play is paramount, I've played for many years and like any good player a walk through helps in the end seeing potential problem spots and safe havens pays off in game play. for example a certian bunker would be good for defending and attacking while a tower will be a blood bath. Just the same in speedball
Great points! I instinctually knew to do these things when starting out in paintball Maybe its all the action movies? lol Challenge is using these techniques better than the opponent lol Team work is truly probably the hardest part - getting a team to use these techniques in coordination with eachother
Im turning 13 this week and i decided to play paintball at my birthday. You really helped me to understand what is important and what i should be aware of when i play. thanks a lot
Hey cool vid just wanted to say when you play a bunker you that's stright you shouldn't be holding your marker on an angle because now your protecting your hopper but the whole bottom side is sticking out(tank maybe even grip frame) I understand if your playing a bag/bunker like a Dorito your going to need to hold it on the angle the bunker is at
With tip number 5 support, when you said you probably won't fall back with your team you would rather wait for them to push up to you, if they are not team player they might not no about support or they might not no how to give support and they might tell you that they know how to give support but when you need it they most likely aren't going to be there I play airsoft Alot I found out that when you need support most player aren't going to be there like I run with a good team and a good team knows how to give support for example when I am moving my team is covering me and when a member of my team is moving I am covering and that's how it's supposed to be. But when you have player not from your team they are most likely are not going to know what to do in that situation. I see this going on all the time in airsoft, let's say if you are pinned down and you have player not from your team they most likely aren't going to run up and try to help you they are either going to run away from the fire that you are under going or they are going to stay and die and nobody wants that and there is a small percentage of players that will run up and help and that awesome but most of the time they are going to ditch because they want to live and they know if projectiles are involved there is a chance of dieing and most will just avoid it because they want to live a little longer because nobody wants to die which means most player aren't going to have your back so sometimes tactical retreats aren't bad so that way you don't need to rely on others.
Rec ball and scenario. Rarely tournament ball. Tournament ball is a distant thing to me. Always diminished the fun over time. The intensity would consistently increase leading to burnout. Last tournament I played in was to just shut up some trolls. It was 2014. A Woodsbowl Worldcup in New York State. We won the 5 man and I was MVP. Now, it's primarily weekend games in rec ball games and monthly scenarios which I am compensated by attendance for promotion. Having said that I enjoy scenario as it allows me to get plenty of game footage while getting in some play time. Helps everyone even those that can't make it. Then they come the following year. :-) Long answer, but I figured why not. LOL
DangerMan. I dig it brother. I wish I could get compensated for attending games. The sponsorship thing I tried pushing for but it never went anywhere. So I just make videos for all to see. I'd love to pick your brain about it sometime. Do you have a Facebook page or would you be willing to shoot me a message on my Facebook page? Mine is TIGER PB.
im somewhat of a noob with paintball, but honestly all my time playing mil sim games on the pc actually pays off when playing paintball, i basically just move like i would in the video game lol. not saying im as good as a pro paintballer but im better off than most noobs
Biggest one you missed is "pre-game planning". So many recreational games I've played have literally no one discussing a game plan of any kind before the match starts and running in every direction like a chicken without its head. Simply explaining what everyone should do, what the objective is, and who's doing what makes or breaks the round. Even a team composed of mostly amateur players, if coached correctly, can form a firing unit that's halfway passable and a quarter of the way lethal.
I think there is a misunderstanding here. This subject focus is "on the field". Note, I'm not disagreeing with you. I've addressed that very point in a video specifically on that matter and in other videos as an aside. I've also written about it in my book, DangerMan's Paintball Bible. So again, we are not arguing anything other than this subject is about awareness in game. On-the-field. I'm all behind you that I speak to everyone breaking into three groups when the horn blows. Stand to the left if you want to be in the A group. Stand to the middle if you want to be in the B group, and stand to the right if you want to be in the C group. This immediately exposes to everyone if we have an unbalanced attack. The visual forces everyone to see what needs to be done in a proper break. Thanks for the response. I appreciate it!
Sorry about that let me rephrase the Q. lol. If you want to sell paintball guns yourself, how do you make it more attracting to the buyers who don't do paintballing? 🤔
I wouldn't do that. They wouldn't understand the value. I'd sell to those that do understand the value. Sure you can sell to an unsuspecting buyer at the price you want on Ebay perhaps, but they (Ebay) get a full 10 percent and that can be a crap shoot. Sell on a Facebook Buy Sell Trade group. There you have thousands of members who are there specifically to buy or find a good deal. Granted, these folks can really hold your feet to the fire, but if your gear is working proper and you can demonstrate it with photos etc... everything goes well for the most part. I'm an admin on one Paintball Buy / Sell / Trade group but our group does NOT allow paintball gun photos due to the Social Justice Warriors patrolling Facebook causing groups to fold because they assert a paintball marker is an actual gun. You can post photos of all gear but guns. NOW, you can post a description and prospective buyers then ask you through PM for photos. Easy enough. That is my manner buying and selling gear, you may not want to go that route, but it's my best answer at this time. As for those that don't understand paintballing... They either underspend at Wal-Mart for starters or they overspend because their parents will buy anything and have money to blow. Own a marker for a bit and you learn what you want. That's the best answer to knowing how to buy. Be an owner and learn what you need through gameplay. :-) Peace!
Be aware of the mid field ref's and their movements. Usually they will be around the fire line watching players on both sides. Sometimes they will give away positions, not on purpose, but because they naturally don't want to be caught in crossfire.
@@cowfishblobfish Who you are playing against matters. Some days you have little team support too. Many variables are in play. Are you going to play again? You can keep up with me on Facebook, DangerMan or DangerMan's Lair. My Instagram is the same name as RU-vid, DangerManXX. If you're an East Coast player, you can find me at events, and find out which team I'll be on to join up on the field if you like.
Very sorry you feel that way. However your response is typical of a small segment of players that pop up from time-to-time. You're view will change in 10 years. If you still play. By the way... it's a video on awareness, not technique. That's like saying the I left out how to walk properly when offering tips on shortcuts home from school.
