I play old school games on LCD TVs using A.V. cables and I actually like the way that they look on those screens because the widescreen resolution allows me to see things on the screen that cannot be seen with a standard CRT TV. Some of my Sega Genesis games will even show a colored picture frame along the outer edges of the screen at times. The ability to adjust the aspect ratio on an LCD TV will also allow you to view games in ways not possible on a CRT TV.

My issue is the lag due to refresh rates. I have an av to HDMI adapter, but it doesn't account for this lag just the resolution.

I hooked up the same HDMI converter you have and Sega Genesis cd to HDTV at 720p and it's ok .then I hooked up Nintendo GameCube and the resolution is better. I also changed the aspect ratio of the TV so the older the game system the lower the resolution. Please let me know if you have any better ideas

I have one of these but I rarely use it as it gets quite warm. I just deal with the blurriness.

I bought the same thing you have but I think I might be missing the other plug,it did come with the USB. No wonder it's no showing on the Samsung TV lol

Well, I discover your Channel recently and I just watch this video, I just want to advert than this type of AV to HDMI converter are not design to video game purpose, they're design for TV/VCR video, so with ton of Imput lag, wrong aspect ratio and 480i image for 240p content (most of the time). You talk at the end of the video about upscaler so I want to talk about the Retro Tink 2x Mini, it's a line doubler with Composite and S-Vidéo input who convert the analogue 240p/480i signal to a digital 480p signal with a full size HDMI output. It is design for retro gaming in mind and at 80$ is the best gaming upscaller for a beginner.

Would a retrotink be all I need? someone told me I would need some rgb mod for it to look better I'm trying to play my snes and n64 again on my 4k tv.

@@juniormorales559 Snes is RGB ready (except for the mini, who need a mod to restore RGB and S-Vidéo out) but yeah line you say N64 don't support RGB Stock, you need to mod it. But is depend of your budget and how many console you want to connect on your TV. If you just want a way to connect just the SNES and N64, the RT 2X mini is a good option, both support S-Vidéo so no mod need. Another option if your going to RGB mod your N64 is the RAD2X, a plug and Play HDMI out for 50£. It's basicaly a RetroTink2X but compatible with 1 type of plug. One is for Nintendo multiout and can accept Composite and RGB.

I see that they have different ones on their website. I still have my original Xbox, ps1 and PS2. So in your opinion which one should I get?

@@kiyanasmiley3219 Well it's complicated, both system don't use the same resolution. For simplicity, PS1 is 240p, PS2 is 480i and Xbox a 480p/720p. I think the Retro Tink 2X is overall the best solution, S-Video for PS1 and Components for PS2 and Xbox. But with the 2x, you're going to be limited for 480i with Xbox (it's not a issue with PS2 because it's a 480i system with few 480p games). Combine with a Chimeric Cable or a Xedusa HDMI/Components cable by Beharbros, that can be a great combo 👍.
