Ihave been playing since I was 3 yrs old, (since 1956) then in the early 80's after my mentor, my uncle died Ilost my passion for about 20 years, longe enough for joints and arthritus to set in, but I am getting it back again, thanks tons...

this has to be one of the most hauntingly romantic songs ever. love it. the first time i heard it i was about 14 or so... and from then i stayed glued to the radio just waiting for it to come on again so i could record it on my cheesy cassette recorder

Hello Eric, I just wanted to tell you that this is an awesome video! You have a really smooth style with the guitar! As I was watching your video and following along with you step by step on my guitar, I got to the part of the video where teaching Fm9 and Bb13, so I stopped the video to practice those two chords (because their new chords for me) and as I started playing those two chords faster, I began to hear a very cool song called "What you see is what you get" by the Dramatics as I was practicing Fm9 and Bb13. Now I could be wrong that they are the proper chords for "What you see is what you get" but they sure sound close to it. Well anyway, I just wanted to tell you that. Now I'm gonna get back to practicing Masquerade. Thanks for your Awesome teaching videos!

mmmm... great lesson - a great song - and Benson's playing is masterful on it. One question - I always saw the bridge as a II-V-I series... in other words, Ebm9 to Ab13 to Dbmaj9 - then it modulates down a half step for the second part of the bridge - Dm9-G13 to Cmaj7. I'd have to listen to what the bass is playing - Ab or the D (making the chord Ab13 vs. D7#9 - pretty much the same chord tones except Ab vs D)

Nice choice Eric. I remember when George played this song on the Johnny Carson show way back when. It was, as I recall, #1 on the R&B, Jazz and Pop charts. Of course Leon Russell wrote it and did a wonderful version of it but George took my breath away when I first listened to his album "Breezin".
