Nice one! This one is a little outdated and they changed the rules before I finished the series. It should still give you a good idea of the basics, though. 👊

Nice review Lee. This is the main game that I play now from GW. I have collected all the warbands and cards. My kids like this one, and is affordable. With the smaller bands, like Warcry you can get them painted faster and on the table. They also have on steam to practice. Keep up the great work you are almost at 3k. Congrats

Thanks for this video. I bought the starter set and was a bit daunted by the rulebook so i looked for a video. There are no “how to play” videos specifically for the starter set but i watched the GW one presented by the current painting guy (Duncan mk.3 “The Lesser”). That was just 30 minutes of being bombarded with the rules at high speed, with minimal explanation and no time for assimilation for us older folks who need a second to process between data-bullets. Your multi-part approach is much kinder to those without a positronic brain and they are clear and easy to understand (take ANOTHER note GW that you make great games but often you suck at making them easily accessible for those who are not already versed in the worlds of tabletop miniature wargaming or skirmish games). Anyway, thanks again.

Thanks so much, really pleased the videos are helpful. With the new Harrowdeep box set, there will be some updates to the rules but only minor changes. I've still got a few parts to complete for the series too. Thanks for watching and hope you have fun, its a great game! Also recommend giving Warcry a go. It's my favourite game and the rules series I made is complete for that.

re: the different seasons of Underworlds, how does the starter set fit in? And just to make sure, are warband expansions from any season playable in all other seasons?

I haven’t got the starter set but it has fewer cards (doesn’t include universal cards) and it leaves out some game mechanics. If you want to collect and add cards then Direchasm is the way to go. It has everything you need to play with some universal cards to add to your decks. You can use warbands from other seasons. There is a thing called ‘rotation’ where in competitive play championship format you can only use universal cards from the recent two seasons. I believe you can still use cards from any season that come with the faction/warband runemark though. Even with the old universal cards, some have been updated in the new seasons so you can still get the abilities they come with.

I just bought Direchasm and i saw couple interesting warbands from beastgrave, so it is worth to buy them anymore?

Beastgrave is my favourite box set because of the Warbands so if you like the look of them then it’s definitely good value and worth getting. Fun to have extra boards too.
