I'm glad you liked the video, but I think it's possible (and healthier) to just express enjoyment for something you like, without feeling the need to put down something else. Everyone has different talents and tastes, and what doesn't work for one person, might be just what someone else is looking for. Glad you liked the video though.

Yet again I am saved by a Rodney's video. I finally got my hands on this game (it never got released in my country), I was very lucky, the person who sold it to me had all the components still sealed and unpunched, but for some reason he painted the minis, and man...what an amazing job this dude has done. And although english is not a problem for me, it's always more tiresome to first decipher a rulebook in a language that is not your native one. Especially in games like this where the rules have so many little details about combat, movement, etc. Thanks, Rodney!

Great instructional video as always. At 5:35 I know you are explaining things, but would that be an illegal placement of the objective marker since it's considered an outside hex or am I looking at it wrong?
@WatchItPlayed

That is not an outside hex (you'll notice, there is another full hex above it, which is even closer to the outside edge than the one the marker was place in). Hope that helps!

Thanks for this great tutorial! At 16:53 I was very surprised. We did it wrong all the time. Is it mentioned anywhere in the rules that I can do multiple attacks with only one action? The German translation is pretty bad I assume.
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 5 лет назад
Hey Sandra, sorry to hear about the bad translation. You cannot normally attack multiple figures with a single action - but what I'm saying at that point in the video, is that some "effects" might let you attack multiple targets (ie. a special ability on a card). Hope that helps!

Thanks for this, real quality walkthrough. The game looks interesting. I just wish they would release cards and boards separate from the miniatures. Now in order to play a four player game you need to buy two core sets and then you pay for miniatures you cannot use :(
@margravetech1462
@margravetech1462 6 лет назад
You could always sell them off to Age of Sigmar players, since they will receive stats to be used in that game.
@UkkoKaarto
@UkkoKaarto 6 лет назад
margravetech true that, but here in Finland the Sigmar isn't very popular and there's the trouble finding the buyer. But I heard a rumour that there might be at least separate boards coming at later date.
@JenniferChurch

Fantastic tutorial. My bf is a long time Warhammer player and this board game version is a way for us to enjoy it together, and this tutorial made that possible. I am still confused on a couple of points. 1. Do you ALWAYS have to flip a glory token to upgrade or are there exceptions. Ex: during and activation, during a power step, at the end of a round. I know I need to flip one if I use it during an activation, but not sure about the rest. 2. If I play a Ploy card that says "in the next activation" does that card get discarded at the end of the next activation, even if the conditions aren't met. Or does it stay out until the conditions are met? I'm not referring to reaction cards. Thanks!
@JenniferChurch
@JenniferChurch 4 года назад
I think I found an answer to my question about upgrades already. From the rule book in an example of a power step... "...its severins turn again, and with no more ploys in their hand and no glory points to spend on upgrades, they declare that they pass as well."
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 4 года назад
Glad you liked the tutorial Jennifer! 1. Yes, you always must flip one to upgrade. 2. It must occur during the next activation, or it is discarded.

Can I, as the 2nd player to place my board, choose to place it 'behind' the 1st board so to speak? Or is it restricted as his "backline" or something along those lines? (Not sure how clear I was describing this thought) xD

Quick question, at the end of each activation phase, do you remove the "Move/Charge" tokens, so the fighters can move again in the next activation? - Or once you "Move/Charge" you can not move (but can attack/Guard) until the next turn? Thank you.
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 5 лет назад
The tokens are only removed at the very end of a round.
@michaelheppler991
@michaelheppler991 5 лет назад
Thank you on that Answer - Two more, sorry - If you move in your activation - are you done moving until next round - or can you move/charge again next activation? (Pending any card rules that move you.) If you Charge in any activation, for the rest of the round what are that fighters options? (only Guard or nothing?) For some reason I am not finding that data in the rule book. Thank you.

@Fearior
@Fearior 6 лет назад
18:00 i dont understand it, you go on guard as an activation, then discard this token cuz it is a end of this action phase... or i confused wording.
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 6 лет назад
When you gain the Guard token, you keep it until the end of the Action Phase (ie. it is removed during the End Phase). You also lose the Guard effect if you charge with that model. Does that answer your question?
@erictarver7325
@erictarver7325 5 лет назад
Im a bit confused on your charge example? You said that you must have line of sight also? But the red figure that you charged with didn't seem to have line of sight past the heavy white line to the blue figure. This was around 17:17.
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 5 лет назад
Sorry for the confusion. What I am trying to say, is that "after" the move portion of the charge (or "following it"), you must THEN be in range and line of sight to perform the attack. Hope that helps.

Hey guys I'm new to this game can you tell me how a push works? If the attack and blocked does that mean it pushes the target back? Please help
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 6 лет назад
Some attacks have knockback with will push a figure. You'll see an example of that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HBcTk4Azndo.htmlm2s Also, during an attack, if the attacker rolled at least 1 success, but the defender rolled as many successes the attack fails - however, in that case, although no damage is done, the attacker can choose to drive the defender back (which means they get pushed 1 space).

In the three and four player bit at the end I saw more than 2 boards. Does the game come with that amount of boards of do you need multiple cores?
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 6 лет назад
Good question! We show the components that come in the game, so for 3 or 4 players, you'd need a second set.
@Fearior
@Fearior 6 лет назад
The game come with components needed for a main game mode (match play)* - so the two player game (1v1). If you want to play extra game mode 1v1v1 or 2v2 or FFA (or KotH with more players) you need a second core set. A expansion dosent come with extra boards, a no extra dice. The expansions also come with different and unique ploys and upgrade cards. So - to be honest - if you (and your friend) want a true competitive experience each of you should get a core set (for deck building). *For a taste of it. Truly - it comes with all components needed for one person to play main game mode.
@Fearior
@Fearior 6 лет назад
It dosent say how many boards you need for KotH mode. Its just say that artefact need to be played in no one territory (where boards connect).

Watch It Played despite the boards, what else you need from the extra core?
@SwedishWookie

fito velado well, more cards is always nice. Plus a warband per player. But there's a few other warbands coming around release too I believe (deathrattle and ironjaws) plus more down the road. These also come with new cards. Some faction specific but a few neutral that anyone can use too. :)

Is there any rule preventing you from taking a card multiple times in your deck?
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 6 лет назад
That is covered in the deck building rules, which we don't detail in this video, but you can see on screen here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HBcTk4Azndo.htmlm58s (your power and objective decks must contain unique cards).

Yep, you roll them at the same time, essentially.

Great video! I gotta say you make a great case for the game, but I have to admit I really dislike this way of making games with little symbols and super abstract concepts like glory points or rage (Hordes) and so on. I really think simple traits (weapon skill, strength, toughness, life/wounds, etc.) is actually much LESS abstract and weird than all the little symbols and signs you have to keep re-learning every time a new game comes out. It's not intuitive, to me at least.

Toto Ro Hey Toto, thanks for checking out the video. Not making a case for the game, just teaching how it’s played. My hope is that it helps you make up your mind about whether or not it would be a good fit for ‘you’. Sounds like it did! Cheers :)

@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 6 лет назад
You're not necessarily missing anything - everyone will see something different in a games potential for them. We have a full play through on the channel as well, if you'd like to see the game in action.
@markbullock2618
@markbullock2618 6 лет назад
Yes you are missing something. You have a Deck of Power Cards and Objectives that you choose from many whittled down to 12 and 20. Thus you are creating a strategy to take in to play. In play you have 3 objectives and 5 power per phase or you can choose to pick more power from x20 deck or replace objectives. Thus the game isn't luck it's based on a firm strategy created from choosing a balanced deck.

This game seems a bit simplistic, is there any depth to it?
@jhoughto123
@jhoughto123 6 лет назад
MegaHamster From what i've heard a big part of the game comes from the deckbuilding. You can build your objective deck so you are trying to achieve specific things such as holding objectives, wiping out the enemy team or having all of your team survive. You can then build your power deck to help you achieve the objecives, or to balance out some of your factions weaknesses. So in the end, two players could play the same factions quite differently. Also each new faction comes with a bunch of cards anyone can use, so it's a bit like a LCG as well. Each factions also fights with a different number of fighters, and have different ways to upgrade their fighters. For instance, the red factions in this set gets stronger when 3 fighters die, regardless of whether it's the enemies fighters or their own. Therefore they will play a lot more aggressive, because even if it results in a death it benefits them. Aside from that, you might be suprised how much depth there is in deciding who to activate and what to do with them. I'm a big fan of Blood Bowl and this seems to borrow some of the best elements from that, such as supporting.
@piesandhiking4943

I guess that could add some depth for sure. Seems like something you might need to invest into to stay competitive though, eh? I love deckbuilding but when it comes with a big monetary investment it's not always so interesting as you can find yourself priced out of the game if you can't keep up.

I do not review on this channel (I find opinions on games vary too much, what one person find too simplistic, someone else finds depth in). That said, we have a game play series as well, if you think that might help you decide: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MYyGjVde5ao.html

Id say the rules are simple, however i often find games with simple rules have depth. Tactical card choices, when to play cards, postioning figures, choosing your warband etc. If you like the meta game plus the gameplay itself add depth, rather than the rules.

The game stick to the most important rule - KISS = Keep it Simple (and) Stupid. X-wing done that and its popular.
