i worked in the concrete industry for 15 years until i got a more steady job in a factory. im more stable than i ever was but i miss the work. i never had trouble sleeping at night when i was in the construction industry. most of the people i work with think they know what a hard days work is. i dont think most of them do unless theyve pushed and pulled concrete for 12-14 hours in the summer heat. i work 12 hour days in a factory now which isnt easy either. so i know what youre saying nel.

Mr.Odell there is this saying thrown around the construction industry. "You're only as good as your finishers" I call BS on that. No matter the trade. Painting,Drywall,Carpentry etc etc. If the work done prior is substandard no amount of finishing is going to correct it. It might fool a novice. But a pro will see it a mile away. The finishers you use are top notch no doubt. Very experienced in doing it correctly. I don't think most of the folks realize that. This was not an easy job. Thanks for bringing us along.

Hi David, great work as always Curious why the screeding came out so rough? Thus requiring several passes with the bull float. Is the goal to just screed as fast as possible and not worry about smoothing it? In New Zealand we usually have a single person on a 3.0m wide aluminium screed and the concrete comes out pretty smooth before a bullfloat even touches it. Maybe we are wasting too much time on the screeding

What concrete do you order for such finer aggregate... I did a DIY attempt and was shocked by how large the aggregates were... Not as loose, very hard to screed... Ended up hardening before we could use the bull float which left a lot of rough surface... Planning on renting a grinder and grinder the surface then render with sand/topping mix. Thanks

Hi Dave, I have a similar project in which we'll be pouring a large driveway in 2 separate sections. Half one day and half another. Since we have already laid #3 rebar all across, and in order to be able to lift the rebar, do I have to notch every 2x4 o simply cut them to be 3x3 instead? What would you recommend? We're shooting for 4" thick slabs. Thanks Ahead!!!

@@seephor it’s a monolithic pour. Therefore it’s all one piece of concrete no gaps or separately-poured concrete in between any section. Concrete cracks, there’s no stopping that no matter what. Having brick in this case does not affect wether weeds will grow thru or not.

Bull Float should have been done after hand floating, that guy going around bull floating was a complete waste of time , knee boards and hand floats first ,then you should have lightly sprayed it , then hit it with the bull Float last , a small 110 volt vibrator would have made it even faster You guys did a great job though, I'm not knocking your style, I think if you guys use the hand floats first , it will help to push down the bigger rocks and let that water rise , then wait a few mins , when that water rises , push that bull Float out to knock the access water off ,then when you draw it back, twist the handle in and you should have a Flawless finish for the broom to handle
