HOW TO POUR EXPOSED AGGREGATE ROUND STEPS, How to pour cement concrete steps, I try to give you guys transparent value, it took me hours to get this loaded, easy money how to pour concrete. fire pit stamp concrete patio ideas
I am watching for the first time because I am getting a new porch for my home. I won’t be doing it myself but watching different videos gives me an appreciation for the work involved. It helps me understand why it is expensive.
Now I got two concrete channels to watch every day I’m 70’ but you and Ryan have inspired me. If I was a young man again I would be doing concrete instead of floors all my life I’m still working with my son now I fought him 23 years ago
Yes sir she is an amazing person, her name is charli! Thanks buddy, I really hope u guys r doing well down there! Tell Benny to keep practicing making videos. He will get alot better editing and ideas will just come to him when he brainstorms! Can't wait for the next 1
Hey Bobby awesome job, I’m a union journeyman formsetter finisher down here in Southern California and just like you a battle a drug and alcohol addiction every week, and day, I can tell you are one of the best concrete finishers that I seen just by the passion and knowledge you share, you deserve a lot more subscribers and views but I know you’ll get there. Thanks for the videos. Look forward to the next one.
Right on! I ain't worried about the numbers tbh! As long as some 1 gets value. Thanks for the compliment, thanks for the comment, it's crazy I've had over 60k views in my videos all together! And I have 40 videos
Most concrete guys do, that's why I wanted to talk about that some, but we can get past that stuff. And maybe I can help show some guys how to get past that hump.
Nobody gets it but a finisher himself just like you it’s not about concrete it’s what you do if that makes sense, thanks for the response, you got a true subscriber down here just had to mention the dowels in the ground I would of used tape to stop the rust from touching all the other rebar
I haven't tried stencil yet, but it's high on my list to do. Probably have to do it at home because it's a hard sell in my area. Broom finish wins 9/10 because of its price compared to other finishes but I'll take exposed or a swirl finish over stamped any day of the week
I like to try stuff at my house 1st, but I pretty much only do broom finished here, I turn down stamp. We do some stamp borders, but I'm not an gona kill myself either, I am good at it, I do like EZTIQUE though! I got that secret mix design for those lurncrete retaining walls!
No problem, we are sure glad u watched it! Have a great day, BTW I just hired a photographer for pour days, so my videos should get better and easier to edit
Thanks jared! Welcome to the channel, I hope u come back and watch some more, I'm expirementing w editing and it is alot of fun, I think I have some cool new content
Came up great. We use a 40 degree nozzle on the pressure washer give one a go you will love it. The fan is smooth so it won’t blow anything out and it’s perfect for the same day washing in summer also. Keep up the good work 👍🙏🏻
We did use a pressure washer towards the end, u know how it is at 1st, u r really careful! Thanks for the compliment and comments! It really does help!
@@GRUBB-MUDD Great machine. With the newer undercarriage design it handles better too. I purposely broke pieces into large chunks to maximize the lift capacity. Machine didn't even flinch.
Looking nice bro. I've been looking for ideas to make a round corner step to get from our addition and the house. Whether it's out of wood or concrete with tile on it. Thanks man
Hi, I a new subscriber but I’m no concrete expert by any means! I was just hoping to do some stepping stone type things in our yard and I like your clear direction and great attitude! Keep up the great work! Slainte, DC🍀
thanks again dan, so last year i pretty much just did tutorials, this year i vlogged but its all concrete and i do give tips along the way even when i vlog
@@GRUBB-MUDD agggregate.. forgot to tell ya. Actually, wasn’t sure how to spell it, and had to look it up… lol. It was the Video you did at your mom’s place… I’d be lucky, to get some square steps, poured right.
Yo I just discovered your channel about a week ago I am from central Indiana I own a smaller landscaping company, i dont do concrete but l love watching your vids, I think your channels gonna grow superfast if you keep up the uploads you also do great work keep it up sir and Hoosiers LETS GOOO!!!
Nice job 👍 In terms of using fibre in exposed, I’ve done it a few times on commercial driveways, and it wasn’t a problem. We used stealth fibre which is less visible. The only issue would be where the fibre isn’t properly mixed or has clumped together
I'm appreciative of this video, just took a job that requires these types of steps. I was wondering how to form It. Mainly the radius, and how to pull the pins.
thats whata up, we usedthat lu-on and ripped it down to what ever size u need. just pull your pins as it starts to set up. glad it helped. did u find my channel in search results?
@@GRUBB-MUDD yeah it’s insane I myself been down that road and bounced back another reason I relate more to you and your work I’ll be staying tuned keep your head up
@@GRUBB-MUDD Actually based out of Anderson but work in indy 95% of the time, how far out do you travel for work? If someone needs a job im recommending you!
no problem jason, i show how to do this in the video i will be posting this weekend, and 4 real exactly how. some ppl do t do it right. u have to watch close i have a scene where we finish the steps on this patio specifially if u watch u will see. (see u this weekend) btw it is a crazy video
@@GRUBB-MUDD awesome look forward to seeing it. I am about to poor my steps in the next few weeks if the weather with cooperate. I appreciate the response.
I use fiber in my exposed. Its fine, dont really even need to torch after exposing. Cant really tell if you use 1kg per m3. We go by cubic meters(m3) here, not yards. you should come to Calgary Canada and do one of my projects with me next season. That be cool!
We could probably do something next year, I'm still on portion right now! I don't even know if I'm allowed I got felonies from my past bro, but I Def would! When I get off probation I can get my passport and I will 4 sure
@@GRUBB-MUDD Hope your camera is ok! But a hell of a job Bobby. Thanks for the tips on the exposed aggregate I've only done it twice, and really like the way it looks.
@@joshuaweiler4566 yeah it's sweet! I git some ideas to make some really sick exposed patio! The camera is ok, I just didn't get the footage from, that Angie for yall! I take this youtube stuff serious
Hello nice job, cuestion what type of mix u use, I did a sample of 1-2-3 mix pegravel with Coca-Cola retardant and didn’t come look good. What. Type of or name of retardant you use. I from California
I find that the chemicals (retardants) are a bit pricy so I prefer to use molasses diluted with water (the sugar is what eats the Portland cement) to expose the aggregate and it’s way cheaper just don’t let it puddle or leave it on to long usually about 10-12 minutes and then I just use a garden hose not a pressure washer and I do it the same day when the concrete is hard enough to walk on without leaving imprints from your feet. No plastic required 😬 also for radius forms I prefer 3/4 plywood then set the depth of my saw to score the backside of the plywood leaving the last 2 layers uncut so it doesn’t break that way you don’t have that little “step” where the Masonite meets the form if it’s a super tight radius I just double up the Masonite and soak it with form oil to get the right radius without breaking. Nice steps thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼 p.s. it is possible to patch exposed aggregate even colored exposed aggregate but it’s time consuming and extremely tedious but if you have the patience and eye it’s no problem (I’d explain it but I’m already giving you to many secrets and the concrete police might make me disappear 😳😂😂😂
I've always used regular sugar I use a Gatorade bottle chop off top and use it as a measuring cup go three scoops sugar and fill the rest of red can up with water and spray it on. I use a pressure pump made from a hot tub pump it really boost the pressure and wash it same day.
@@GRUBB-MUDD the sugar water dies not create any discoloration I found most discoloration comes from not getting a nice clean wash or if you out calcium in it iv always used non- chloride when needed for cooler weather. I do like to acid wash as well a couple days after washing. I use half gallon muriatic acid then fill rest of five gal bucket with water dump it on and broom it around wait till the fizz stops then spray it clean . It definitely makes for a better deal job
@@thatjuanshow4485 there u go guys, I agree w anything Juan says! If u r reading this check out Juan's channel @ THAT JUAN SHOW very informative channel about concrete! This guys is a beast! 4 real! Thanks Juan for your thoughts! ru-vid.com/show-UCF4KyLZkmf8HqPc6zGfQeKA

"Low hanging fruit" when it comes to advertising!
Thank you, but I still don't get it. You mean you just use the ready-mixed concrete and add the pea gravel and sand to that? Don't those raggedy chunks of gravel in the concrete mix ruin the pea gravel surface? Also, does the kind of sand matter?
I just ordered a pea gravel mix , I don't put sand or gravel in it. just ordera pea gravel mix and follow the video. spray retarder on it, cover it over night and power wash it off in the morning. u will be left w exposed agg surface
If it's is concrete or a service based company, I would say be rdo grind, but I would say educate yourself, study ppl smarter than u r, that's what I do, and it helps, but be careful listening to to many ppl! But be ready to go hard, u Def can, and don't give up. I guarantee u will be good! Thanks for the good question!
yo, man. i dont hold grudges,, i need to apologize, i shouldnt have called you a lil punk. u asked who do i make concrete for, i will tell you i make content 4 who ever needs to hear it. weither its to get a good laugh off of a short, or to an addict that is struggling, or to a concrete guy that has a question. its kinda funny though i even explained all this in this video right here that i found your comment on. i reached out to a hisapnic person that i respect alot another youtuber from California. im not saying im going to delete the video because he is on live right now. i will say this just as i did b4 i meant no malice or disrespect by it and thats why i took offense to the word wigger so much. but im over it. i dont hold grudges. 1 thing though is i have made it clear that i make 2 different kinds of videos funny short concrete videos and long form concrete videos. to some1 that has never been through addiction its hard to understand but i would rather help an addict out all day everyday then make a concrete video. i tie the 2 in types in because there are addicts that watch my channel just as i have stated many of times. anyways im.not asking 4 an appology a subscribe or even a response. im just clearing my side if the street. thats my responsibility. agian i got out of character. my channel is not just a concrete channel as i said in this video that is playing right here. i dive deep into the lifestyle of a concrete finisher and the things that some of us have gone through. my channel is more of a life experience channel. btw im.not going to blast u in a video either. i am going to address all this hate though. be safe and have a good week. tha ks for all the views and comments in the past. i always liked hearing from u. but again just cuz i do t run my channel like the other concrete guys doesnt mean its wrong or bad. i would take helping an addict everyday over teaching any1 anythi g about concrete. peace and i mean that
Thanks for showing this. I know nothing about concrete, but I have to do a small exposed aggregate project at my house. Can you tell me what mix you use for the concrete and exactly what the constituents are called? I saw a formula: 15% cement, 50% aggregate, 20% sand, and 15% water. Is this a good formula? I assume it is by volume. How do you find cement powder that doesn't already have sand and gravel in it? What kind of sand do you use? Coarse sand or playground sand or leveling sand or does it matter? And it seems like pea gravel is very hard to come by these days; the basic hardware stores don't seem to have it. I guess I have to go to a soil/stone supplier for that. Help if you can, thanks. Sharon
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MqgH4pZIeI0.html this may help, I would use a ratio of 3 parts stone 2 parts sand and 1.5 parts Portland cement powder
@@GRUBB-MUDD Thank you, but I still don't get it. You mean you just use the ready-mixed concrete and add the pea gravel and sand to that? Don't those raggedy chunks of gravel in the concrete mix ruin the pea gravel surface? Also, does the kind of sand matter?
Hi grubb mudd. I'm 30. I want to start my own concrete business. I've done a very small amount of concrete work and never had a job doing it for a living. Is this crazy? Should I work for someone else first or if I start small and just do shed pads and stuff to begin with will I be ok? Don't worry about hurting my feelings. I just want to know your opinion on my situation
as long as you have at least 1 guy that u can hire to show you the ropes you should be alright. just dont pour to much at 1 time and try to pour early in the am
dee I will be honest, I am not really the guy to ask about resurfacing products. I live in a freeze that state and we don't use them much. I have used ARDEX and Quick creets version "BLUE BAG RESURFACER" ardex is costly but a great product. I prefer quick Crete version cuz it's a good product too but less $$$. I'm more of a flat work and regular concrete guy
@@deeb7752 I don't know, like I said I'm not the overlay guy to ask really. I've only done them inside and only 1x or 2x on out side stuff. we mainly just pour concrete. does winter and freeze thaw effect that stuff and make it pop off? I've seen alot of overlays that have that happen.
One time we had micro fiber accidentally put in at the plant! next day wash solomon colors "yellow" they came up mostly laying flat but a few sticking up.. after 3 years they all washed out of the surface and left marks like a rooster or chickens walked on it lol..
@@GRUBB-MUDD yeah as long as they spin the truck good the color doesn't wash out!! really like all Solomon's products i use the next day surface deactivator for exposed agg!
@@TylerNieves-ty7ns whoa whoa whoa, I have no idea what that is,, have u ever permatique exposed agg? I think that would be sharp, I've never heard of using co,ored concrete for exposed agg, but tbh exposed agg is prob my 2nd favorite finish behind stenciling
@@TylerNieves-ty7ns what's up Tyler, haven't seen u in a min, prob should have reached out on fb, but will you check out my new one I dropped yesterday, it's good I think u will enjoy, if u like it hit that button too lol (just trying to get 1 good 1 out there ya know)
It looks good,2nd step has a bit of flat spot along front, slight curve would of been perfect,as long as U happy 😁 I am just been picky.while I am being picky U could of made bottom step same height as existing concrete, that way U could of made each step 6 inches, which I think is a better step height , but many ways to skin a cat 😺
@@GRUBB-MUDD it looks great 👍 I see what U mean with screws now, steps are always are tricky to do , especially exposed ones , you are only 1 on utube that does the whole deal good on U ,I couldn't film and do the job , especially if I was the only concreter good on U ,U will make it.
@concreter6832 dude its weird, i like to vlog w the go pro on my head, its easier. plus i honestly didnt think i was going to get big telling tricks and tips every video. i am greatful to have all that old content, but i honestly think i just need to make a few things clear on the next video. It is hard to edit, filming can be tricky too. drones make it 10× harder and having a green crew, my dad isnt green but he is no finisher either. he can but he is a retired concrete truck driver. zeus is getting good though, really surprised me how well he did on the last video. its all coming along and i am ready for the season to officially start. i may even put the go pro on the old man 1×
no we dont. thats kinda pointless, you are spraying off the top, you also want the retarder or delay to penatrate the surface, when you trowel it has less of a chance of actually taking. you want that stuff penetrating because you want to hose offf all that cream. (thats just my opinion, there are a couple of waysto do exposed agg and that is just my opinion, if you have a way that works for you. do it that away) i do appreciate you watching and respect what you have to say it just doesnt work for me in my area of the country
@@GRUBB-MUDD - Nice work. I'm trying to do a square step similar to your round steps in the video . Wasnt sure how to frame properly with the steps going up being progressively smaller. I see you can take the stakes and forms out before concrete is completely dry and it will still hold its form.
@LucifersDeathSquad yeah it is def a timing thing though. u def will wana pull your steaks as it is setting up. u can pull the steaks about 20 mins before u actually pull the board off. i did do a video on how we set that job up i showed the forms and the tear out and of course the stone and rebar set up. thanks 4 watching
@LucifersDeathSquad no thank u, btw i respond to most comments if u ever have a question i will do my best to answer it. Grand rapids isnt to far from indiana. we are about 20 mins west of downtown indy
wrong REVERAND you can let it 24 hours if you use sugar water DO SOME RESEARCH im in the business 47 years ive poured it all i dont brag that i know it all but im sure i can question a lot of your commentary use sugar water cover it with plastic and the sugar water will retard about 1/8 inch of the top cream in pea graver or what its really called is granite chips and yes if you have to you can use acid on it in a couple days
