Powder coating gives you one of the most economical, color-durable, and longest-lasting finishes available... and the Eastwood HotCoat powder coating system makes it about as easy as it can get! DIY powder coating produces surfaces that are far more resistant to chipping, scratches and wear than other finishes, and the color selection is virtually unlimited, with high and low gloss, metallic, and clear finishes available.
The colors of our UV-resistant powder coat kits stay bright and vibrant longer, and our powder coating supplies give you all the help you need, including powder coat paint guns, silicone plugs, hanging hooks, spray booths and more.
Dual-Voltage HotCoat Powder-Coating Gun gives you the most complete coverage from tight areas to large surfaces.
Extremely durable finish
Coat and cure in under an hour!
Easy to apply
Quick color changes
Economical
Versatility with 2 settings
Low 15,000-volt setting
High 25,000-volt setting for multi-coat coverage over larger areas
Increased powder adhesion
Minimal overspray
This innovative system will allow you to achieve the benefits of powder coating small parts instead of coating them with paint. The new Dual Voltage system gives you the capability to coat small areas using the Low 15kv setting. Or coat large areas using the High voltage setting 25kv. All you need is a compressed air source (5-10 PSI from a portable tank with a regulator or a compressor) and an electric oven or toaster oven.

A friend of mine made an oven using a large metal cabinet that he insulated with firebrick on three side, and fire-X board on the doors, and heated using 3 electric oven elements, it seems to work fairly well

What might cause a bubble to form at the seam near the bottom of the cup? We have had several do this during the baking process.

10:21 Can you use a high temperature tape to tape the edge (top rim) of tumbler when you don’t want to use straw and so mouth doesn’t touch the coating while drinking right from cup?

Sidney Pendergrass it has to be able to withstand 400 degrees Fahrenheit for a minimum of 10 minutes for some powders and 20 minutes for Eastwood powders

Is it possible to use a heat gun instead of an oven?
@ManCrafting
@ManCrafting 8 лет назад
Kevin Hornbuckle a lot of the powders require 10-12 minutes to cure once the cup reaches PMT.

Kevin Hornbuckle it's possible to get a good look from a heat gun. it is very unlikely it will be properly cured and have any kind of durability though. we use a heat gun sometimes when laying multiple layer decals down. after the vinyl stencil is removed we will do a full bake on it.

Once you heat a Yeti cup it loses it insulation valve,that why they say never put it in a dishwasher.

What would be the process in powder coating a tumbler with a base coat, and then a low temp clear coat? I've read that heat flocking isn't easy unless you're a pro at it, and the instructions in the powder coat gun manual states to cure the first coat completely before curing a second coat. I've also read online that a partial cure, let's say a 60% cure, is a better method before adding the clear coat and finishing off with a full cure for the clear coat? What do the pros at Eastwood recommend?

How do you powder coat plastic parts
@eastwoodco
@eastwoodco 2 года назад
That's tough, your part has to be able to withstand the 400F required to flow-out the powder.

@Shane-Singleton

From my understanding you can't mix powders like you do paint. You have to buy it in the color you want to apply it as. I'm not sure about overlaying one on top of a previously cured layer though.

No breathing apparatus I see, I thought Powdercoating is harmful if breathed in.
