I am so appreciative to these interview videos by Mr. Clark. I reviewed them, studied, and practiced. I've been watching your videos and it a great help. Although the market conditions in the US are miles apart from that in South Africa (where I stay), there are universal truths in your approach. Being in a country with around 26% unemployment it is extremely difficult to land a new job especially when you're a baby boomer. I'm definitely going to apply your approach and maybe land an online job as a freelance consultant. Keep up the excellent work.

Hi Darnell, your insights are very interesting! Most career coaches tell us to answer the tell me about yourself question by highlighting our most recent relevant work experience, responsibilities, and achievement. Interviewers tend to ask either tell me about yourself or walk me through your resume but rarely both. Thanks, I will keep your tips in mind.

Hey Jordan, thank for your feedback, I really appreciate it more than you know. That's week YOU must separate the two. Hiring managers hire for two reasons, #1 Likeability, and #2 Fitness. Tell me about yourself addresses the likeability and take me through your resume addresses the fitness. They are two different questions. Please keep me posted.

Great presentation overall, but I especially like the part at the end about "How to dress". I have noticed an increasingly casual style of dress across most workplaces nowadays, and will never forget the interview I rocked up to in my pinstripe suit and starched white blouse, when everybody there (including the interviewers) were dressed in jeans and t-shirts! When I commented on this to the recruiting agent afterwards, he haughtily replied, "We tell all our candidates to dress professionally!" That's great, except I felt like a tool. (Plus I did not get the job.) I have noticed that every job I have landed which required an in-person interview, there was always a near-perfect match between what I wore and the culture of the workplace.

Based on the "tell me about yourself" suggestion you made, can you please clarify what is the difference between the "tell me about yourself question" and "why should we hire you"? 2. Does asking the employer about what the reservations piece give an impression of insecurity? What's your take on that?

Hello Sue, thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it more than you know. Those two questions are the same, some interviewers ask one vs the other. The main thing is to deliver your Value-Added Proposition for both. No, asking about their reservations gives you the opportunity to address them right then. Otherwise, YOU would never know.

This is a first round draft video. Conquer your fear! Conquer your fear! My next interview is Monday. Thanks again. My weakness is not having competitive experience in the key software to be used for training end users, and no clue about the salary. Going in with weaknesses ;/ ...still trying to not be sent to the farm team. The bright side - experience pitching the questions typed and going all in for the base steal at the end. Then brush myself off if they only have bullpen eyes for me.

@@DarnellClarke Thank you sir. I studied your videos until the last hour. I asked so many questions they had to stop me. We went 22 minutes over. I still snuck in the "I want this job" in brief. I emailed my 2 unique thank you notes within 3 hours. I included my last two "bordered" items...the "reservations" one and they got the final "hire me!" statement, this time in full, since I rushed through it after their request to end for the top of the hour next interview. They gave the classic, "We have 2 other..." I have pushed the proverbial envelope, Masters degree aside, I have do some "grunt work"/temporary service work anywhere to stay afloat. "Hanging in there" to a fault...is real. If I catch a big break again, we can celebrate and I owe you some 5 shares. Signed: In the dugout spitting out sunflower seeds, for now. ;) Peace

I think all this don't Matter. If the interviewer doesn't like you. You won't get the Job. Start your own business and be your own boss.

Hi Darnell, thank you so much for the additional information and insight from a recruiters point of view. I have have a quick question, for those taken a year out from work, how would a person- -Word time out from work within a resume? -Would it look negative from a recruiters point of view? -How would you answer in a interview if asked why have you taken a year out and not shorter? Hey my friend, thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it more than you know. The best rule of thumb is "tell the truth". If there is a gap in your resume, so what. Life happens to us all. If your resume speaks to the job requirement(s), you will get a call-back. In the interview, tell them the truth of why you stayed out that long. You must have a story to tell.
