Playing the first few holes on the range during your warm-up the day of the tournament is some of the best advice I've ever received. Exactly what you said, visualize the hole on the range, go through your full pre-shot routine. Then going to the real first tee is just like playing the next hole in your mind. You're already in competition mode.

This was great! As it's my first season playing in some amateur events and such this was a great help to see kind of what I should be doing and thinking before the tournament day.

That's the type of content I like! Really interesting and informative. I don't know if you enjoy doing this kind of content but that's what I was looking for when I subscribed to you one year ago meaning what is it like to be a pro and tips on how you get better by doing things different from what we amateurs do.

Always try to balance it out, these videos are fun, but would be boring if it’s all I made. Really happy to hear you liked this one 👊🏼

@@andrewjensengolf I was lacking the approach to fitness in the week ahead. Stretching in the morning of the tournament of course but I also don't want to put my fitness aside for a tournament because I want to keep improving it long term for all the future tournaments. At the same time I can't do any strength the day before. Should I be doing something else?

Andrew, perfect answering. If you have the time to prep for a tournament. Taking the first few days to work technique is wonderful and then getting a chance whether you know or don’t know the course to just soak in the information it provides is very helpful. Much appreciate the overview of how to prep. Now, my question is do you walk or ride the course during your practice round? Cheers mate, as always you are knocking it out of the park with solid information.
@andrewjensengolf
@andrewjensengolf 5 лет назад
Generally walk, unless it's Florida where every course is a cart course

I am a junior golfer and I feel that if I play a practice round the day before it doesn’t reflect my typical ball striking in a tournament because there is no pressure

Awesome video Andrew! I have some follow up questions. 1) I'm a 17 y/o junior golfer, coming up on 2 years in August. I'm a pretty solid player (3.7 handicap) when there's no pressure, but when there is pressure (played in my second tournament last week) I get long and fast and look like I've never played before. What are some tips you have about handling pressure internally and sticking to your swing? 2) as a junior golfer, we have a LOT of tournaments through the summer, it's all about getting experience. That's great, but it means sometimes you can't check out a course before a tournament there. How do you prepare and play a tournament when it's at a golf course you haven't seen and can't see? Do you change your strategy?
@andrewjensengolf
@andrewjensengolf 5 лет назад
Try and get a yardage book if you can, or google earth it to get a feel for the course and it's look. I've answered plenty of questions about the pressure in previous Q&A videos, so maybe click through that playlist to find some answers. Good luck!

Great stuff man 👍 Say you're struggling a bit the week of the tournament, do you try to develop a go to shot for the course or do you already have one?
@andrewjensengolf
@andrewjensengolf 5 лет назад
Just try to lean on what’s working and gain confidence that way. Finding a glimmer of confidence can erase a lot of struggling

Peak performers are the people who have a fixed routine,that they go through on every shot ,they focus on this routine,one shot at a time and this helps them be , 1-confident in their abilities 2-calm 3-clear 4-focused on the exact task at hand , not the past and not the future. 5- just the process to execute the task at hand . 6- when something goes wrong,they quickly refocus on the above process for the next shot. 7-the score will look after itself. 8-they smile and have fun . 9-they score better than most of their competitors 10- occasionally your process is so focused on every shot ,that you win the event . Good Luck all ❤️

Let’s say it’s a Saturday and Sunday and you don’t know the course and don’t get a practice round how would you prepare starting Monday on the week of the tournament
@andrewjensengolf
@andrewjensengolf 4 года назад
Google earth to see the course, look at any online information you can find; maps, flyovers, scorecard. Then just go out there with HIGH confidence and trust in yourself, play the course the way it presents itself to you, and avoid any undue risk because you don't know what is out there on a blind shot etc
