I thought your review was unbiased. It is clearly sponsored by Lingoda. I tried Lingoda and it doesn't work at all... crowded classes at B2 level, the material is not fully covered at class.... a mess! Thank God I got my refund after 4 days of signing up with them.
I was actually looking for a way to prepare TEF or TCF for free, and money is the last thing I have right now. What I really have is the desire to learn more and prepare my future,. Then I'd like to know if there's any university course just like Cambridge or British Council?
I'm planning to apply for immigration to Canada. How do I prepare if I plan to take a TEF Canada anytime in this year? Will appreciate all the help I can get.
Totally agree with what you said at the beginning of the video. When I was 15 I took a English language certification attesting a level B1. But I was so well prepared that I ended up getting a B2 level. Praticing with mock exams is a key step in the test preparation, because we get to encounter frequently used words/grammar structures in the exam, know exactly what to do for each part of the test and now what's expected from us. Congratulations on getting a C1 level on the test, hope to see you speak French in your videos now!
Im currently traveling to France to study French for a semester. I tested an A2 on my previous French placement test but I hope to take the DELF at the end and get a B1 or B2
Congratulations Rosie! I have just passed the DELF B2 (results arrived Xmas Eve- what a present!) so I know how much work is involved in preparing and passing these exams. Am wondering whether to go for C1, have always believed the TEF/TCF was slightly easier than the DELF. Do you think that's true? I found that the DELF was very structured in terms of how to approach the written and speaking papers so good prep. is vital. But well done again.
I just passed DELF/DALF b2 and also got my results at Christmas. I agree it’s the best Christmas gift ever! I spoke French fluently when I studied in Paris 10 years ago but haven’t used it much since then. I spent around 4 months working with a private tutor to brush up my listening and oral (weekly lessons of 1.5hr + homework). I also watched a lot of French RU-vid videos 😂 so glad the qualification lasts for a lifetime
what do u mean that ur qualification lasts for a lifetime? i thought tef and tcf only has a validity of 2 years? if it was a joke then u can ignore this comment if not then pls explain.
Two days back IRCC changed rule for express entry and I was thinking to do french and Its gonna b my third language....I was thinking to do it and Its my first day ...by hearing u saying those french words ....I was like I need to put a knot in my tongue in order to speak like that
I just passed the DELF B1 and am aiming for B2 at the next round in June. The tests sound very similar! I studied in Paris twice during college and was a very confident speaker, but now I find I have a lot of anxiety around the language and it really impedes my motivation and ability to study well :/
I think all of us learning a foreign language feel this anxiety. It's completely normal. In fact, the linguist Stephen Krashen has written extensively about this kind of stress "filter." I find it critical to not focus on mistakes. In other words, the worst thing you can do is try not to make mistakes. Just focus on the meaning of what you are trying to say, and don't think about grammar. If you have conversations with people in French ask them to correct you only after you have finished. If they interrupt you with corrections, it will cause you to stress and block.
UK guy here. I dont know whether it's just me, but living in Europe I find anyone other than native English speakers seem to be born with a brain that absorbs foreign languages like a sponge lol. Takes them a few years to learn another language while Im still learning numbers after three years lol

Ça serai vraiment gentil si tu pouvais me donner ton avis. Merci beaucoup.

Another great video! Thanks, it helps to motivate me. I have been studying French on my own for decades (on and off). I have taken college French courses and Alliance Francaise classes. I have levels 1-5 Pimsleur and currently taking level 3 Fluenz. I can't seem to get past a level 1A/B. :(

What a waste of time looking at this video. Don't get me wrong the tips can be useful but I was expecting more tailored tips about the exam and how to do better. This video is literally an advertisement and promotion of other things. If anyone is doing the TEF at least for expression both Oral and Writing, I would suggest memorizing introduction phrases and knowing the structure of what is presented and the most expected answers. This can give you a big cushion of things to say and buy you time to think about the other things. You do not do an exam to prove that you can speak it, you do it to get a grade.
Hey guys, I am going to take the TCF or TEF in three months time for Canadian Immigration purposes. I studied french in high school about ten years ago but didnt practice or do anything with it after leaving high school, so I'm pretty much a newbie. I need your advice. Do I stick to youtube and udemy to learn french or will it be better to go to a french school?
I once did a test on my French skills after one year of school lessons :'D today, I study French in University and it's really cool. I have a grammar class, and last time we did a conjugation test. Everybody else but me new about it, just I had not been warned. Anyway, I wasn't too nervous, I thought I could rely on my grammar skills. Unfortunately, we had to fill in the gaps of an excerpt of French literature. The mainpart of the verbs was first person passé simple, a tense we never learned at school and which I only knew from books. So I filled in the gaps with passé simple third person, hoping it might be the same form... well, now I know better than that. And thanks to your wonderful video about swearing, Rosie, I can at least properly complain about it in French :'D Really, that test was breaking my ovaries, putain! 😁
I just completed a whole year in Canada's express entry pool at 438 points without an invite. I have already maxed out my IELTS score. Too maximise my chances of getting an invite, I'm thinking about giving this test. Nearly 15 years ago I learned French for a couple of years, nearly all of it I've forgotten since. I was thinking of taking a French course for 3 months which will help me remember and practice. Do you think 3 months are enough for someone to prepare and obtain a decent score?
3 month impossible, I don't want to discourage you but one year is enough to reach b1 or b2 .. need mor effort in listening and reading at least 30 minutes daily
@@karimallel6411 If I can get to B1 level, Ill get anything between 4 to 8 points and if I get to C1 level then that shoots my CRS score all the way to 480. I'm sure to get an invite then. I'm not from a STEM background and nor do I have a partner on my profile to increase my CRS. Don't have much of a choice now. I just have to leave India. I will either leave this country or die trying.
Which test is easier to get a higher score in (TEF or TCF)? Which book series is ideal to start with from your Amazon book list? Is the Bescherelle book good?
That's not true..Our whole education system for foreign languages is based on it. For our Diplôme National du Brevet (national diploma before high school) we need to validate at least one foreign language at level A2 and for our French Baccalauréat (Général) our first foreign language (Langue Vivante 1- almost always English ) must be at a level of B2. (Baccalauréat is High School graduation level that allows you to enter uni) For University level it is C1. Of course, in France most people lose some of their English the minute they graduate from high-school, due to lack of practice, so only few people have a B2 level in English.
Hey! thank you so much for the video. I was wondering if you could tell me the name of the books you used back then, I tried to get them from the link on amazon but it looks like it's no longer available. I'd appreciate it so much!

I really want to do the Lingoda marathon but don’t think I’d be able to give it the attention I would like in the coming months with uni starting :( do you know if they have them at other times? And could I still use your code?
Thanks for the video! I was wondering if you know how different is the TCF from DELF. Do you think one is harder than other? I have to prepare for TCF now, I passed DELF a few years ago. Please help!
Hello, in my opinion duolingo is not the best so I do recommend you getting a textbook/workbook that you make you familiar with phrases and different words. Another way to get yourself comfortable with french words is to use a sticky notes and plaster them on objects and to say that word in french after you read the french word. Make sure you change up the notes put them on different objects etc. Go at your own pace! Best of luck my friend!
Guys! I took TCF and I got C2 in both comprehension parts, and C1 in both production parts. I'm still surprised, I was honestly expecting B2, maybe C1 in reading comprehension. What I did was: I already had an alright grammar foundation, so 90% of my studying for this test was listening, listening and listening like crazy. Important: my grammar is not perfect, I still make mistakes and hesitate and there are a lot of things I dont remember. So I kind of read the grammar (5% of my study time), and did practice speaking (5%). I studied for like 6 or 7 months before the test, 3 to 6 days a week. And I found listening content that I found interesting, so I it wasnt like "ugh, I have to study" but "let's see what this video is about, how cool." So yeah, bottom line: listen, listen, listen. (I also used TV5's videos and took 16 test models).
books are old fashioned but very useful, always get an exercise book, for me it has been the best,I finished a grammer b1 delf book,God knows how many sentences I formed ,also it has almost 100 listening texts,I am starting the vocabulary version soon
Hi, I startup quebec immigration process. I want to learn french language, can you help me? . Where can I get previous / model question papers of tef exams ? Guide me please.

Hello Rosie. I'm fond of your videos!! I'm French and I'm keen on English (I would like to be an English teacher). So thanks to your videos, I keep on improving my English level. Congratulations for you exam!! 😉
As long as you're open to correction, +Lisaaa Toutouille, the next sentence also needs correction. You would want to write, "So, thanks TO your videos, I AM IMPROVING my level of English."
@@LauraMorland Thank you for your corrections, sometimes I don't pay attention to the mistakes before commenting. However, I think that "I improve my level " is correct 🤔 but to be sure, I change the sentence anyway.
yes you can.. we will guide and teach French with TEF Preparation . I would like to invite you to attend free online orientation in Google meet to know more about our course. To take part in orientation give us text in WhatsApp or call us to have invite link. Have a nice day!

Felicitations !! but why did you decide to do the TCF as opposed to the DELF or DALF ? I hear everyone telling me it's better to do one of those than the TCF but I'm never entirely sure
I am preparing for the TCF exam, i need to know the writing topics or the link for sample writing questions for the three tasks that appear in the exams

Salut! You said you prepared for TEF from Lingoda.. however Lingoda doesnt help with TEF according to their website. What subscription did you take at Lingoda and how did it help?
Shouldn't a C2 be almost impossible for non-native speakers? Funnily enough I've heard of natives who had failed to receive the C2 level. Furthermore didn't B2 count as fluent already? Just not familiar with peculiarities?
The problem with those exams (and I should know as I trained to be a French-as-a-foreign-language teacher), is that the higher you go, the more the exams are geared towards skills and capabilities that have nothing to do with your level of French. So, if you've never studied texts or written essays at university for example, it is very hard to get C1 or C2, even if your accent and mastery of the langiage is perfect and you don't even sound like a non-native speaker. Which is why, as with a lot of other language exams, you can get higher scores than your actual level if you study for the type of exam you're taking, or can fail C1 and C2, even if you're a native speaker (very similar to the IELTS situation).
@@miyounova I've felt that way while preparing for the IELTS test. Due to an unfortunate accident where I tore my meniscus I sadly had to postpone it. However during the preparation period at a language school I had felt like I was not being taught to get any better at speaking the English language but more as if I was being prepared to take my final exams in school... I will have to take the test soon though in order to attend HULT university ~ I sincerely hope I make the C1 level. When I did my B1 level in French three years ago I had to spontaneously talk about how I would imagine an internship at a company in France which what seemed utterly random for what the preperation for the DELF test taught me..
@@NotEvenFrench Thank you for your answer! And I couldn't agree more. I think spontaneity and an almost unconditional understanding of the language is the goal to strive for. Autrement apprendre, peu importe quelle langue, ne fait pas plaisir ou le sentiment d'accomplissement, je pense..
A French teacher who teaches DELF/DALF test preparation classes told me she thought 70% of French native speakers would probably not pass the C2 exam. She said the exam is targeted to elite graduate schools and high level jobs. In order to pass you need to be able to write university level essays and verbally discuss very complex subjects. So, any native French speaker without a university education would probably fail. It really is a very specialized exam not a general test of fluency.
I think you should think twice about promoting Lingoda - lots of peopl ehave been conned out of money in the super sprint - Lingoda cancels lessons and people can't finish. REad on Trustpilot - I think it detracts from your credibility, promoting them.
Hi Rosie, one question, how many times a year do they do this marathon? I can't do it this time, but in a month and a half I'm going to live in France and I want to get ready to go to the university. Thanks and congrats!
@@NotEvenFrench Thanks so much!! I enrolled in the half marathon 😊 I'm excited to begin! I think it'll be helpful to get a good enough level of French to get a job after I arrive.
I signed up for a trial a few days after watching your Lingoda video and then registered for the half marathon. To my surprise the marathon started immediately after the trial, so 20 December, and it says in my account that it expires 20 March.
Hello, it is very nice of you to share your experience. Thank you a lot! As i know, in the comprehension orale part, we have 10 seconds between each question. Should we read the question first or after the audio ?
does anybody know how many good questions should I have in listening for example to get at last 246 points in Tef Canada, I am really confused on how this score is determined, I have looked information on internet, but I only find vague questions, your help would be more than appreciated.
As a french person I think it's wicked to give for a test a quebecqois accent, because even us can't understand a shit, and gosh it would be funny if you had a test on a speech of LASSALE
