My name is Jack McLean and I’m the founder of Prepare Like a Pro. I have worked in the fitness industry for my entire professional life. I love training athletes so that they can reach their personal goals and become the best sportspeople that they can possibly be.
My foray into the fitness industry began in high school when I worked as a swimming teacher for adults. After finishing school, I completed my personal training certificate with the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers. As soon as I started working, I loved the motivation of my clients as they strived to learn and improve themselves.
As a young adult, I played football at Caulfield Grammarians and oversaw the team’s pre-season program. I enjoyed coaching the football players to become better athletes for a common goal of high performance!
As my career progressed, I became interested in Crossfit. Crossfit is a physically demanding sport from which I learned not just how far I could push myself, but about the importance of rest and recovery. By attaining this elite level of athletic performance, I understood how to listen to my body and learned how crucial it is to have a well-balanced program.
For the last five years, I have combined my interest in strength and conditioning with my passion for football and have been working, first at the Box Hill Hawks Football Club and then Hawthorn Football Club.
I'm currently employed at the Melbourne Football Club managing the strength & conditoning for the VFL squad and assisting the strength & power program for the AFL squad.
All aspects of my professional experience have fed into the creation of Prepare Like a Pro. My approach to athletic performance is one of mindset-recovery-nutrition and I apply this in everything that I do.
At 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐨, our passion is to help footballers get fitter, faster, and stronger with AFL standard, strength & conditioning services.
We are the premier training program for footy players, founded by Jack McLean in 2020.
It's a place where you’ll learn cutting-edge physical preparation strategies to optimize body resilience and peak performance.
🏉We've worked at AFL Clubs like Hawthorn, Melbourne, St.kilda, GWS, Adelaide, Westcoast, Geelong, and with up-and-coming footballers like Nick Daicos, Jacob Van Rooyen, Josh Fahey, Cooper Murley, and Paul Curtis.
