I recommend that you put some rubber gloves on and put some grease ( any grease, I use red grease) in your palm, and just smear it on the drive parts and spin the wheels to evenly spread it. Wipe up any excess grease, so it doesn’t sling grease on the friction plate and disk. And for grease fittings, it’s self explanatory.
You may not have to drain either the gas or oil to put the machine in the service position. I had full oil and gas and was able to do so without a problem. Just make sure gas cap is on tightly and check for leaks.
Not all that helpful. The title doesn't say it's about a specific model, but obviously I don't have the same model because my oil drain is in the back and I don't have either an Ariens or Briggs and Stratton engine, I've got a Tecumseh. The instructions in the manual suck as far as explaining how and where to lubricate and all you do is refer people to the diagram in the manual! How about actually showing where the fittings are, and where oil needs to be applied? I get better information from videos made by owners than what comes out of the Ariens channel.
Got a question.. I bought one of these machines last year for 1300 bucks. Only used it a few times, went to change oil before this season and I don't have one of those easy change oil drains? What gives? Us this a defect? It is a deluxe 28 machine, auto turn.
Hi, our best guidance would be to encourage you to visit your local dealer. Another option would be to review your manual to locate the drain tube location.
I think the last time I drained mine, I drained it out using the "service position" and drained it out the dipstick tube, but don't quote me on that, It's been a while. I know for my old Ariens, it just had the plug so I made a custom drain tube out of pipe. I would tip it away from the plug, install the pipe system(it was 2 pipes with a 45 deg elbow in the middle) then tip it the other way to drain it.
In my machine it looks like they want you to change it from the side and that would be a mess with oil going down the side of the machine. It "looks" like the hole for the oil drain was never drilled out and that the oil tube was not put in.
Horrible demonstration..... He talks instead of demonstrating with slow steps and details.... someone like home owner with zero experience will not benefit much from such video.... disappointed... Better read the manual....
Sorry about that! We'll consider your comments when preparing a video for next winter -- we have been doing more with video and trying harder to have better demonstration through use of video. Maybe this one might offer some more value: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S2ZNklFw7DM.html&t
