Pressure works different as any character archetype. Long, mid or short range here I go over how to get your opponent scared of you no matter where you are.

Kazuya is the best example of "movement" pressure btw...you should mention that kind of pressure because not all fighting games have jumps

Same rule applys, in Tekken you want to make sidestepping feel like something that will always get punished by timing your use of moves with good tracking well. Tekken jumps are also still really good, there were some big moments at Evo this year where they were used to great effect to punish lows by jumping behind the opponent. And a couple crazy corpse-hops happened too.

@@DarumaFGC the new patch took that out the game. Tekken is all screwed right now

@@Nimrod336 My condolences, I tabbed out of tekken shortly before Leroy was added, I've heard pretty much only complaints since. But watching EVO still rocked. I hope 8 is a lot more enjoyable all round

Great video. For the mid level player it is important to understand why training pressure is more important than flashy combo. Pressure with blocks trying has a purpose. Do you look to deny an enemy option? Do they have a big tendancy to mash? You can answer by frame trap. Do they jump a lot. Catch them with a move for it. Sometimes even doing nothing can create you and advantage. Waiting to see more of your videos!

Thanks a lot. Fighting games are very important to me and I never want to stop making videos on them. Right now I am doing some media reviews/recommendations but I have more fighting game content and guides planned I just haven't made yet! Stay tuned for more!

The way you described fake pressure reminds me of one of my Fox/Marth matchups. I played against two Marth mains regularly, one of whom I generally went 50/50 with, and the other who I generally cleaned house with. The one I consistently beat thought I was just a better player than the other Marth main, because they usually went 50/50 as well, but the reason Marth1 was able to beat me regularly when Marth2 couldn't was because Marth1 didn't freeze up or panic-parry when I charged him -- Marth2 consistently failed to react or reacted too soon, and promptly got punished for it. Worst part is, Marth2 _actually knew this was a problem and he just never managed to shake it._ Also, this is your daily reminder that platform fighters are still fighters.

I'd be more than happy for more sister-genres to fighting games existing and things being on more of a spectrum, while its something id consider in the eventual future, I do think theres enough fundamentally different between platform fighters and traditional fighters that a lot of the lessons I try to ascribe wind up not wholly applicable to them, at least not to the extent where I'd be happy just throwing some footage of smash in the background while I talk about certain fundies. People get way too bogged down in silly debates over whether or not platformers count as the same genre, but clearly they're so related you cant just discount them entirely. I just feel like if I was going to cover them, it would have to be them specifically, and not lumped in with other games from the main genre.

quite a few of these tips helped me out a bit mainly the focus on your opponent and not your character this seemed to be one thing that might of been making me make more mistakes

Cheers bud! These videos might get remade some time in the future but I do stand by pretty much everything I say in them. I'm really still astounded by just how bad advice for beginner players is and similarly just how high the bar is for what people think a "beginner" is for fighting games. I do still try give out good advice to anyone starting out and I make sure all my videos are understandable by anyone, and not just loaded to the gills with terminology people don't immediately understand. Thank you for the kind words! I was disappointed by how under the radar this video went at the time, so hearing that it helped someone is music to my ears.
