SERIOUS QUESTIONS: I'M DISABLED, I CAN'T BUILT ALL THAT YOU HAVE, WHICH IS GREAT, AND WISH I COULD. I HAVE DECIDED TO GET A ABOVE GROUND SWIMMING POOL TO STORE 1,700 SOMETHING WATER IN IT, THEN JUST BAIL IT OUT AND FILTER IT THROUGH MY BERKEY, WILL THAT BE OK AND SAFE? ITS ALL I KNOW TO DO. THANKS SO MUCH.
Thanks. I'm trying to find what others haven't covered yet. I know I've looked for videos on pressurizing water tanks and had a hard time finding them. Hopefully this helps.
I think you should have a check valve between your pump and the pressure tank to keep water in the pressure tank from flowing back into your water supply.
Hi, I followed the same setup as you for my land. I installed everything exactly as you did. For some reason my pressure tank is not getting filled with water it goes straight to the rest of the house by the pump only and doesnt even fill the pressure tank at all. I have the same 1” T fitting to the pressure tank like you do but no luck. Maybe i need a pressure switch? I see you dont have one would that fix my issue? Or what could it be
I have a pump that I just plug in (in the yard) & it pumps water out to the yard. Can I use that pump just plug it in & have it run thru kitchen & bath? If so what wud I do. Please help me if you can. I rented home out to try to get a head & it just got me no running water. For quite some time now. I replaced it @700$ just to have it freeze n bust. I have a 4k gal. Cistern that I catch water in however it also has been mistreated so to have water I have a number uptown . Comes quite in handy. Anyway I thank you eagerly awaiting to hear you're response. Plumb befuddled in Ohio
I wish I could help but I am not familiar with freezing climates. But you can just use a plug in pump, you'd have to know how to do a little plumbing though, cutting and glueing pvc, making the necessary attachments, etc
Appreciate your perspective and information. Thank you. I'm really curious about the seasonality on the islands. What are the seasonal variations on rainfall and weather in general?
Its definitely colder and rainier during the winter months. We have makahiki season(winter) time of harvest and plenty and peace, then there is Ku Season, spring summer, time of action and planting
Thanks for the awesome video! I’m about to set up the exact same thing as your moms house over on Oahu, but I was wondering if you had to pump into her catchment tank or is her roof high enough that gravity does it for you? I have a 6000 gallon tank and the top is higher than the roof so I was thinking about catching it in a 300 gallon tote and pumping it into the bigger tank, just wondering what you used
Your tank will work but whatever is above the roofline will not fill, You shouldn't have to use a pump to pump into a tank, you will never be able to keep up with it in a rain event. Best to be passive
Looks like it's starting at $30k for 3 acres in Hawaiian acres these days. Hate 5o say it but prices for everything are really high these days. I am happy I don't have to build in this environment
@@HomesteadinHawaii Thanks for the info! 30k is actually less then I expected, you're right though not a great time to build much of anything hopefully prices will fall sooner or later. Have a great day!
Another awesome video man. Im currently in the process of trying to find a tank like yours. Any advise on where I should look? My land is in HA. Mahalos!
In shipman industrial there is a water company. I think hilo water catchment? Anyway they supply the whole island so they should have what you are looking for. Thanks for watching
@@HomesteadinHawaii thankyou. I shared your video to my bro in law and im super glad i saw it. My concern was pressurizing the system, i knew it needed to be done bit wasn't sure. You explained all and we're thankful. Keep up the great work buddy. Regards, from west wales uk 🇬🇧 😀
How often do you have to cleanout your leaf and debris filter? What is the procedure to add some kind tank level indicator so you don't have to remove cover?
I clean out the debris filter 2x's a month and clean the gutters 2x's per year. My moms tank has a clear plastic 1/2" hose that goes inside the tank and runs along the outside of the tank allowing us to read the level without having to look inside.
@@HomesteadinHawaii hey I appreciate that. I live in HPP and although we are not living off grid, using a catchment tank and septic system is all new to me. I was interested in hearing someone with more experience that can advise how to make maintenance easier for myself but especially for my wife. How close are you to HPP? What would you charge for a couple hours of your time? New to your channel, but loving it so far. Thanks ken
Hey legend. Thanks so much for this. Is your pressure tank also on solar? I can’t find any pressure tanks that work with solar. Is the load ok? Or is it a 12v pressure tank? And advice would be great. Thank you!
