There are a few things you need to think about when training a Rottweiler. Each dog breed has its own unique personality and it is crucial you think about your dog’s breed when creating a training plan.
Rottweilers are an amazing family dog if you are an experienced owner who has a lot of time on their hands to dedicate to training. They make great family dogs, and with the right training they are awesome dogs. However, they are a guarding breed which means you need to ensure you train them and socialize them properly.
The first thing we work on with Rottweilers, after we lay a foundation of walks and obedience, is rules around the front door. This is particularly important because they are a guarding/protection breed. Teaching them proper door manners will ensure that they don't have any aggression issues with guests in the future. Socialization is very important for every breed, but especially important in Rottweilers. Failure to socialize at an early age and consistently throughout their lives can lead to major issues. This breed is prone to aggression and will bite people they do not know if they are raised improperly.
You should also get your Rottweiler well trained in the yard. Many Rotts tend to guard the fence line and become aggressive when new people or animals approach the fence. Make sure that they understand the yard is a place where they need to listen.
Also keep in mind that Rottweilers are notorious for resource guarding. You need to be working on handling food, bones, and their toys at a young age, and throughout their lives.
The last thing to work on with your Rottweiler is getting them used to having their nails cut. Rottweilers tend to have more issues with nail trims than other breeds, so it needs to be worked on at a young age.

❤️ rotties (especially with their ears on) and your presentation style suits me down to the ground, so I'll be checking in for more videos. However, and this is just a tip, you might want to politely request that your camera op doesn't smoke cigarettes whilst filming. It's not a great look.

@@abrahamdraper1911I am glad that you enjoyed this video! What dogs do you own? In regards to the smoke, that was an incense burning! Smoking around dogs, especially inside is extremely dangerous so we would never do that! Let us know what questions you have, we would love to answer them for you!

@@SuburbanK9DogTraining Ah, good to know. Thank you 🤗 Currently I have a single mixed breed rescue, but I've owned lots of different breeds over the years (I'm old), from J-Akita to Jack Russell terrier. I've loved them all! *subscribed*

We rescued a 2.5 yo. He gets aggressive with all people who come to the house. He has had training and stopped doing destructive behavior but he will still snap at people. Have you seen other dogs be trained at this age to know who is ok to come inside the house and near the fence?

Absolutely! We see dogs of that age all the time and help their clients overcome these issues. I would start by getting a perfect heel command and then use that as a calming technique at the front door for people intros.
