I have an original key/keyfob but the unlock button is broken on the chip in the fob. Can I do this with the original key with the chip out of the fob?

What if I turn light off will that mess it up

I have the "sidewinder" style keys. The fobs are dry rotted. I've had 2 keys made and never one of them will turn in the ignition.

I changed my ECM, so the old keys don't work. This procedure doesn't work for my situation. The security light doesn't ever go out.

My locksmith told me not to be turning on the ignition because bad things might happen......I can't find anywhere what those things might be. Is he scamming me ?
