Static displays like the time and date or a message that doesn’t move are often bad for VFD type display longevity. It generates heavy pixel wear which means you end up with bright and dark segments over time. That’s why the original display scrolls so the same letters are not statically on the screen in the same position. Good video thanks !
Yeah...I figured as much...that's why I had the "happy vending" message scroll. Even LCD monitors that are not supposed to be effected by "burn in" often will degrade the screen if you display a static image for too long.
