I'm glad I saw your comment. I tried for a two days doing the 30 minute relearn after losing my master key and getting a new one cut at the dealership. But the instructions I was reading were the same as you. It's a 2004 Grand Prix GT in case anyone else has similar issues, thank you!!

Carlos, thank you for your input. This may be true for certain models but is not a blanket statement for all GMs that are exported. It would depend on the calibration and service#s and we prefer to address them on a case by case basis. If you would like to share your vehicle year/make/model It could offer some insight to those with that same vehicle.

@@acr i have an 06 GTO pontiac, would i need a scan tool for this procedure? I also heard i need 2 security codes for my car in order to do the relearn process. Do you have any insight on that ?

@@Mr-th5hw If you purchased the ECU from us, then you will not need a scan tool to relearn the key. These instructions apply to modules calibrated by us, but it may work in other scenarios. We also offer a service that will eliminate the security system, thus avoiding the key relearn altogether. The ECU must still be VIN programmed and calibrated to your specific vehicle. GM Computers carry a service # that applies to many models however, although the service# matches, the calibration is different. Please be sure that your replacement computer was properly configured for you.

Hello, This is not the process for relearning a new key. This is the process for relearning an existing key to a new ECU that is programmed by us.

@@Troys221 If you are replacing the BCM, that requires a very specific type of programming. This video is for a key relearn procedure when you replace an ECM, not a BCM.

Sounds like there could be a programming or calibration issue. Did you purchase the part from us?

The units that we provide are not blank. We supply ECMs that are correctly matched using the calibration required based on the VIN decode. Junkyard PCMs share similar service #'s but the calibration varies between models. In theory, it is possible but given that junkyards will not accept returns on electronics, it could be risky. You would still need someone to program the VIN in the module as well.

Service traction control and service stabilitrak comes on. I just put new throttle body/ throttle position sensor on it along with this new ECM and security light just doesn’t stay on like it’s supposed to

With my security light going off right after turning key into crank position is it possible that the key relearn process won’t work due to a bad ignition lock cylinder?

Very sorry to hear that you have issues with another company’s ECM. We are not sure what type of programming is performed or if they are licensed by the manufacturer to perform such programming. It would be difficult to diagnose someone else’s ECM but we would suggest letting them know about your issues and hopefully they have a solution for you. The relearn process must be performed at a minimum of 3 times

If the security light is going off immediately then it has yet to be triggered to enter the relearn mode. Check and be sure that you are following the correct procedure for your vehicle.

@@anonymousfishing4174 Yes I purchased the proper PCM and it was flashed to my Vin. I finally took the car to the dealer. They reflashed and ran diagnostics and were unable to fix the problem. They were unable to run the relearn procedure. They changed the throttle body & sensor as they said it was part of that electrical circuit. It did not help, and i was charged for the part. The car was towed back to me unresolved from the GM dealer. Another $600 bill, plus towing. I finally scrapped the car.

Was the ECU programmed by us?

Same process, just press the engine start button instead of turning the key.

I would suggest connecting a scan tool and check the actual codes and go from there. If you didn't buy the computer from us, the module may be missing the VIN and correct calibration and could trigger the CEL and possibly drivability issues. Keep us posted.

It would be easier to answer that by diagnosing the vehicle and having a brief history of the issues you've been having. If you purchased an ECM from us, a tech support team is available to assist you, which you will find on the QR code we sent with the module.

The key fob is a separate system from the PCM. Depending on your year make models there may be a video or instructions online or here on you tube.

Hey Jordan, Heres what we have on that code for your vehicle: Disconnect the battery, Check the BCM Connector and be sure its fastened securely. If that doesn't work: 1. Watch traction control switch input in Body Control Module (BCM) data or with a Digital Volt Ohm Meter (DVOM) on the Brown/White wire, circuit #1571. Voltage should remain high, near 5 V or 12 V while switch is in the ENABLE position. Refer to the latest version of GM bulletin PIC5074. 2. If the switch status does not remain ENABLE, disconnect switch, road test. 3. If the status is now steady in the ENABLE position, replace the traction control switch. 4. If the status still changes with switch disconnected, check the Brown/White wire back to the BCM, pin 33 for a potential short to ground. 5. If the wire checks OK, verify the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) sensor voltage is 0.73 - 1.47 volts with the brake pedal released. 6. If OK, perform the BPP Sensor Calibration per GM document #2037786. Mr. Miller, I have confirmed that this is the correct video with the procedure required for your 2006 G6. It very important that the key is turned to the start run position and released to engage the security system. Also, it's critical that you have the correct ECM for your vehicle. Hi Daniel, sorry about the issues you are having with another company. This could be a result of faulty programming or an issue with your VATS (anti-theft). We have the ability to disable VATS which would bypass the key relearn. We can provide that service or a PCM with VATS disabled. Call us M-F 9a-6p EST and we can set it up for you.

Did you purchase the Computer from us?

On your Key it'll either say PK3/Passkey or PK3+/Passlock. We have 2 videos for GM relearn (link to other video in description) - About 40 seconds into this video I show a diagram of the key in which this video applies to same as the other video . Hope that helps!

@@acr That doesn't work for the GTO, you have to perform a PCM to PIM relink.

It could be the actual VATS system on the vehicle failing. We are able to disable that function from the PCM if you’d like to go that route. I would recommend having the vehicle diagnosed.

If you purchased a brand new PCM from the dealer it is not programmed and calibrated as they are unable to do such off-board procedures.

2015 Equinox uses the PK3+ system

Those keys would have to first be programmed to your ignition.

Follow the same procedure but instead of turning the key, just press the start button with the key fob in the correct area.

calibration is critical

Mr. Dixon, My first suggestion would be to inspect the vehicle for electrical shortages. The ECU would be incapable of shorting the starter as it is a low voltage part. The starter, however, if not grounded and/or has malfunctioned is capable of damaging electronics. Secondly, if the ECU has malfunctioned, you can easily purchase one from us at www.allcomputerresources.com which is pre-calibrated and VIN programmed specifically to your vehicle, once you receive that ECU from us, you would follow this relearn procedure and will not require a locksmith or mechanic.

No, You just have to do the entire procedure one time, and both your keys will work as long as they were working keys before the ECU replacement.

Yes

This is pretty common as you are leaving the key on the 'ON' position which illuminates some of the cluster lights. Be sure the battery is fully charged and/or connected to a tender. If the battery dies while performing this procedure it could corrupt the software on the PCM

The 1997 Pontiac Sunfire uses the PL1 system (Passlock 1). The process for key relearn is outlined correctly in this video, the 10 min would be closer to 11 min the the process is the same

@@acr My 97 Pontiac Sunfire has a key with no chip or resistor and according to your video this is Passlock, not Passlock 1?

@@bobmead8184 Passlock and Passlock 1 follow the same instructions. If you had a resistor/chip on the metal part of your key that would be a Passkey system which would be a different set of instructions.
